Man, this game. I've only been available to squeeze in two hours so far (grading papers unfortunately), and I basically went on a long walk, headed to Solitude and talked to some bards. Yet to do anything for the main storyline yet. I might just get a wood cutter's axe first. Nice cartoon, Subbes. It makes my inner nerd and outer teacher sad/happy.

Hilarious. This is how to deal with cheaters, faint praise and sarcasm is the best. I know nothing about this kind of thing, what kind of hacks must the guy have been using? Seeing where everyone is at all times I guess, and shooting through walls? I'll never understand this desire to cheat at an online game. And I'm useless at online games, so you'd think it would have crossed my mind at least once.

I played for twenty minutes last night before bed and I had a similar problem, except I had actual static in place of words (I know for sure because I play with subtitles). I'm not the only one with the problem and apparently the solution is to change your sound settings to 24-bit 44100 hz? I haven't had a chance to check yet myself.

Really surprised at myself with this game. I had completely ignored it when it came out and was intimidated by the supposed difficulty. Got it as part of the Humble Bundle. Haven't come close to beating the game yet but I keep throwing it on for a quick play. I'm racking up the hours already. Just this morning I died with 54 coins. 54 coins. I had gathered them all without a one-armed bandit or anything.

Ok. Sorry Internet. I'm ready to be a grown up again. So.... But I'm past it, thank God. Back to enjoying the game. I'm definitely going to take a leaf out of your book Nachimir and do a little reading ahead for the next boss.

Ugh. I might be done with this game. I have a pretty limited amount of time to play games, and I don't appreciate spending that time trying to beat a boss that is so completely out of kilter with how I've been playing the game for almost twenty hours. I can't kill this boss. Call me a baby or whatever, but I'm pretty furious really. What an absolute joke. Clearly I've done something wrong because this boss is close to one-shot killing me, even with the gun attacks, not the ones that are actually meant to be almost one-shot kill. Done. Thanks for the help and advice guys.

Yeah, I tried a Destructoid podcast over a year ago and Sterling spent most of his little "spontaneous" rant saying c**t as many times as he could. What a child. I think Destructoid tends to be a bit too tabloid in its outlook, which is really saying something, for video games. It's a pity.

I've been in ruts before. I was in one for a while recently, and am quite happy to be playing Deus Ex HR, though I have fitted in two sessions about eight days apart. New job, getting married, trying to read more fiction (i.e. non-work reading) and it gets hard in a hurry. I'm already starting to think my transition back to PC gaming might be complete; really not sure I need game consoles anymore at this point. There's no time to play the games, and there's plenty of good games on PC to take up time I do have.

Yup, I'm an idiot. I looked up the controls. I must have toggled the auto-hide on my hotbar. I am now at the second mini-boss. I'm sure everyone is sick of hearing this, but I'm sorry, I have to vent. What the hell?

Um, throwing guards? Ok, that sounds cool. I am back into the game after an absolutely rancid couple of weeks at work. I'm still supposed to be busy but that can wait until tomorrow. Also, a quick point... My item tab at the bottom of the screen has gone missing. I went for a quick look online and whenever I do this I'm reminded of why I never really hung out in forums (and certainly never contributed) until Idle Thumbs. They're kind of awful. Maybe you veterans can help me out here. This "bump" thing on threads, that's annoying right? Particularly if the person is "bumping" within an hour or even half an hour of the original post? Anyway, glad to be playing Deus Ex on a Sunday morning and not working.

How did you find the ending, story wise? I remember being really excited about the third game, when I finished GOW2, and being frustrated I'd be waiting a couple of years for the next chapter. Not a massive fan of the fiction exactly, I just liked the way the second game comes to a close.

That definitely makes sense to me. How frustrating, though. Just completely pulls you out of this fantastic experience and forces you to play a video game you don't like for anywhere between five and twenty minutes. Really bizarre.

So.. late to the party here, but just got to the first boss battle. I had heard about them of course, and figured that they sounded boring and took you out of the experience. I had no idea they were just beyond fucking stupid. I just die, over and over again. I have a hugely upgraded pistol and I've been silently taking dudes out for eight hours, and now I just have a huge dude with a gun walking at me. Brilliant.

Ah ha! Thanks guys. I got to the blacksmith and there is hope anew!

Cheers, I did notice that. The drop attack was a major reason I defeated the boar. They're just a pain in my behind. I think I'm just rubbish at this game! Funny enough though, just posting here has gotten me interested in throwing it on a bit later... So perhaps the bug is still there after all! I have gotten a bit further, and got the Knight's shield after beating a much more powerful enemy, but was then killed by the same type of enemy I think, a little further on? I'll have to go on and explore again.

So, I'm in a bit of a funk with this game. Mainly because Deus Ex HR was around for a crazy price so I finally got it, but... I just defeated the Boar. I don't know what to do about the dragon and have no ranged anyway to do any cheap stuff. Those bloody archers up there above where the boar used to be are doing my head in! But yeah... not really posting to complain exactly. Just kind of drifting into a break from the game. I might throw it on later just in case that break turns into "I played that game once and I liked the start but then I didn't play it anymore"
