  1. PSN Hack

Has anybody managed to actually get on PSN yet? I live in the UK and it's still down for maintenance apparently.
  2. PSN Hack

Sounds like a win to me, if Sony aren't just trying to make us trust them and have actually implemented all these new firewalls and "early intrusion detection" systems then that's great, but I'd imagine that at the same time, they've lost so much by now that I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't exactly finished but rolling this out anyways. And then, as I finished typing this I heard the words,"Welcome Back Package." so all is good.
  3. Modern Warfare 3

I think that by now, my interest in Call of Duty is only to see whether they can actually make a better game than the last, that and the fact that it's a social black hole that has sucked up all of my friends will most likely lead me to buy it and play it more than I would probably like. With that said, they can be quite fun games if pulled off well, I spent way too much time on World at War and Modern Warfare 2 just because they were good games to play with friends. I guess what I need to do is banish all of my friends from my life, pick up Deus Ex and System Shock 2 then play until completion, then I'll be a Real Gamer.
  4. PSN Hack

Sony just released a security update/download thing that's meant to help out somehow. I'm not quite sure what it does though, because they won't let me download it, but non-the-less you can read about all it's supposed effects here: http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2011/05/07/service-restoration-update/

  6. Life

I'd love to read about that rising sun place. As for me, I'm as happy as could be, just got some Ben and Jerry's Cookie Dough Icecream, a massive thorntons toffee cake, and 4 mini cheesecakes for £2.30 down at ASDA. The funny thing is, the ice cream cost £2. Yeah, your forum just became my facebook.
  7. An Idle Thumbs Christmas Song Proposal

I'm thinking more along the lines of... Oh, The Wizard, The Wizard He is a magical man, oh what fun it is to cast improooved spectral blade
  8. Operation Stealth

I have never played either of said games, but I agree with you. I would like to see a game with actual stealth and espionage mechanics, as opposed to Splinter Cells generic, "stay out of the line of sight and you're fine" style. However, I would like to see a truely quite good, online stealth FPS. I've yet to try Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood which might have some stealthy multiplayer, but from what I've heard so far, it's not quite what I want it to be.
  9. An Idle Thumbs Christmas Song Proposal

I'd be up for this, just as long as I can do it with some real life friends to hide my voice. EDIT: Enclosed in these spoiler tags are the full lyrics, so we can possibly write the song and assign before just mishmashing it? Don't even ask why I bothered with spoiler tags, I'd sort it out...BUT THERE'S A DOCTOR REQUIRED IN THE SLICER ROOM!!!
  10. Recently completed video games

I was fairly sure that by the time you get to rebirth the interregator had made it pretty obvious that you weren't supposed to Which is why I didn't put that into the original post.
  11. Recently completed video games

I also have completed this game somewhat recently. The plot was nice, I'll admit I quite enjoyed going through it, although it pulled the nastiest stunt on me. When you're on Rebirth Islandm you know that (as Mason and Reznov) you're doing the wrong thing, yet the game still forces you to do it. There is no way to not play that level, but then again, I was somewhat reassured in teh fact taht it was all my memories, and couldn't be taken back anyway. Just played some Zombie on "Five" with a friend and two randoms, one random was really helpful, communicated well and knew what he was doing, the other asked stupid question constantly, sounded about twelve and was really quite annoying. It gives me nostalgia of World at War in that sense.
  12. CODBLOPS

I'm on the PS3, but adding too many people causes frame rate issues so I'll only add one or two people.
  13. Stockpiling

I think the good sir Yahtzee, of Zero Punctuation, illustrated this point fantastically in his video review of Fallout 3. FRom what I remember his words were something like this. "So you've got a pile of ammo and weapons about three times the size of you, packing enough explosives to demolish a small country, and yet you're flicking peas off of a massive spider, just incase behind the massive spider, there's an even bigger one." Now I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, other examples include: Never using any kind of weapon or equipment to make a first person shooter easier (never using flashbangs, stun grenades etc) Leaving three quarters of your army back at your base in an RTS, just incase of evasion and the seventy watch towers weren't enough. And hoarding phoenix downs, ethers, chocobo feathers and mega-potions in Final Fantasy (also works with Elixers, X-Stats and Super Revives in Pokémon) So does anybody see the issue here, game developers are actually making the game easier for us, and yet time after time we ignore their hints. I believe that there is obviously some psychology behind this, but not only is it a comical topic, it's an interesting one too. What do you say? Should we spam our rocket launchers and Ethers? Or should we save our tanks and our high power pistols for the last boss fight?
  14. Stockpiling

I think my best example was in Final Fantasy X, all the way throughout the game "Sin" is described as the hardest thing since obsidian in Minecraft. Apparently he plunges into the world, kills a few thousand people and then goes away for a couple of years. So throughout the game I do hoard all of my items, my phoenix downs and my mega-potions. Only to finally get to Sin and kill him with 4 hits (one to get inside him, one to kill a weird thing inside, and then 2 [one just to knock him into his final mode, otherwise would have been one] to actually kill him)
  15. Gaming In-Jokes

Oh Jesus, please burn the thread.
  16. I am disappoint with the internet... Sprite spite!

I would have quite liked to see you do this actually, most likely because mega man fanboys would try and slag you off, causing in an internet war which would lead into the real world and you would be on the news! Or maybe I'm looking too far into this.
  17. The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)

Have you heard Russell Howard's cancer song? All entirely true (and by that I mean they were printed) from the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail = Win Although I am genuinely concerned about anybody that believes it...
  18. Gaming In-Jokes

Black Ops had the trophy/achievment entitled "Eaten by a Grue" which was sorta funny in a way. What was more funny was my sudden envisionment of some Treyarch employees sitting around a desk after having completed the Multiplayer and Solo Campaign and just saying,"You know, this game sorta feels empty." "Hey, I have an idea! Let's put that old computer game, Labrynth in it!" "Shut up Steve, we can't put more graphics into our game, the PC's and PS3's would surely explode." "How about we put Zork in there?" "Tom, what the hell is Zork?" "Google it." And so, the Zork minigame esque style thing came into Black Ops.
  19. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 5

Oops. you may have noticed that I recently died. So if anybody else wants to take the lead, then my mind would be at ease. I'm extremely sorry, but I'm going to have to drop out of this one...
  20. Delete this thread

Je comprends donc pas expliquer. Car je suis faible dans l'esprit, et savoir un peu le français.

Oh, so the W is flipped because it's the left-most letter of the right-most word. Then that 3 is translated through Gabe Newell's 1337 skillz to turn into a E, which is then slotted into the anagram?
  22. Delete this thread

    Don't you need an extra "e" ?
  23. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 5

Try notes instead It also appears that I can't count. Now there is two spaces left.
  24. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 5

I don't know whether I'll roleplay mine, and short-sight decisions makes for interesting gameplay. Two spaces left guys. Also, I'm a tight bastard and don't really have all the money to set up this game (I was going to be hosting two games, one for us and one for another forum) so if you guys wanna send me a pound or something that would be great (if not, then that's cool too, I'll suffer.)
  25. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 5

I doubt it, I'm not even buying the points until saturday, so there's no way that I can start before then.
