  1. General Video Game Deals Thread

That covers a lot of them, except for Bit.Trip Beat going for $1.99 (aka a steal). Go and get 'em!
  2. Books, books, books...

Finished Mass Effect: Retribution a couple days ago... pretty good game-related book, expands on the fiction pretty well and tells a bit more about Cerberus and the Reapers. A little hard to follow initially if you haven't read the earlier books, though I imagine it's still good either way.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

I don't know... it doesn't affect me much, as I've been caught up since the beginning of season 2. I do get to indulge in the joys of Canadian people saying "sore-ee" (rather than "sar-ee") while watching various episode of Stargate, however.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

We don't even get Mad Men, bro. You can finally feel a sense of Canadian superiority.
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

A disc for the Wii, yes. Why does that make you screwed, again?
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

This isn't a movie/tv recommendation, per se, but it's something my friends across the border (the more pleasant one) might appreciate - Netflix launches in Canada today: streaming only service for C$7.99 per month
  7. Halo Reach

I beat Reach a couple days ago and loved it... released a podcast today that had some of my thoughts, if anyone's interested: http://www.castmedium.com/2010/09/20/castmedium-reachcast-09-20-10/
  8. Halo Reach

I'd probably... not prefer weekends, though I might be able to make it work. Otherwise, Tuesday evenings, Thursday afternoon/evenings, and Friday afternoon/evenings are good for me.
  9. PC purchasing advice

The 5770 is good stuff... I have virtually the same build as "very good" and I can run practically any game without a hitch, often times as maximum settings at my 16:10 resolution.
  10. For anyone who wants to repurchase Bioshock 2 for the 360 in the US, Amazon has it on sale for $20: http://www.amazon.com/Bioshock-2-Xbox-360/dp/B0016BVYA2/
  11. Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday, Chris... another year older is another year closer to growing a Gandalf-ian gray beard.
  12. Man, that trailer was badass. Hmm... if I can find one of those clearance collector's editions of BS2 that I've seen floating around here or there, I might have to pick it up just for Minerva's Den. Otherwise, I'm just going to have to wait.
  13. Mass Effect 2

My girlfriend plays a fair amount of games, but not much that people would generally consider part of the "hardcore" fare. I bought her Mass Effect 1 during some Steam sale a long time ago and she recently just decided to try it out... resulting in a 30+ hour playthrough in less than a week. She bought Mass Effect 2 immediately and honestly has been talking to me about it practically non-stop, which made me want to play again. So, I'm playing Mass Effect 1 again with playthrough 2 of my renegade character... I'm hoping to grab another couple ME1 achievements and have a good character to import for a renegade run of ME2 (since my first one turned up being a paragon one). I'm just trying to figure out how much of a superdouche I want to be... so far, I really haven't given Ashley or Liara the time of day but I'm considering getting with one of them just so I can cheat on them in ME2. Anyways, that was a stream of consciousness with no real point, but maybe there's something interesting there.
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

An article wrote by Michael Phillips of the Chicago Tribune, titled: An ode to Jeff Goldblum, a character for the ages
  15. Plug your shit

Reviving this topic to plug my new feature on a site called Cerebral Pop - each week, I'll give my impressions on a different Netflix Instant View film. For those of you Americans out there with access, it might be a good way to get some recommendations that you might not have considered before. Here's a link to my first article: http://www.cerebralpop.com/2010/08/netflix-minute-step-brothers.html
  16. BioShock Infinite

    Chief Operating Wizard (COW)
  17. BioShock Infinite

I was about to whine about the whining about the name, but instead I think I'll just say that it must be pretty nice for the Irrational guys when one of the only things people are complaining about is the name.
  18. BioShock Infinite

In response to Patters and Miffy, I'd recommend you watch Joystiq's interview with Ken Levine... he strongly suggests that the dynamics of the world are going to be very different from Bioshock due to the fact that it's a prequel, so I'd be very optimistic about having non-player characters who actually have some sort of personality.
  19. BioShock Infinite

Alternate page, since the servers are getting slammed: http://www.joystiq.com/2010/08/12/bioshock-infinite-coming-to-ps3-xbox-360-and-pc-in-2012-see-th/ It looks awesome. Say what you will about another Bioshock game getting tiring or whatever, this is a game made by Irrational; I think I'm going to have a little faith.
  20. A few posts ago, I quoted his Twitter.
  21. Next you'll be telling me he has a beard!
  22. Congratulations, Chris. I couldn't really think of a better place to see you go. Good luck!
