A friend posted this in the skype chat this morning, seen as though everyone here seems to be a fan of Skyrim and Skyrim videos, fill your boots! XsMdWEpnZV8&feature=g-all-u&context=G24af921FAAAAAAAATAA

In reading that article I found it at first to be slightly comical that the affection of him to his buddies slowly dwindled down to not caring whether they live or die. Then I realised this is in no way comical, and I felt sad.

So far I've only put about 50 hours into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but I still feel that it is good enough to warrant it as my GOTY.cx. For a start, Oblivion completely enthralled me, and I was really looking forward to the sequel, I made sure to drip feed my excitement by not watching too many trailers or watching any gameplay of the game, and I'm happy to say that it was worth it. The world just feels massive and full of grandeur, though it captures the atmosphere of the events that surround it fantastically, although it's not unusual to feel as if the world is slightly dis-jointed at times. The visuals, though I'm only playing on the PS3 (Not my first choice, I might pick it up again later down the line for PC) are really inventive and, though it's not THE most beautiful game I've ever seen, it's a far cry from the dirty colours of other games. I also don't normally notice a soundtrack unless it really adds something, and I think that certain battles and setpieces within this game are ramped up to 11 by a riveting piece in the background. That said, I've yet to play Saints Row: The Third, so that may top this...

Having some great fun on WordFeud just playing with my Uncle, if any thumbs would like to add me my username be SometingStupid. This is definitely something that we need more of on phones, and quite frankly on the internet too, we should all be able to play a game of Scrabble, or Chess, or any other undisclosed board game over the web.

You didn't really explain in what way people cheated, which I think could offend legitimate players. I'd call that tarring everyone with the same brush, even if it was un-intentional.
-
So, new podcasts a guarantee? You heard it here first.
-
I agree that it's a hideous and awful thing to do, but I think it's unfair to tar everyone with the same brush, some people paid legitimately for their games and it went to good charities/developers.
-
Well I'd be definitely be up for some rounds of one of these games, but I'm heading towards WordFeud due to my distinct hatred of Zynga.
-
I wouldn't exactly say that buying games is cheating a system in which you buy games, they just happened to buy the games at a non-designated price.

Suddenly I'm beginning to wonder what the probability of you winning would be where the entire forum to gift you their coal.

This is always something that I love to hear about but seldom manage to immerse myself so far within a game that I can defy the obvious objective in favour of self gratifying tasks which often consume time. Of course my first example stems from Skyrim because I've been playing the hell out of it, tending to my house by arranging bookshelves and cooking meals regularly soon became too tedious for my liking, especially when the results are visible only to me. However, I often enjoy recounting and listening intently to stories of video game events such as in The Elder Scrolls and Far Cry 2, if this falls within the same category.
-
I'd agree that the storyline is the best written of the series, but that didn't stop me from getting the major plot twist way before it happened. Also, considering it's an RPG based on granting rewards for completing tasks, I'm constantly annoyed that there is never a reward for truly "Catching Them All" especially when the system of fun battles and legendary pokemon are already in place and could most likely fill that role with ease.

Thank you all for the support, I'll definitely be looking into AGS for a little while while I wrap my head around it, and I have a notepad with which I have already jotted down some ideas and what my head dubs to be 'screenshots' of an intended game. I'm starting to think that 2D is a much better avenue for the kind of games I wish to develop, I think it gives games a certain degree of linearity that many 3D games don't offer, obviously this makes sense in a massive RPG such as The Elder Scrolls, but I definitely don't intend to make an Elder Scrolls at this point in time.

Pen and paper really isn't my forte as far as artistic skills go, I'm actually just looking to be able to do it all, technical stuff included. I'd love to check out Stencyl actually, sounds like it would fit in great for what I (and probably a lot of other people) would like to do. I also really need to play more indie games, I have two of the humble bundles and a lot of love for Terraria, but I need to get around to playing them more. These are people I will check out. Yeah, I understand that for a lot of people, ideas does not equate to inclination. I really didn't want to come through like that in this thread/post as I realise that when you spend so long making a game, you can't just give up half way through. If anything, art is my weakest subject, though I may mess around with art styles that suit me more, or I may grab a friend to help out with that.

I appreciate both of your help, due to a link that lead to another, I'm taking a brief excursion into GameMaker to learn a bit of the logic behind making a game, it's going pretty well so far though I don't have anything solid to show for it yet. After that I might delve into the flash frameworks as recommended. Though if anyone has anything more to add, please do!

The credits for Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty are rolling slowly up my TV screen as I type this. To be honest, I'm disappointed with the game, even though it's just to serve as a creative interlude between the previous and next games, I still feel that a bit more work could have been put into it as the setting was the only thing that really felt new. The games are notorious for being rather light-hearted, and the game at least stuck to that, I got it for free from the PSN welcome back package but I'm starting to feel slightly cheated, I think inFamous might have been a better choice. Still though, it passed the time and I can now say I've completed it I suppose.

It makes me sad that I don't have the money to buy this game despite being really excited for it. Oh well, shall wait a while and pick it up some time, in the meanwhile I'm still reading your guys' stories and gaining much enjoyment from them without having to fully understand the context, that's one of the things that I loved most of Oblivion, I could tell stories to my friends of in-game events that had happened in an either comical or atmospherically cool way and they'd still understand everything that I was saying without having to have ever played the game.

It's stuff like this that got my real life friends into Science, that and Ferrofluids, it makes me happy that science can be so cool.

I'm down for some Counterstrike, I'm absolutely terrible at it and haven't played anywhere near enough as most people have, but I'd love to play some with some Thumbs. -

Well if we ignore spam bots posting on 2 month old threads, I haven't really noticed enough of the multiplayer stuff coming back (bar Minecraft and Neptune's Pride/ that other one that I've conveniantley forgotten the name of) but I'm definitley in for most of it. TF2 Magicka Dawn of War Anything that's free All sounds good to me -
There's already something eerily disturbing about the synchronised marches that you see in Korea, and how amazingly perfect they are. Putting that to a beat? Oh wow...

I played it on the PS3, and I can tell you that it has reasonably interesting concepts, but the execution of them feels quite lacklustre. Human is just a bog-standard FPS campaign with a couple cool weapons and some clunky controls (or at least on the PS3 they were, I imagine they may be a bit smoother on PC) Alien is a slightly annoying free running/stealth thing. It's a nice idea, but you might get slightly frustrated at times. Predator allows you to play as a stealthy tank, that has to kill lots and lots of things. But you might like it more than me.

Thank god, I thought that I just wasn't smart enough to get it.

I don't really think that I enjoy building things enough to make that a fun thing to do, presuming I have the right end of the stick. On a different note to save me the trouble later: haven't found all that many new things in 1.8 as of yet, although I've only played it for five in-game days. However, i did encounter some endermen, had to deal with the hunger mechanic, and forced myself to not eat the rotting meat. The promise of new things makes me want to keep playing, and keep playing I shall.
