  1. G4ming Keyb0rdz

I bought this keyboard hoping to use it at home, but I just got input lag way too often so I delegated it to BYOD office use. I still really don't trust wireless accessories for the sake of gaming.

I have this keyboard too, pretty much agree with everything Hermie said. The LED screen has never had proper functionality, so I'm not really eager to jump on another Logitech keyboard with a screen despite there being far nicer ones out now. I've had it for about three years so I'm prepared to retire it (it just has this grimy feel that I can't alleviate no matter how much isopropyl alcohol I use). That said, I'm currently considering buying the "Logitech Gaming Keyboard G110" (below). It looks essentially the same as any other Logitech gaming keyboard except without pretty much any frills. The only neat little feature it has is a built in USB sound card so you can plug a headset right into the keyboard. Seems like a convenient feature since I have to clear my desk of all wires when I'm not around because of my bitey cats.

My website is hosting a giveaway of The Journey Down, an adventure game from SkyGoblin. To tell you the truth, I don't know much about the game but I do know a lot about pimping my site. Just watch the video below for details and please subscribe to our channel if you like your gaming news in a much condensed form (or Minecraft videos, I guess) -
  4. Show me your desk/gaming space

Just ordered this guy for delivery at the end of this week/beginning of next week - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0033J90N8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00 I could really use a desk with drawers and a concealed cabinet for the computer, considering I have two very nosy cats... one of which loves chewing on wires and the other which likes stealing small objects off countertops. Next up, a new monitor. I think I'm going to get the Dell U2412 24" 1920x1200 monitor, but I'm not 100% sure. After that, peripherals including a new keyboard (the old one is at least 3 years old and quite gross) and probably a new mousepad. Anyone have suggestions on a mousepad? There's way too much selection for a seemingly minor accessory.

I just beat Zeno Clash yesterday in essentially one go. What a bizarre game. Generally fun combat that had a level of complexity that I really didn't explore and didn't need to at the easiest difficulty. The story was pretty decent, though I felt like the ending was pivoting pretty hard into a sequel that may or may not happen any time soon. Definitely worth the $5-10 I spent on it however long ago.
  6. Favorite early cancelled TV series

I haven't read the whole thread so forgive me if this was already said, but if you haven't watched Bones and you liked The Finder, you might like it considering the latter is a spinoff from the former.
  7. Favorite early cancelled TV series

I've been watching The Chicago Code on Netflix and without even having seen the whole single season run I can say with confidence that it deserves way more than one season. Too bad.
  8. Jane Jensen's Pinkerton Road CSG Kickstarter

I concur with the sentiment that it's difficult for some to finance multiple games/projects in such a short window. The truth is, if I spend $20 here, $50 there, $5 there... at the end of the day, I have tons of potentially awesome games to play in ~August 2013, but I'm out of cash to pay for what's coming out right now. Kind of a weird proposition.

While I'm not a huge fan of Kane & Lynch 2, this deal is pretty incredible if you haven't played most of these - $7.49 for Amazon digital downloads of Just Cause 2, Kane & Lynch 2, Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light, Supreme Commander 2, Tomb Raider Underworld

  11. Show me your desk/gaming space

Yeah, maybe it's just because I'm not a hardcore MMO player but I've never had any use for macro keys. I wish that Logitech wouldn't dedicate so much space to them. Even media keys or out-of-box shortcuts to My Computer and Calculator might be more useful.
  12. Show me your desk/gaming space

I think I have the same keyboard as well or at least an earlier iteration, if the one you're talking about is the Logitech G15.
  13. Show me your desk/gaming space

elmuerte, what Dell monitors are those? I'm thinking about grabbing a U2412M soon after buying a new desk.
  14. Show me your desk/gaming space

