I think that was the first to use pre-existing dialog, but Lego Batman 2 was the first to have voiced characters.

Some of the Drinkbox guys have said in interviews/podcast appearances that one of their team is from Mexico, and jokingly talk about running everything by him first as an "is this racist" test. I just replayed Dead Space 3 in co-op with my brother. It's still okay, but a weird departure from what Dead Space was. Co-op makes it better, for sure. Then we played the "Awakened" DLC, which I hadn't played before, and hoo boy. Some of the setting and story stuff was interesting, but it just sort of rambles on for a while and then ends in a big "SEE YOU NEXT GAME" moment that contrasts quite sharply with the "we could keep going if we had to, but this is a good stopping point" ending of the main game.

SEE? YOU LET GAY PEOPLE GET MARRIED, AND NOW SQUIDS ARE MARRYING KIDS. WE'RE ALL DOOMED.

Day9's material could have been better, but he was a pretty good host. The center square is also a free square, where people put in a thing that they think is guaranteed to happen, no matter what. Also, Aisha Tyler (and most of the Ubisoft presentation) was pretty bad:

I don't know why Shenmue needs to be "finished." We've already known how how it ends for years now:

I would also be up for getting down with heists on the side of Sunday.

I think someone hooked up their spambot to the wrong list of keywords:

The faces in that video showed more animation and expressiveness than the entirety of the actual movie. It was like they were all wearing rubber masks.

Right, but not as his kids:

I think the Koopa Kids were quietly retconned out of the Bowser family when New Super Mario Brothers Wii came out. There's also a scene in Super Mario Sunshine where Bowser Jr. refers to Princess Peach as "Mama Peach."

The presence of the Final Fantasy movie in Life is Strange is more than a little... strange... because the game is being published by Square Enix. Max's comment about it is, "I don't care what anybody says, that's one of the best sci-fi films ever made." Having recently rewatched it, I can say that it's terribleness is probably one of the universe's only objectively verifiable truths. There was a similar easter egg in Deus Ex: Human Revolution, with posters advertising Final Fantasy 24. I'm not sure if they're meant as a low-key tribute to Square or as a sarcastic condemnation. I really want to play Life is Strange, but the writing is just so cringeworthy that I stopped halfway through the second episode. It's definitely better than the first episode, but it continuing to exist is just baffling. I don't understand how someone could think that anybody other than a twelve-year-old commenting on Minecraft videos would talk like that. I don't understand how nobody else recognized it before putting it into production. I don't understand how the voice actors saying those lines didn't bring it up. And after three episodes of feedback to that effect, I don't understand how it's still happening.

House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. Weird mindfuck thriller. Kind of hard to explain without a few paragraphs of seemingly-disjointed rambling.

Brothers is great, and everyone should play it, but I have to disagree with the thought that it involves a mid-game character disability.

It's actually pretty likely that the one escape puzzle was deliberately designed to give the answer "FARTING" when decoded incorrectly. A lot of puzzle events will use a secondary "incorrect" answer as a clue to a larger meta-puzzle, or even just as little jokes or misdirection (which is probably what happened in this case). You should ask Kevin about MIT puzzle hunts sometime.

t's more that it popped into my head during the Witcher's on First routine because of a few of the lyrics:

Is this before or after you steal Curly Brace's panties?

My problem with the custom radio is that no matter how many times I set it as the default station and constantly change to it whenever I get in a car, the game seems to enjoy either changing it to another station or turning it off entirely if I go on foot for any reason. Or enter a garage. Or start a firefight. Or exist for longer than 3 minutes. So I just turned the music audio down all the way and keep my music player running in the background.

This just came out of Early Access today. I've only played an hour or so, and I've had fun with the story setup and running through sewers punching thugs. I have a couple small issues - some of the menus are clunky, and the save system is a kind-of-opaque checkpoint/manual save combo - but I'm liking it a lot so far. The art is nice, the RPG mechanics seem straightforward enough, and it works pretty well with a controller. There's some pretty good voice acting, too, especially considering that it's a Kickstarter-funded indie team from Prague. I just got to the point where I can start installing cybernetic upgrades, and I'm thinking about forgoing guns entirely and seeing how a punchy hacker works out.

Yeah, this exactly. Definitely one of the "clunky menu" things. The only reason I didn't know it was even an issue is because I never tried to use a gun.
