Ha ha ha. Yes, yes. I actually want this forum to have some lame social networking "heart" function or something. I guess I'll go back to basics. THIS.
  2. Gears of War 2

Well Toblix, I liked Gears 2 a lot myself. There are some annoying gameplay sections but I definitely liked the story more than in the first game and hopefully you will continue to enjoy that element to Gears 2.
  3. General Video Game Deals Thread

So, Deus Ex Human Revolution is 25% off this week on Steam... I guess I have to buy that game now, don't I?
  4. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Utterly, utterly ridiculous. Thanks for posting this. Fantastic.
  5. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

So... after my recent move I'm playing my 360 on a 4:3 PC monitor. Far from ideal but better than nothing. The biggest issue though is that when the sun fills the room that has the 360, I can't really see the screen. So, I tried to soldier on half an hour ago but it turns out that the last thing I need is a handicap when playing this game. I have to wait for nightfall. Which actually feels kind of thematically suitable.
  6. V The Elder Scrolls

It was definitely a big Oblivion thing, but was it in Morrowind? Questioning innocently; I STILL have yet to play Morrowind. I need to play Morrowind. It's sitting right there on my hard drive, right now. Currently playing Dark Souls in large part because I was attracted to the sense of exploration and the vibe. I know Skyrim will be very different of course but I'm looking forward to that element.
  7. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

So.... I am already lost and I die a lot. The dying a lot I expected I suppose... I'm a cleric but I took the master key, and I just took off down a flight of stairs until I met a man with a very large heavy weapon. I figured I'd roll around a lot and get him from behind, but I was taking off a minuscule amount of damage, and then he got me once and.... yeah. So far, I'm not really sure what to do. The heal spell is handy for saving Estus flasks, and I think the game is only really starting to get going. I think I'm just afraid of facing any boss (or mini-boss) at this stage.
  8. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Ok, pretty excited about finally getting started later now. This reminds of me of a very similar encounter very early on in Demon's Souls. I completely wimped out.
  9. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Yup, Kevin Van Ord was pushing that idea quite hard. I must say, that sounds very encouraging. The original Demon's Souls didn't feel crazy unbalanced to me, but early on I got to a point where I really just didn't want to keep trying anymore. I got the game yesterday, and am hoping to get my lectures written in time today to get started this evening. Really, what most excited me and finally motivated me to buy it was this idea of exploring the world. Also, gear seems more important this time? Or maybe I just wasn't paying attention in Demon's Souls or didn't really get far enough.
  10. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

So I've been following the conversation here, and reading reviews, and reading them again, and watching video reviews (which I never do) and I just bought the game. Looking forward to it, though I never got all that far in Demon's Souls. Let's see if I will actually enjoy this! If it really is HARDER than Demon's Souls..... Well I don't know. We'll see!
  11. (IGN.com)

"brothers; to the end" Wow. I mean, I know it's a typo, but come on guy. Also, I mean, isn't he coming to the whole "Gears is for bros" thing a little late? No spoilers here but I thought GOW3 was the least bro-friendly yet and by far the most interesting one in terms of actually trying to tell a story.
  12. Anyone Remember?

I started listening again recently and I get what you mean, though. Definitely funny that in the first episode they're extremely doubtful about Fallout 3. I particularly enjoyed the second (I think?) episode's extreme skepticism about Deus Ex HR, though to be fair I think that skepticism was shared by many. Those earlier episodes also further confirm the sad reality that Diablo 3 will never actually be released.
  13. Life

Ha ha! Excellent advice there, to be fair. Many of us have been there Speedy, I suspect all of us over 30. I used to despair at just how often I found myself in situations similar to the one that you describe. It's all a learning experience and you're going to look back on this in years to come with a variety of feelings, but hopefully (and most likely) pain won't be one of them. But for now, I recommend taking BBX's advice. Get away to Uni and jump in with both feet. Get some separation from her (emotionally, not just physically) and have some fun. As BBX says, you're not the only one without a clue. You'll find out soon enough nobody has a bloody clue!
  14. General Video Game Deals Thread

Funny for it to come up, I'm actually about to re-install the game (having rage re-installed it last year) and give it another go. Also, this GOG promotion is quite a neat idea I think, particularly for heathens like me who missed out on a lot of these D&D based games first time round: http://www.gog.com/en/page/dnd_promo/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=game_subject&utm_campaign=dnd_promo
  15. Yup. You had me at "wander cautiously."
  16. Now I also want to play this game. Damn it. It was the mention of the word "Borderlands" that got me I think. Thing is, I quite liked playing Borderlands on my own and I don't see myself sitting down for a decent multiplayer session any time soon. I could be crazy.
  17. TerRover

Hmmmmm... I had been thinking of STALKER and Cryostasis, but the developers in both case are Ukrainian. Nuts. I blame Giantbomb and their lumping in term of "weird Russian games".
  18. Hard Reset

You could also just be awesome at video games and never encounter that issue at all!!! I'm sure there'll be a patch or something. The description of the graphics sounded pretty cool as well... the review was harsh but I think it was fair. I'd consider the game.
  19. Hard Reset

Nice review at RockPaperShotgun. Seems like there are some cool things in this game but a couple of annoying frustrations. Thing is, with it being such a supposedly PC-centric title, I would think an automatic-save mod couldn't be too far away? Seems like it would fix the main issue cited in the review.
  20. TerRover

I know nothing about this game but I love that "made by Russians" is almost a genre by this point. An awesome genre. Does it give anybody else a serious Little Big Planet vibe?
  21. Life

I don't think it would be weird, just be ready for the vast majority of people to never bother getting in touch. I definitely don't think it would hurt though, and if anything came of it you would suddenly have options, at least.
  22. Space Marine

I really enjoyed that review. I must say, I'm very happy I discovered the Wot I Thinks a few months ago, almost always a great read. Pretty much reiterates what I was thinking: I'll probably enjoy it, I won't be the only one, but many won't.
  23. Life

My thoughts are with you mate, I just moved out of there a few days ago and my fiancee is still living in our apartment.
  24. Space Marine

So, anyone buying? I had considered getting a pre-order in but I just moved across America. It turns out that America is very big.
  25. Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis

I love this game. I never actually played Last Crusade but I played through Atlantis a bunch of times. Somehow, I've forgotten almost everything about it... maybe it's time to replay again!
