  1. NBA Jam On Fire Edition

So yeah, I picked this up last night on XBLA and can't seem to put it down! I even got up early this morning to fit in a game before work. I absolutely adored the originals on the megadrive and this is essentially the same game but with plenty of extras to tide you over. The 'shop' where you can redeem points earned within the game seems to be littered with neat extras like extra teams and graphical filters (I unlocked one named 'retro' in the hope that it'd make it look like the originals but it just pixelates everything). I didn't play the disc version released a few months ago but I hear this is a definite improvement over that but with a slimmed down 'Tour Mode'. The only draw back I've found so far is that if you want to play a local co-op games, both profiles have to be Xbox gold members, otherwise player 2 has to sign in as a guest. And this is coming from someone who usually despises sports games!
  2. Android Games

I own all the games on cd if that counts? I'm running it on 2.3.3 (think that's the highest firmware out for the Galaxy s2), I think it' requires a later version as most games now use multi touch. I had to visit the Scummvm homepage within the browser and download the package that way to get it work, I'm sure there's a release history on there that you might find an older version on?
  3. Android Games

I made the jump from an old iPhone 3G to a Galaxy S 2 a couple of months ago and haven't had one regret yet. So far my main highlight has been installing Scummvm and working through classic adventures again. Outside of that I have mainly been playing Fruit Ninja, They Need to be Fed and Angry Birds Rio.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

Speaking of Apollo 18, I find it amazing that stories like this need to be published..... http://www.slashfilm.com/nasa-issues-valuable-reminder-apollo-18-documentary/ Who on earth (that one is free!) would actually believe this is in anyway real?
  5. General Video Game Deals Thread

Might as well give Alpha Protocol a go for £1.50, it'll take AGES to download however.
  6. Nottingham Game City

Bollocks, the one year I actually could be arsed to go I find out that it clashes with my honeymoon. ARGH, sods law seeing as Derby's only round the corner!
  7. Cheers! I'll have a blast when I get home from work later!
  8. I'm on as andersonmesa if someone could let me build stuff please? Thanks!
  9. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

  10. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Bollocks, I knew something would go amiss! Cheers! I chucked on Angst Is Not A Weltanschauung whilst cooking last night and completely forgot that it had a Daniel Johnston 'remix' on it, it's truly stunning.
  11. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

It's been a bit of a throw back week for me, listening to loads of stuff I haven't heard in ages. Bit of B Fleischmann for my electronic fix: Bit of Archers of Loaf & Everyone Everywhere for my indie rock fix
  12. The All New XBox Gamertag Exchange Thread!

My gametag is headacher, just opened the wallet up to gold again (shoudn't have though as I'm getting married next month!).
  13. I might have to drop by this week/weekend if that's cool? Finally made the plunge and purchased it last week and have been thoroughly enjoying it. Can I please build stuff? I promise not to break anything!
  14. Wherein half-remembered games are identified

I was also going to ask if anyone remembered the name of an old educational BBC micro game I played at school but weirdly I just had a flashback and turns out it's called Dread Dragon Droom. I remember hiding in the toilets at dinner time so I could stay in and play this and Geordie Racer and not be turfed out onto the playground. Sad times.
  15. Wherein half-remembered games are identified

You don't remember the X Men TC for Quake? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men:_The_Ravages_of_Apocalypse I had a demo on a PC gamer disc but never played the full thing.
  16. Overheating is an issue I've been suffering from recently. I recently installed a e8400 dual core 2 duo and it seems to be over heating like a beast. Somedays it'll idle at 40 degrees and sometimes randomly jump to 60 for a second. If playing a game it can go up to around 70 degrees. I've heard that the fan that comes with Intel processors is a bit crap but I can't seem to get the bastard off the motherboard to replace it! The graphics card (9800GT bought in Jan this year) also easily hits 70 degress when playing a game, the fan is currently set at 35% and can easily cope if I up it to about 60% but i don't want to wear the fan out. The scary thing is that I'm only playing games at 1024x768 too as my monitor is crap. Any advice? I don't want to buy a full on water cooled unit as I'm enough of a geek as it is.
  17. Brütal Legend overload...!

I'd love to know what's going on with game's prices, I finally upgraded my pc to play games on it and all of a sudden pc games go up in price! Red Faction : Guerilla is £39.99 in HMV and Batman's not far behind.
  18. Brütal Legend overload...!

Does anyone know how much UK stores are selling it for? I asked at Gamestation the other day and was quoted £40-45, since when did games get more expensive on release date? I always though games tend to be £35-40 on release.
  19. Lucidity

For some reason I have find memories of playing oddly licensed games on the Amiga like Pushover, the Quavers game.
  20. Lucidity

Also, wasn't sleepwalker a game released to help Comic Relief? I seem to remember being able to wear a red nose in it.
  21. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Definitely,"Emergency & I" is one of my favourite albums ever!
  22. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

New Do Make Say Think album on October 19th! Can't wait! "You, you're a history in rust" had some amazing bits on, mainly the collaborations with Akron Family. Have you seen them live? I caught them at the Social in Nottingham a few years back with Hood supporting, amazing show.
  23. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

I guess I should have mentioned my podcast in this thread as opposed to the Podcast one seeing as it's all about music! Anyway, I have bought far too many records this month. I highly recommend:- Japandroids - upbeat stuff that sounds like a punk my bloody valentine Everyone Everywhere - amazing poppy indie like "Nothing Feels Good" era promise ring Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate!) - twinkly mineral-esque stuff Castevet - lile Cap'n Jazz, Small Brown Bike & Explosions in the sky all put in a blender Pswingset - awesome 90's sounding emo like braid etc Dude, Japan - Ace Urusei Yatsura style indie from the States The Light Sleepers - lovely Yo la Tengo/seafood soundsing stuff!
  24. Other podcasts

I guess it's tenuously game related as the first track is from Rock Band 2 and are all Harmonix employees?
  25. Other podcasts

It's not games related, but I do a monthly podcast of new music. It's mainly new stuff that I'm trying to get around and expose to people. Basic Text it's mainly indie rock stuff (a mix of US and UK stuff) and can either be downloaded via an mp3 or streamed via Mixcloud. Give it a go and let me know what you think! There's two up there so far!
