  1. Space Marine

So, yeah... I'm basically a baby, but I found myself occasionally running away from dudes to let the shield come back and then trying to get that "U" up to get all furious and recover health. I'll admit that running away didn't feel very Space Marine-y.
  2. Space Marine

I'd agree with that. I like the Gears games, but if anything the complete lack of any "stop" at all in the demo got me really excited. I guess I meant that I imagine that people who are really into Gears feel like that after they play Gears, but I don't, I got it from this demo. Then again, I do wonder how it would carry over a whole game. I think I'll be fine because I'm down with having a W40K adventure, but then I'm basically admitting bias and giving the game a pass, to a certain extent.
  3. Space Marine

I just downloaded it yesterday! I really like the demo. I like playing Gears, but after this demo I think I finally understand why Gears is THAT popular. Just going nuts killing dudes. I'm a huge nerd. I've always found Marcus Fenix's jockness ridiculous but it's totally justified with Space Marines. They're Space Marines for crying out loud. Also, Mark Strong, who's just a brilliant actor in any event, nails the voice of the lead character in my opinion.
  4. Space Marine

Yeah, I am drawn to the game mostly because I love the 40k universe, but I'm fairly worried about the whole GOW clone problem. I had told myself I wouldn't get it, but now it's getting closer and... you know... space marines.
  5. Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

Sad to hear that. I didn't check your spoilers. I actually know the game best through watching my girlfriend play the original. I was looking forward to getting her the sequels.
  6. General Video Game Deals Thread

Witcher 2 is available for thirty dollars on GOG.com right now. No idea what that means for thumbs living outside the US though. http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/the_witcher_2/
  7. Unity3D

Screw that, I'm waiting for the prequel, the game that's going to focus on RPG-lite mechanics and REALLY EXPLORES the origins and, indeed, the mythos of the lamps. Also, Unity 3d looks like lots of fun.
  8. The Idle Thumbs Acheivements Leaderboard

My favourite thing about achievements too. Always nice to dig a game out, even for half an hour to run over/shoot/speechify the appropriate number of dudes.
  9. Life

I'm sorry to hear that mate. Hang in there.
  10. New people: Read this, say hi.

I am also here. Welcome! Let's talk about video games.
  11. Tabletop RPGs

Sounds cool. I've played a bit of 4.0, and really liked it. Woukd be interested to see you get on down the road.
  12. Tabletop RPGs

How are you getting on with this lads? Just curious. Do you all set times to play together as a group or is this just going post by post?
  13. V The Elder Scrolls

Yup, Oblivion had fast travel. Actually, I haven't played Morrowind, but your post reminded me why I own it on Steam and am waiting to play it. As for Skyrim, I can't help but be excited. People here are rightfully pointing out a bunch of flaws in Oblivion, but there was a lot to like about it. That's why we're chatting about it, I guess. Also, dragons.
  14. General Video Game Deals Thread

Holy crap. I didn't even know there WAS a "coming soon" tab! About to click, and ruin my life.
  15. Recettear: An Item Shop's Sale

Definitely looks interesting, though I'm not sure if I can stick that graphic style again. I didn't mind it with Reccetear, but I'm probably going to focus my recently made retro game interest on Breath of Death VII for a while.
  16. Bastion

Despite your endorsement, that clip was considerably more awesome than I was expecting!
  17. Driver: San Francisco

I'm sure that they are selling enough, and there's no doubt that PC game piracy is a serious issue, but this just seems nuts to me. What about the guy who buys the game, doesn't think twice about it and is playing away when suddenly the game stops because his connection broke down? Or he or she is travelling for work and wants to play in their room and doesn't know they need a connection? Or maybe someone in the house is watching Netflix or something? Sorry for the list of banal examples, but it just seems weird to me to put an obstacle like this in the path of the typical consumer, regardless of how regular PC game people feel about DRM in general.
  18. Driver: San Francisco

Just so bizarre. Do they think that DRM like that only upsets five loud and angry nerds or something? Everyone who plays PC games beyond Farmville, i.e. the target market for Driver, hates this stuff.
  19. Bastion

Nuts to all of this. I was very down on Bastion and kind of snooty about all the media praise, but it's calling out to me now. The depth to action/weapons seems really exciting.
  20. Shadows of the Damned

Yeah, I'm not in a place to be buying as many games as I'd like and this one doesn't make the cut. Which sucks, because I absolutely love its "fuck you, this is a video game" ethos. Also, Garcia Hotspur.
  21. Dungeons of Dredmor

Yeah, I fired it up, but... I don't need everything to be mid-1990s GOTHIC and INTENSE or anything, but it just feels like a bit of a turn off. Having said that, I want to give it more of a shot. I've never played a roguelike before.
  22. EA throws its support behind Good Old Games

Cheers, thanks! Really looking forward to this.
  23. EA throws its support behind Good Old Games

I've still never played System Shock, though I really, really want to. A bit worried that I have elevated Syndicate in my memory to levels that replaying could never really reach.
  24. Sony Shitshow

I hope so, though they will do their very best to ignore it. I wonder how long the apologies will go on for? It's a pity there's not a presidential press conference type situation where journalists can just grill them.
  25. Dragon Age II

    I agree completely!
