Overwatch - That time Blizzard made a non-Diablocraft game.

Yeah, I appreciate that they included f.ex. an Indian woman, but did they really need to give her design a diamond on her forehead? And if you read her backstory, she does "light architecture" based on "weaving her constructs in the motions of the traditional dance of her homeland." Same thing with the arab character. It's cool that they took steps to include her, and that her design isn't sexual at all, but then she's an Egyptian with an Eye of Horus tattoo and Cleopatra-style briads. Her helmet is also bird-shaped, aluding to Horus again. In both cases, and with the Japanese Samurai guy ("Hanzo", of course), I feel they lean too heavily on stereotypes. Compared that to the Indian character in Dreamfall: Chapters. She has a pitch-perfect Indian accent and brown skin, but nothing else we connect with (stereo)typical Indian culture. -

As someone who's big 2 online games over the last 7 years have been TF2 and Dota 2, I'm very interested to see where this goes. Watching the character videos Singlespace posted above showed me how the characters will have more unique powers like Dota, and how those potentially can be chained (Tracer dashing forward, sticking someone with a mine, and then time-warping back). I'm glad they have tried to be diverse with the characters, and while I don't mind the art style, I agree that they have overdesigned a bit. Though with the diversification, there's still some unecessary stereotyping. =/ -
Yeah, I second this. Because of what people have shared in this thread, I started doubting my general apathy, not realising it could also be a sign of depression, and started working on making more positive decisions in my life.

I wonder if the discussion we had about Dan Ryckert and coasting through life based on high intelligence also applies to TB? He's definitely eloquent and quick-witted, maybe he has learnt that he can always talk him self through any situation, without stopping to think about the values inheret in what he's actually saying. And now he has babbled himself into a corner. (This is not an excuse for him, just wondering out loud about it.) By the way, in one of the linked TB posts, he says that Anita "inserted herself into the conversation", by releasing her video, half implying she deserves it for getting involved. But this guy also produces video, surely he of all people should know that videos of that caliber takes months to produce, and the release date has probably been set for a long time. In addition, the subject matter of the video wasn't even remotely connected to the conversation at the time, it was the harassers that started lumping everything together with the brand "SJW". Re: KingOfPol, that's fascinating. I wonder if he has any devoted followers that will second-guess Gamergate after his statement? They seem to be slowly imploding at this point.

I'm happy you're still around too, Cine. True story, I was reading the "Ethics" thread just a few days ago, and wondering why you weren't posting anymore, because your posts are always so good and straight to the point.

Somehow, the only one from the new series I didn't like is in fact "The Gamer". Wouldn't mind getting him just for the controller, though.

Yeah, and TotalBiscuit in the back, "InternetAristocrat" with the wig, and the skull is also one of the youtubers, I think. No idea about the rest. It's interesting that they depict their "enemy" as a many-headed monster that needs to be defeated, not equivalent evil warriors or people they simply disagree with. I would actually love to see Leigh and Anita in bad-ass demon armor in this style.

I want that wizard so much. And the goth. And basically everyone of the new minifig series. And yes, I also want Lego store stories.

Let us take this opportunity to once again acknowledge how good Diddy Kong Racing was.

Oh my god, so he doesn't even know the oft-referenced portraits are yours? That is excellent.

That's only a problem if she's very prudish. There's some gratuitous angles that made me wrinkle my nose, but most of the game is just a beautiful mess of weapons and particle-effects. Try checking out the Giant Bomb quick look or other gameplay videos first. I'd go for Bayonetta if you're more interested in a single player experience. I played it through this weekend and had a blast, and after finishing the story I'm hungry to go back in and unlock more stuff and get better medals.

Sorry! I've only scanned the last couple of pages, but thought I made sure it wasn't posted before.

Someone spent a week on the Gamergate forums, and found that while they could debate calmly and even agree that trolls were hurting them, there was a strong will against any kind of organization or active uprooting of said trolls, basically making it impossible for them to achieve anything positive.

I'm liking this new patch from an eSports-perspective, ESL One and Starladder has had some crazy matches. Team Secret is living up to expectations from being a team made up of some of my favourite players. NoTail in particular has been on fire, especially on Earthshaker and Io. This was the highlight of Starladder for me. After a botched teamfight, Kuroky is escaping on Medusa, and gets surrounded by all of EG. Any other player is dead then, but he has Puppy and NoTail at his back. Puppy uses blinding light to push everyone away, and NoTail uses fissure at the exact right time, catching all of EG on one side and Kuroky on the other, then force-staff him to safety. The timing is absurd. Look at Nyx at the bottom left. When the fissure starts, he's on the wrong side, but is pushed over just on time.

Here's a fascinating look on some data from three days of the hashtag on twitter. Oh, and... Q: why was the GamerGater standing in a field? A: Because he has no idea what a strawman argument actually is.

Good news everyone, one of the guys tackling him is Paul Rudd. [edit] Or maybe not. I want to believe.

Hell yeah. I couldn't find her original helmet, sadly. Her sword was one of the first chrome pieces. You could collect a full set of armor from the other sets:

Gah, it's frustating that new stuff comes out over there before here, even though we're so close to Denmark and a Danish toy chain is the biggest retailer. By the way, I went through my Lego chest from my childhood, and grabbed some minifigs for my shelf:

That's adorable! Congratulations.

I've been itching to play D&D5, online or IRL. But I'm currently in a SW: Edge of the Empire online game, so I don't think I will join another online campaign. PS, in the current campain, it reaaaally helps that everyone is in the same timezone.

I've seen people tweeting and talking about how good 80 Days is, but I had no idea it had writing and story. I had the impression it was a purely mechanical game.

To be fair, isn't an unsatisfying ending thematically appropriate for Firefly? Re Carcassone: We picked up the South Seas variant at a book store sale, and I am happy with it. The board mechanic is the same, but you have resource tokens you have to gather in different combinations in order to get points.

I think it's because that from their perspective, they see no difference between the sex positivity of Oglaf and the explotativeness of, say, DOA: Beach Volleyball. So since they can't distinguish, in their eyes the "SJWs" hate everything sexy or sex-themed, not just the part that's explotative or misogynist.

Don't forget they've confirmed The "Dwayne Johnson" Rock as Black Adam. I'm with Jon, I have basically no excitement for any of these projects. I'm casually hopeful for a Wonder Woman movie because it's a female heroine. I'm reminded of a tweet that sums up my feelings on DC. "DC makes good icons. Marvel makes good characters."

Hm, that all happened after I was busy screencapping it to also ridecule him.
