Well, I am now in a position to talk, though I won't go into too much detail for the sake of fairness. I had allied with someone to completely screw over dpp. That person has called off his joint attack and is now carving up the rich and scientifically advanced empire I foolishly left unguarded while my slow fleets are out of range. I am probably going to have to resort to full-on vindictive "take as many of you with me" mode. The yellow empire is not going to be here by the start of next week, and things are going to get interesting.

The north has been a massive shitstorm waiting to happen since day one, in my opinion. We've all made pacts with each other just to survive, but we know it could collapse at any moment.

Respect is the word, buddy. If it's any consolation, I'm sure to be next. Everything started out so nice and friendly and now it's going to be a bloodbath! It's fun though and I'd play with thumbs again.
-
Yeah, that would be cool. I must say, echoing what Chris mentioned on the podcast about getting off on the wrong foot with people, I actually feel bad attacking thumbs. Or at least, I feel bad attacking them not long after I claimed I wasn't going to attack. But it's video games!!!!

Sweet, cheers Simon! I would have gone to bed and missed this one. I played Bully on Wii but at that price it's a no-brainer.

Gizmodo are revelling in the fact that Jon Stewart agrees with them. http://tv.gawker.com/5526868/jon-stewart-slams-apple-over-its-handling-of-gizmodo-case Well bully for them, but I must say, picking a phone up in a bar after the poor guy forgot it and paying someone who picked it up knowing it was a prototype iPhone and wanted to make money off it are two different things. I agree completely that the police behaviour in this situation is weird. I also have no love (left) for Apple. However, Gizmodo could have covered that story, still broken all the cool exclusives, and just been less dickish about it.

I am also nervous and have no idea what's going on. My diplomacy has died down a little, and I'm kind of relieved!
-
You lucky, lucky corner people. I'm already feeling a little claustrophobic.
-
Sweet! I am signed up and ready to have my hopes dashed after about six weeks!
-
Seems ok for me too... I'm also on Win7 64-bit.

I just bought this, Destructoid tweeted the price and the screenshots alone convinced me this was worth five of my American dollars. Looking forward to it.

Ditto for me. Hey Wurtsi, we are in the same free game. I'm rockbear22 in that one. Also, I have no preference for game time, either medium or long is good for me.
-
I am definitely still in.

I'm in the same boat as you man. I'm not very good at these games, but I have really enjoyed Neptune's Pride so far. Jump into a free game in preparation for playing with thumbs. That's what I'm doing.

So, if I could start my first game over, I would put considerably more money into economy from the get go. My daily payments are pitiful and I'm trying to subdue a smaller neighbour to claim a corner in the galaxy, so I don't have cash to pour money into tech research! Still, this game is a lot of fun.

I'm in. Alias is Irishjohn (currently playing in a free game as rockbear22 but it's easier to have the same alias as my thumbs name) Any idea how time difference is going to affect our global thumbs community? I am in Texas now, but I'll be in Taiwan for a few weeks starting soon.
-
I'm playing my first game now. Not really sure what's going on, but SPACE!!!! And all that.

Jim Sterling bloody loves the attention. A pity really; I can't read his reviews anymore, you have no idea what he actually thinks of the game in question, he just tends to try and be outrageous.
-
That thing looks fantastic. I think Engadget wrote that this was still either at the conceptual stage, or a prototype though. That gets you back to discussing the merits of Apple's App Store versus the Android Market, though!

Oh yeah, I won't disagree with the idea that people play games on their iPhones or iPod Touches. I just think that a small handful of games aside, there's not much there. There are a few games that use the platform well, but a lot of the time you're making allowances. It's great to have games right there on your phone, that you always have with you, but for me a DS or PSP offers a much better video game experience.

Yeah, I'm bummed out by the resolution. Also, the HP Slate's battery life is going to be 5+ hours according to HP. That means three hours or so in reality. That makes the HP Slate a complete waste of time. I think the iPad will make sense when it has a camera and costs $299. It sucks that Apple won't support Flash. But as far as games go, except for the occasional game that is able to use touch controls well, and adventure games, it's a waste. So many tech blog guys talk about the iPhone and now iPad as gaming devices but they don't think about games the way people that chat on this forum do. If you consider Farmville a game, then rock away on your iPad, but if I get one next year I can't imagine I'll be playing a lot of games on it.

Well, technically, you're paying for April Fools' themed stuff, right? I'm much more concerned with the dude in your camp who's all like "I've got this awesome bad ass adventure with cool stuff, want to do it? Awesome, just give me some money! You know, real money!"

So I've got this DS game coming in the post this weekend, has anyone been playing it? I know a few thumbs are into a bit of space. I was won over by the reviews (not exactly stellar but piqued my curiosity). http://www.1up.com/do/reviewPage?cId=3178501 http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/infinite-space-review

Yeah, very early on I was getting comprehensively murdered until I happened to have a chat with an NPC I'd already met and he taught me how to add a second ship to my fleet. I had absolutely no encouragement to seek this guy out, I was mostly desperate!

Moron tries to steal early Breach build at PAX, gets caught.
Irishjohn replied to Hermie's topic in Video Gaming
I know, right? I wonder if he whispered to himself: "I'm in!"
