I am not going to write a misleading title that will get you excited for nothing

XBLA/PSN/PC Psychonauts 2 could probably be done and make a profit..... right? -
Rumor confirmed: Uwe Boll is in fact Adolf Hitler

That's interesting, previously I've only ever seen/heard/read him being an advocate of the "my movies make money, leave me alone" school. Anyway if he likes making films that's good for him. I just wish there was a way to STOP him from making them, or at least prevent him from distributing them to the public. -
Thanks man, I'll check him out.

You don't need cable for the ESPN stuff, just an ISP that supports ESPN3.com. I'm mostly interested in how the Kinect would work for videoconferencing. That's not really enough to get me to buy one yet though,

Vanquish, it is a bit like every bit of amazing in the world ever, vol 2

I have downloaded the demo... Now I will play it! -
Well, I'm very low level but I've been learning bits and pieces. I switched to Zerg recently and TheLittleOne and Dimaga have been really useful. I'm still catching up on Dallas.

Well to be honest, I haven't been playing RTS games much in quite a while. I was going with the flow on the 1999 vibe. I think it's not a complete stretch to point out that Starcraft 2 doesn't deviate from Starcraft 1 a huge amount. It's a refinement of what they had initially. Once again, I love this game. First game that ever got me interested in playing multiplayer competitively. If Bronze is really considered competitive.

That kind of criticism is interesting to me, but it also reminds me that I have absolutely zero interest in an advanced RTS of that type. I have gotten into Starcraft 2 a lot more than I expected, and I think that's in large part thanks to the 1999ness of the game. I really, really enjoy it. As for more nuanced advances in RTS gameplay, to be honest I couldn't care less, except maybe for Dawn of War II (which I never played online). As for the story, yeah, it's a serious bummer that Blizzard are so in love with it. It's basically the Warhammer 40k universe with rednecks anyway. That I don't mind, but the story (at least in Wings of Liberty) was pretty cringeworthy, and Blizzard seem to think they're kicking ass in the storytelling department. By the end of the game the only character I really cared about even remotely was probably the dwarf engineer, and mostly because he reminded me of all the fun I had playing Dragon Age. Hopefully the next two games will get better, because Raynor being a "bad-ass" really isn't going to cut it.

You know he was joking right? Nice list of games though. If you start counting XBLA you get a real difference between consoles. I still recommend the 360 to people who ask partly because I personally prefer it but also because it's cheaper. That's still a big deal. Meanwhile everyone who asks about Kinect or Move just get advised to buy a Wii. It's funny how the 360/PC relationship works. This forum is full of snappy PC gamers (I myself play a LOT more on PC than I did before discovering the podcast) but for a lot of people the 360+PC games are essentially exclusives to the 360 because they're only really considering the PS3 vs. 360 dynamic. Of the gaming consoles I'm lucky enough to own now (considering a modestly game-capable PC as a "console"), if I had to give one up it would be a toss up between the PS3 and the Wii.

That makes sense to me. Although I was expecting to play as the "bad" guys in Heart of the Swarm. And what about ?

I also have yet to finish Gay Tony. I am also clinging to the dream that they'll take the Red Dead concept and run with it, making a series of historical era games. Cultural Revolution in China Redemption. World War I era Paris Redemption. 1958 Hungarian Revolt Redemption. And so on.

Hey everyone, So last year there was a very impromptu gathering of a small number of thumbs by the Diablo III banner in the convention centre. Basically Chris, Nick and the three of us that made it. I imagine that none of the podcast guys are going this year but I wanted to see if any other thumbs might be around and interested in meeting up to say hello in person or have a drink. Anyway, late notice I know but if there's any interest we can try and arrange stuff in this thread.

Yeah, last year I came home super excited about Diablo III and this year I was kinda "meh" as well. I don't think the game comes across very well in those videos at all. I didn't play it this year either though. Mohr was pretty funny. He does a good job of not taking it too seriously without making fun of people. Well, he at least doesn't make fun of them for being nerds.

Yeah, I'm interested in the DLC too. I think I might get it actually, if only because I enjoyed the Lost and Damned DLC for GTAIV so much. I still haven't finished Gay Tony but I have a lot of faith in these guys and it sounds like the DLC has a good story. Which, considering how fed up the media must be of zombies in games, must be a good sign.

That sounds like fun, but I don't think I can make it up. Let us know how it is if you go.

Cool, sounds good! I had not been playing for ages and I'm getting interested again. Being broke, it's distracting me from all the games I won't be buying this autumn. Damn you, New Vegas!!!! I'm also up for some rubbish 2v2 play. I'd like to give it a shot at least. It could be fun if we got ranked and actually played people at our own level. As opposed to being instantly owned by a zerg/reaper push or something.

"Is there a remote chance that he's your dad?" Yes = He's your dad No = He's your dad.

I was there but I didn't get to see the game. Yes, yes, I suck. To be honest, I didn't see anywhere near as much live SC2 as I wanted to. It was just a weird thing where you kind of had to stake out the same place all day, and I was with friends and wanted to see panels and stuff. I did see Sen v Loner live, that was a good one. I like to cheer on the Taiwanese players, I used to live there. The final was awesome, they showed the whole thing in the main hall on huge screens as well as the RTS stage. In other news, I'm now enthused about SC2 again and I am learning Zerg (i.e. playing lots of custom games trying to get the hang of hotkeys). What can I say, my silver Terran skills were going to my head.

So, I loved the story, and I'm happy I got it, but it sounds like getting it at a slightly lower price makes sense for you. As for the action, I am not a DMC head by any stretch of the imagination and I'm not a big combo heavy action guy outside a month of Ninja Gaiden once upon a time ago. The action in Enslaved develops a bit of nuance here and there but really it's just basic, heavy, evade attack, counter stuff. Overall I liked the game because I just enjoyed playing it, but that's probably because I really enjoyed the storytelling and everything else was either good enough to keep my happy or not crap enough to annoy me. The action might annoy you, I don't know.

It doesn't really fit the games your girlfriend likes, but my girlfriend and I have had some fun together with the Scott Pilgrim game on XBLA. Maybe think about these kind of games (cartoony/appealing graphics with old school beat 'em up vibes)? They get easier with more people and they can be really fun to play as part of a group, even if that group is just the two of you.
-
Just finished the game, cue large block of spoiler text.... And I specifically mention a brief moment I really liked very near the end of the game, so the spoiler tag is warranted. I thoroughly loved this game. I really enjoyed the story and the way it was told. So, yes. Loved this game. Loved it.

Apparently there is some issue today with digital content codes as well on the PS3, though I assume that's for Fallout 3? Rough day at work for them, to be sure. It is a real pity. If this is how it ships, what kind of condition is it in when people are doing the QA?

I'm on Chapter.... um something. Damn. Six, let's say. Anyway, I'm happy to say that the dialogue continues in the same vein. I find myself caring about the characters despite the fact some aspects of their relationship usually make me groan in video games. Really enjoying this one, hopefully the story will end well. So far, the setting is fantastic and the story itself is predictable but well done.

I also , although I am concerned that the game is a bit crash-happy. This one might have to wait for a new patch and/or the new computer I am finally getting in December.

Hey, sorry to muddy the waters, but I just realised I will be without Internet from Thursday until Monday afternoon. If you guys are looking to start before Monday you can give my spot to somebody. Otherwise, I look forward to being confident for a week or two only to get annihilated by untrustworthy thumbs!
