I honestly think that if gaming is at the top of your list, you really shouldn't be considering Macs. That's not to say they're bad or anything (in fact, their screens are so nice that I'd love to have one myself), just clearly not meant for that purpose.

Thanks, you guys are heroes.

I actually thought this was just plain old admirable rather than stupid. This little protest only made Nintendo look like a sack of shit... their embargo restrictions basically made it so reviewers could only talk about like 30 Pokemon and the first two hours of the game. Sure, it looked pretty damn ridiculous while the words were blacked out, but that's the only way he could post a review and actually have it be more than "I like my experience with Pokemon, take my word for it and here's my score" as many of the pre-release reviews sounded like.

It's kinda unclear to me if enough people own the game to answer this question, but I figured I'd fire away anyhow. Will I have to re-import tracks from RB1, Lego Rock Band, and RB Track Pack 2 when buying RB3 if I already did it with RB2? Or will that stuff just be automagically available in RB3 when I stick it in? Was just thinking of trading away those games as I'm trying to save up some cash for a new phone, but I don't want to really bother if I'm not futureproofed for my inevitable RB3 purchase when I'm jonesing for music games again.

I actually completed a game, for once! In a bit of a handheld gaming personal renaissance, I tackled M&M Clash of Heroes and really had a blast with it. After about 40 hours of play, I wrung out every bit of goodness that the game had to offer. It's one of those games where the grind of the RPG elements is actually inherently enjoyable due to the satisfaction of combat, rather than burdensome because the grind is necessary to proceed. Not sure if I have it in me to try the HD version when it comes out on XBLA/PSN just because it'll be exactly the same game, but I can't help but think I'd still enjoy it due to the really solid puzzling.

So wait, they just jacked all of your copy and only linked your blog in the context of you answering questions rather than them? That's fucked up.

No joke, you're internet famous! http://revision3.com/tekzilla/samsung-xoom/what-episodes-of-bsg-should-i-watch-to-get-started-

Not a movie/TV, but I thought I'd mention it anyways... just watched the latest Tekzilla only to see our very own ThunderPeel2001's blog featured for its extensive reccomended viewing order of Battlestar Galactica.

Reviving this topic because I just got an iPad... recommendations, please? Already got Galaxy on Fire 2, Infinity Blade, iPacross, Osmos HD, Plants vs Zombies, Edge, and Caracassonne for what it's worth.

Don't know if I need this spoiler tag, but I'm using it mostly due to the fact that Twig did.

I don't know about way more difficult, but the boss fights certainly weren't that hard once you did the little pattern recognition trick and all that. I don't really think that's to its detriment, though. Most of the items you gain that only have a little bit of utility are actually decent in other applications... nothing as silly as that gear top in whichever Zelda game. Comparing an action game to Arkham Asylum will almost universally make it look bad, for what it's worth. Though I do agree... it felt a bit more hack-and-slash than actual combo driven game like DMC or God of War. That's probably due to its deeper roots in something like Zelda, I imagine.

I had that terrible Rebecca Black "Friday" stuck in my head all day, but found this to remedy that... Friday as interpreted by a bad lip reader: <object width="640" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GaKaGwch0U&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GaKaGwch0U&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&version=3" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="390"></embed></object>

This was my exact response/experience.

toblix Complains About the "Recently completed video games" Thread
JonCole replied to toblix's topic in Idle Banter
I don't agree at all. When I see an old thread resurrected about a game that I loved "way back when", I'm far more likely to jump in and see what's going on. RCVG is slightly more daunting as far as I'm concerned, as a game that I'm not interested in at all could inspired conversation for many posts and ultimately cause me not to dig in to what I consider "the good stuff". -
Yeah, I'll have to pile onto the G9 pile. Also, the Logitech G500 and Razer Mamba are solid in my experience.

To be fair, that was a terribly cut trailer... and reviews have been mixed at worst. I've read a fair amount of favorable reviews that didn't sound totally crazy, so I'm actually mildly interested in Unknown. Anyways, the beginning of this year in film has been totally atrocious. But I don't feel like that's a "nowadays" kinda thing... maybe it's just the frequency that I visit the movie theater to thank, but I barely ever come out of a movie feeling unsatisfied.

Been playing a lot of Bejeweled Blitz Live while trying to burn through podcast backlog.
-
It may be a lack of polish, or it might be the fact that its primary competitor is the memory of Diablo II... which is all but untouchable. Either way, I'm excited to see what they do with Torchlight II given the extra time they've had to develop it.
-
I think I'm done with Torchlight. I played it for a good long while (upwards of 40 hours) and hit a solid brick wall with a standard enemy around floor 40 or so. Either the game is just hideously imbalanced there, or I just didn't build up the right resistances and defense to stand up to continuous 3000+ damage attacks. I hadn't really dabbled in those kinda isometric loot collecting games too deeply until Torchlight and I think it'll probably push me back into playing Titan Quest some more (played like... 5 hours of co-op in that game with the girlfriend). Also, totally understand the excitement for Diablo III now.

I played a shitload of Bethesda stuff with podcasts in the background... it was kinda nice to avoid fast traveling and wander the plains to the tune of Radiolab or something.
-
Ah, I dunno. That whole thing got a lot of criticism in all the reviews I read. It's definitely the sloppiest part of the movie... really slows down the pace and segues into that silly pipe scene with Scotty on the Enterprise.
-
I think I saw Nick say something to the effect that it was rendered on the Xbox 360 with real in-game footage. Also, that score. So fucking epic, I can barely contain myself. I want to play Oblivion again, after hearing that.
-
Well, Star Trek is split from the continuity of the series. In the series, however, the Archer Warp Drive is maximized at Warp 5, but the NX-01 barely even makes it there on its own anyways. They typically peaked it at Warp 4.7, though maxed it out on one occasion.

Well, we had a more broad-news approach where we'd tackle anywhere from... maybe three to six different pieces of games and tech news. We found that while we were able to hit just about everything, we couldn't really dive deep into any one thing too much without breaking our self-imposed time limit (30-40 minutes). As for why we keep it that short, we just kinda feel like most podcasts more than overstay their welcome on a regular basis (I mean, 1.5 hours is okay... but some go 2.5-3 hours? Really?)
