  1. Transistor

I'm glad there aren't any preorder incentives because like SAM I don't have time to play it when it comes out. But I'll gladly pick it up for full price in June. Transistor seems to be self-published unlike Bastion so I guess that's why it doesn't have as big a marketing push.
  2. Destroy Remo's Life in One Easy Step

The worst combination of things that are the worst for Chris. Flappy Doge 2048
  3. Kerbal Space Program

From the tutorial the most important thing you should learn is that if you want to change orbit then it's generally most efficient to burn prograde (in the direction of your velocity vector) or retrograde (reverse direction of your velocity). All space travel in KSP is based on this concept and it'll get you most of the way to anywhere. Also using the maneuver node system is really useful for planning things out. Once your able to consistently get a ship into orbit then the next step is to send a mission to one of Kerbal's moons. The Mun is close and many people go there first but it has enough mass that it can be difficult to have enough fuel to return. Minmus is further away but its lower mass actually makes it easier to get there and back. With the base game trying to figure out how much fuel you need for your rockets is trial and error, but there are addons that can help. A good set of step by step video tutorials for many things is which is up-to-date as of the patch before this new asteroid one. If you don't want to spoil yourself it's still helpful to watch the videos on subjects you already know how to do since they may contain extra tips on the best way to do them. Once you want to go further then the add-ons I mentioned do some helpful calculations for you and throw up more numbers. Kerbal Engineer or MechJeb have tools that help you figure out how much delta-v your spacecraft has, where delta-v is how much you can change your velocity given your mass and the efficiency of your engines. Protractor is an add-on that will help you figure out the best place to start trying to transfer your orbit to another body and how much delta-v it will take. Note that in campaign mode these have to be unlocked in the tech tree.
  4. Destroy Remo's Life in One Easy Step

I died on Olmec And yeah, I'll probably go actually buy Threes in a bit.
  5. Titanfall

Yeah, I got in after switching servers to South Central. Once you're in it's solid. Campaign mode is kinda funny since it's almost like it's not even there. The added cutscenes are like 30 seconds long and most of the time I have no idea what's going on except that one faction wants to assault the other faction's thing. But somehow I completed the IMC campaign despite losing the last 3 maps or so and unlocked a Titan chassis, yay campaign mode!
  6. Titanfall

    Connecting... Initalizing...
  7. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

There isn't much of a back story to Laurentius. You can check out more about him and some of the other less notable Firelink characters in . And the full playlist is pretty good for moody Dark Souls lore. Also Ceaseless Discharge is the easiest boss in the game if you know the somewhat secret way of beating him.
  8. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

Another interesting batch of prototypes from Double Fine. Little Pink Best Buds Steed Mneomic Dear Leader
  9. I don't think anyone mentioned this but the scores in Threes grows exponentially, so even if it looks like you're far behind someone else you might only be one match away from them. They did it this way so you're super rewarded for having a single big number and try to get larger matches rather than filling the board with moderately large numbers.
  10. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

Mmm, it's so salty in here. Yummy. I'm happy with the games picked although I really liked What Could Go Wrong coming out of the last round of interviews, but I think it was just difficult for a horror game to win. I liked the creativity of Pen Ward's pitches but yeah they mostly weren't great as game pitches. I'm glad LPBB was the one that was picked since it was the most intriguing.
  11. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

So Gone Home is now featured on this new section of Steam.
  12. Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight 2014

My votes: Dear Leader What Could Go Wrong Steed Little Pink Best Buds WCGW peaked my interest a bit more when I learned from the interview it would be a large cast adventure game with film style cuts between scenes. I like the concept of Dear Leader and think it could explore it more than similar games like Tropico which are too driven by the procedural simulation. My third pick was a little tougher since I warmed up a little on the other pitches, but I just feel like Steed is a style of game that plays to Double Fine's strengths. Oh, and for those of you who love the concept for Project Xing, while it's not exactly the same I would recommend checking out Magicka and the upcoming Magicka: Wizard Wars.
  13. The Idle Thumbs 10th Anniversary Committee

Oh, I dunno about those. I was talking about the ghost one which is triggered when you use the camera to take a picture of the ghost in multiplayer.
  14. The Idle Thumbs 10th Anniversary Committee

I just realized that the bottom right of that Spelunky sprite sheet is a reference to that photo that Chris hates. Nice.
  15. Idle Thumbs was mentioned on the final episode of Weekend Confirmed, but I don't know if that would explain the whole bump.
  16. Is free to play inherently evil?

Blow's argument is not that free-to-play games are inherently evil but that the business model does have an effect on the form of the game. It's hard to have a free-to-play narrative driven game because any attempts to monetize would impact the player's perception of the narrative. It would be hard to make such a game that isn't also a meta-commentary on the free-to-play model. Although there are some design practices associated with free-to-play that are manipulative and evil, but I think that comes more from slot machine style behavioral conditioning than just offering some small electronic goods for sale. Blow's done several talks on this, here's a recent one at a neuroethics panel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=apFE6AR9214#t=2697
  17. Anyone Remember?

Yeah, remember this useful gem from 2010?
  18. Spelunky!

Some speedrunners might actually prefer having fixed seeds to play. I think the AGDQ run of Minecraft this year was from a fixed seed that all the Minecraft speedrunners practice on.
  19. Well, the term bespoke originally refers to custom tailoring so yeah.
  20. Sex in video games

This reminds me of the Best of 2013: Sex category on www.freeindiegam.es : http://www.freeindiegam.es/2013/12/best-of-2013-sex/ The only one I played was Anne Hathaway Erotic Mouthscape but it was really cool.
  21. goty.cx - It's that time of last year again

Honestly I thought the guys gave up on Dark Souls after that one stream they did where unfortunately an overeager reader pushed Chris through the start of the game. I was surprised to see it mentioned.
  22. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Finished Act 1 and really enjoyed it. The presentation is excellent and I'm into the story and can't wait to find out what happens in Act 2. I agree that Act 1 is pretty easy. I think Tim said that he wants Act 2 to be harder in one of the documentary episodes. The only times I kind of got stuck were when the solution was actually simplest thing possible. The game definitely feels polished already. I noticed a few minor graphical glitches and the game currently doesn't support surround sound well. But it's certainly fine to play it now, nothing that makes me wish I waited an extra two weeks.
  23. Well, they are patching out some of the warrior OTK decks this week: http://us.battle.net/hearthstone/en/forum/topic/11222562600?page=1
  24. (IGN.com)

Well obviously from a critical perspective you'd like there to be a balance between gameplay and story. Gone Home just has so little game in it that the scales are all thrown off and you spend the whole time slogging through story. At least in The Last of Us all those dreary story heavy cutscenes are spaced out by dozens of hours of killing bandits and zombies. To be fair, I think the real reason he said that is because Gone Home doesn't have a chance of winning the votes for IGN's GotY whereas The Last of Us does. But his argument about criticism to justify that bit of politics makes no sense whatsoever.
