Grand Thumbs Autos XLVI: Just when you thought it was over
JonCole replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Multiplayer Networking
That was pretty wizard. -
Yeah, I'm eastern, I just have classes practically all day on Mondays and Wednesdays. Grand Thumb Auto might even be jeopardized for me, but I'm trying to remedy that.
-
Well, if I understand the time correctly, I'm not gonna be able to make it to Formula Thumb because it conflicts with my school schedule. Not a huge deal, considering I absolutely suck ass at the game, but you guys have fun.
-
YouSendIt is also useful.

I think that for the most part, you're right, but it sort of breaks down when you consider that some of the best players use starter weapons because they're most accustomed to them. In the case of COD4, the M4A1 and M40A3 were really excellent weapons. Similarly, some people just use the SCAR from the beginning of MW2 and will tear you up late game once they accrue all of the upgrades.

After watching the Giant Bomb quick look, I'm definitely not going to buy the XBLA game. It's so "edgy" and self-referential that it actually takes note of the poor reviews and disappointing sales of the first game. Sorry, but making fun of yourself to fit in is something I haven't seen since grade school, and I'd rather not see it again.

I watched Avatar again, this time in IMAX 3D. Having seen it in Real-D last time, I think I can say that it's worth the extra $3 or so for the IMAX if you have a theater near you. In a film so heavily invested in visual and aural effects rather than plot or dialogue, you want to put your money in the right place.

Well, this is where people would say that MW2 actually takes major steps of improvement. Paybacks, weapon xp, and the like all make is so even someone who isn't performing so well can gain XP and have a fighting chance. For me, I had a similar problem until I found a weapon I liked. Thus, I stuck with the FAMAS and the UMP for the first 30 levels or so. Once I had the mechanics ropes in hand, I was a bit more experimental in my builds.

Yes, this.

On a side note, what's the story behind this shit? <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPZUcbkYlU8&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPZUcbkYlU8&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> -

I don't remember playing with you before, so I'm not gonna get my hopes up. Back to the point, I'll do my best to make it, though I'm not sure I'll be able to. Now that I have autoaim goodness, however, I have much more reason to come.
-
Yeah.

So, I just started playing Uncharted 2 now that I finished the first one, and I've gotta say, so far... graphics (realistic hair, mostly except Chloe's often looks too plasticy ) seemingly deeper plot development continuing with the corny subtleties of the original Chloe's voice, sorta grating

Really enjoying David Sedaris's When You Are Engulfed in Flames via an Audible audiobook - he's absolutely hilarious. Heard him first on This American Life, plan to pick up more of his books in the future. Just started Reading the OED (Oxford English Dictionary), which is a pretty crazy book about a guy who read the whole damn thing. He talks about how he actually got through it as well as highlighting a lot of the really arcane, practically unusable words that still managed to hang onto a little bit of life in this 150 lb dictionary. Eager to see how it shapes up as I go along, because it sorta seems like it might get old by the end.

Note: I did manage to pull off "da" without a challenge. There was no other way to play this without bluffing, especially with the game being at such a late stage.
-
Forgive me if this sounds rude, but are you just here to beg for Steam games? Because I honestly haven't seen you say anything that doesn't imply that.

Coraline

I actually stole this resolution from Shawn Andrich over at GWJ who made this promise last year, but I'm going to play a game every month that's not usually in my wheelhouse. Looking at my Steam list, I see a lot of potentials... Sam & Max, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Penumbra, X-Com, Zeno Clash, and many more come to mind.
-
So, on a peripheral note, would Sam & Max at $15 on Steam be a "must buy" sorta situation?

Well, a middle name is supposed to be just that, a single word. However, your middle name is video games, two words. Get with it.
