  1. Tekken 6

I'm not getting it, and I'm a complete novice at fighting games (I played a little Tekken on the PS1), but I would say go ahead and get the stick. I would, if I was buying a fighting game now. There are enough good fighting games out at the moment to justify having one, I think.
  2. GTA: The Ballad of Gay Tony

I know so little about multiplayer in GTA:IV. I need to join in with some Grand Thumb Auto.
  3. Google Wave

I also did not know there was a party! I'm not sold on Google Wave at all. I've had a few cool conversations with people, but it's not doing anything (so far) that an e-mail sent to three addresses at once wouldn't do. Also, the main inbox column is hopelessly crowded.
  4. Borderlands

Well, once we have headsets or whatever, or even if we just chat about a session here, it wouldn't be hard to exchange guns. I rolled a bruiser but like using sniper rifles. Because I'm difficult that way, I suppose.
  5. Borderlands

Ahhh!! It's a real pity. Hopefully they can sort it out sooner rather than later. I'm enjoying the level up with guns vibe.
  6. Torchlight?

I pre-ordered the game on Steam, first time I've pre-ordered any game. Now I'm getting ridiculously excited about playing it.
  7. Borderlands

Yeah, I'm sorry too. My headset, for whatever reason, didn't seem to be working. At first I wasn't sure what was going on (and without checking I'm not sure what to pick up or not and so on). Then I got unbelievable lag and it was unplayable. We'll try again next time!
  8. Borderlands

Hey mate, I just added you and realised you had replied to Groucho. Hope that's alright. Incidentally, despite actually being Irish, I live in Texas. I mentioned already I tend to be erratic in playing time, but worth mentioning. I know a lot of thumbs are based in Europe.
  9. Borderlands

Damn you and your logic! Mine is rockbear22.
  10. Borderlands

That's a good idea. I picked up Borderlands this week purely because I had a rewards certificate for Best Buy. I'm having a great time with the game, the single player is a lot of fun and not as drab as some reviews have intimated.
  11. Borderlands

I have it, though I am astonishingly unreliable to be online at regular times. Still, I'd like to play with thumbs.
  12. Borderlands

I can only speak for the VERY early parts of the game, but so far the game has just dumped me into a zone, I've unlocked another zone, and there are NPCs giving out quests in a manner that is extremely reminiscent of World of Warcraft. I normally consider story to be a really important part of the game, but I'm enjoying Borderlands despite the relative weakness in the story. There is talk from Cortana... I mean some weird disembodied woman with dark hair and bangs, about a kind of endgame thing but I'm not that bothered. Setting is great though. I really like it.
  13. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

Yup, I have been very happy since I started participating in the forums a few weeks ago. I'm going to keep enjoying hanging out and talking about video games with thumbs.
  14. Torchlight?

I feel exactly the same way! I'm currently going through a ton of games old and new, and having a nice short (well, comparatively short) game to rip through.
  15. Borderlands

I am really enjoying the game on 360, but I can't be sure if it's just my obsession with levelling up.... the simple talent tree and XP has me sucked in.
  16. PAX East

Groovy. I'll be getting an early bird ticket some time before Christmas.
  17. Half-Minute Hero

Cool, thanks for the impressions man. I'm going to pick this up for sure.
  18. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

I only started coming to the forum recently after listening to podcasts for a lot longer. I'm sticking around the forums, but it's very, very sad the podcast is ceasing to be. I hope the thumbs all stick around for the next awesome idlethumbs thing.
  19. Favorite Game, Best Game, Desert Island Game

Favourite: Half-Life 2. The setting, the story, the characters... Half-Life 2 got me more excited about video games than I had been in years previous. Best: Super Mario 3. I know a lot of people... a LOT of people point out Super Mario 64 as a landmark game, but for me Super Mario 3 both refined the best things about Mario platformers and brought in completely new concepts in a great example of how video game sequels can display innovation and genuine improvements over the originals, unlike other media. Desert Island: Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It's the one game I never get tired of playing. SEGA forever!
  20. Forza Motorsport 3

Me too, I was suckered in by the pretty menus.
  21. Either boycott the game or don't. Playing an illegal copy is not a very accurate interpretation of the term "boycott." I thought when I saw the thread post that you were going to have an attack of elitism against the "average gamer" but you're being completely reasonable and I'm with you. I will say though, the trumped up price for MW2 in the UK is a bit cheeky. It gets console players into the tricky situation of used games; I would rather buy copies that get money back to the developers but sometimes I can't afford the full-price copy of the game.
  22. Torchlight?

I have played MMOs but have now given up more or less forever for this very reason! I think Torchlight could be interesting though... I wonder how the MMO would look? If they can preserve their Diablo-esque vibe but have a wide open world of players, i.e. maintain that small team of four vibe but be able to add things on to the game world and the experience, I could get really into the game.
  23. Torchlight?

Yeah, the requirements are pretty low... perhaps due to the MMO goals going forward. I think the game looks cool, I'm going to get it and give it a go.
  24. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite

I want to say cheers as well, Fodder! Cool tips and much appreciated.
  25. Torchlight?

It looks pretty cool to me. The whole MMO part of it could be interesting later on. Weren't they talking about the editor on the podcast? Maybe that was another podcast. I'd be really interested in dipping my toe into modding with a game like that. Seems like it has a nice solid framework for beginners to start with.