Well, I plan on upgrading my space very soon, so I'll throw up the shitty version now and do a before/after thing later - The most brief explanation - a second hand desk I got for free on top of a plyboard thing to make an improvised standing desk. Nice experiment, but I think I want a regular desk.
  15. I've had a bit of a conundrum lately, especially since I've been going through what is a vast backlog of games. I have to admit, some degree of this question is built on value proposition but I'd like to sidestep that element as much as I can in the following question: How long will you give a game to "convince" you? With some games, I'll obviously give them a much longer stick. For instance, I'm a sucker for first-person shooters and western RPGs so I'm bound to tolerate some early mediocrity for the "good stuff". Let's say I'm going to try a game that isn't typically in my wheelhouse but is critically or widely acclaimed. It's really hard for me to personally give a game like that my attention for longer than an hour or so before really wanting to put it down. Trying to put this idea to a formula or something, I feel like I should reasonably give a game something like 10% of its total typical gameplay time before I throw it to the wind. So, for a typical 10 hour game I might give it an hour but for a 40 hour RPG I might give it 4 hours. This formula has already failed, however, as I've just tried to play Eternal Sonata and truly wanted to give it a rest after only 30 minutes. Anyways, that's a very long winded way of me wanting to hear some other people's opinions on this matter. I feel like that as an art form, games deserve some degree of my attention no matter what they are. That said, I also play games for entertainment so I'd like to strike some sort of balance between those two forces.

Did we really let this really old thread die? Was it for any reason or just because people wanted to talk at length about specific games in their respective OTs? That said... Bioshock 2  I feel like this is pretty much sacrilegious, but the more I think about it the more I think I like Bioshock 2 better than Bioshock 1. While I certainly appreciate the originality and storytelling of the original, I think the actual mechanics (by that I mean the progression of plasmids/tonics/weapons and the minute to minute shooting) of the second game are better. Beyond that, I think the plot is a little bit more straightforward in a much more appealing way (hooray, a third act that doesn't fall flat and endings that don't feel totally superficial). All of that said, I think the economy of 2 is a little weak. I always felt like I had more than enough money and ADAM due to my nature as a completionist. Maybe I've just become used to games with a far longer tail of rewards, but I can't even imagine stuff like ammo rationing ever playing a big part. By the end, I could drop any Big Daddy with the most basic level of ammo for essentially every weapon. Also, I don't want to think that this is a "easy game is easy" thing.

Dollhouse. Fortunately got a chance to have a "proper" ending, but still hurt nonetheless. Also, Jericho.
  18. General Video Game Deals Thread

It's worth noting that if you've already bought and enjoyed DXHR, the DLC The Missing Link is also on sale for $5 and could be a good way to dip back in.

  20. IDLE THUMBS KICKSTARTER!

Anyone who's low on funds currently, keep in mind that your credit card will be charged on March 21 rather than when you pledge. As a result, I'm going to (sanely) pledge $100 right now and possibly up it to $200 if I lose my mind (read: continue to have a job) in the next 30 days.

  22. Mass Effect 3

    I can't wait for the next-gen XBOX360EMED.
  23. Mass Effect 3

I think that Origin has a bad reputation because it's owned by EA, and EA's really the only major publisher who has essentially waged open war on Steam. As an entrenched user of Steam with over 300 games in my library, I'd rather not have to divide my attention between two clients. Essentially, I don't like that EA is putting their very specific business interests miles ahead of my convenience as a customer (which is not something I expect, rather something that I appreciate from other companies that publish on Steam). So, I'll probably just be playing Mass Effect 3 on Xbox 360. Obviously not an ideal situation, but that's how I'll "deal with it".
  24. Fund Tim Schafer's next game YOURSELF!

I went to San Francisco when I was too young to appreciate it. Now I want to go back... and almost exclusively partake in the interesting food there, like Sushirrito and Dynamo Donuts. I'm a foodie.
  25. Books, books, books...

There was some talk of Goodreads earlier in this thread, but I'm just now starting to get into some serious reading so I'm active on the site. I just added Kroms and Erkki (the latter of which I suspect stopped using it), anyone else on the service? Here's my profile: http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/4033708-jon-cole
