I guess this is a month-old controversy now, but this guy is editor in chief? I am actually a gaming journalism purist and refuse to waste my time on sites that don't respect their readers. I don't read Kotaku (they are all terrible people), 1up (they fired everybody), or Gamespot (the Kane & Lynch thing). Now I get to add Gamespy to the list of sites I will never visit again. IGN? Comparatively, it's quality games journalism!

Announcing GTA V now implicitly confirms that there will be an Xbox 360 version. That implicitly confirms that the game's performance requirements will be modest (at the low end, at least), and that it will be a city that can exist in only a teeny tiny amount of RAM at a time. Hooray for aging hardware! Rockstar could still get a fine game out of that, but it's difficult to see them adding things like persistent traffic, "living economies", and other features we all have on our GTA wishlists. So prepare for more of the same!

Just beat Deus Ex: Human Revulsion. Man, what a terrible endgame. SPOILER:

I actually don't think I'm going to purchase Skyrim for quite a while, simply because I have so much of New Vegas left to explore. It's taking me forever. But "forever" in a good way. I have only fast-traveled once in New Vegas (to escape falling halfway through the ground in a pile of rocks), and have taken many hours to get only halfway through the game. I don't mind taking my time. Is fast travel an Elder Scrolls thing? I'll ignore it if it's in there, but as someone new to Bethesda gaming I didn't know if that was an addition with Fallout 3 or not.

Shocking news: GameSpy: Skyrim Campaign Only Lasts Two Hours Disappointing, but then again this is the same company that made Morrowind, a game that only lasts for .

I have this as a Twitter saved search. It's often rewarding: Who knew our own Mr. Breckon was such a terrible roommate?

Great news! I actually am not at all familiar with Big Fish Games. Is it a decent service? The Last Express is a fun game, even if you suck at it and have to hold a walkthrough the entire time you play.

I got past the part where My countdown to tears is over. I guess I should finish the game, though it seems I'm not quite as close as I thought.

I haven't progressed in Human Revolution in two weeks (or even visited Idle Thumbs) because I'm stuck. I got to a point where This is a valid story twist, but it leaves me so exhausted and disgusted that I can't bear to go on. I really don't know if I'll finish this game.

There's twenty-two minutes and thirteen seconds of recent XCOM footage to get upset about! nAmvP4w2ts0 For a small team of scrappy fans doing a Mass Effect Total Conversion, I think they're doing an OK job! (Wait, this is a professional studio? With that map...?) What's hilarious is that they've turned this into another game with a helicopter conversation sequence. The first time I saw that was in . The scene was also used in (twice, I think). It even shows up in Fallout 3's Broken Steel. And here it is again, boldly reimagined!

My resistance to buying a 3DS is running thin now that Gargoyle's Quest is available in the eShop. This is one of those Game Boy games I should have played the first time around, but never did.

That's a valid design choice for a creature that is supposed to be a mother figure, but do the annelids need to feed on breast milk? Wait, this topic is supposed to be about Deus Ex?

"...therefore it's OK for me to break into my co-workers' offices and steal all their candy bars. I'm in grief!"

Who knows if anything in the first game will happen, either? It's retconnin' time!

Ooh, I didn't even know that character existed. Maybe I'll approach him. Thanks!

I came to a point in New Vegas where I don't know if I can keep playing. I've given my loyalty to Mr. House, obeying each of his commands. However, in his latest mission, he's commanded me to I'm ethically opposed to this quest! I've also ruined my reputations with the other factions by choosing Mr. House, so I'm not sure if it's still feasible to switch sides and get to any sort of an ending. So I might just pick up Deus Ex tomorrow and stop playing New Vegas, a game I have been playing for three months straight.

Almost no one finishes games, but what about episodes?
mikemariano replied to toblix's topic in Video Gaming
I'm only in this thread to wait for Tanukitsune's comment. I pretend I'll finish every game; they'll just sometimes get displaced (I stopped playing Bully in order to play New Vegas for 4 months). Really, though, you owe a game nothing, and there's always YouTube if you don't feel like it's worth it to finish a game but you're still curious about the ending. -
Countdown to tears.

Ugh, we spent all day talking about nothing but DRM (for this game and From Dust). Let's talk about start to crate instead! We know Human Revolution will have plenty of crates, but I think we won't see any in the opening scenes. Only in the first "real" mission will we see crates in their full glory. Erik Wolpaw on Deus Ex: "Finally, a crate game for me, the thinking man." PS: That Old Man Murray article includes a quote from Erik Wolpaw: "Science is not about your feelings." That could easily be a Portal quote.

There's still time for them to drop Steamworks and add some always-on DRM! But you're right; if it wasn't for the Screwattack smuggled footage I wouldn't have been excited for this game a year ago. Hearing that people enjoyed the leaked preview build later on was even more reassuring. Great guerrilla marketing, team!

Ooh, even though this demo has been shown off in bits and pieces elsewhere, it's great to see it as one big playthrough. Dumb question: do The Elder Scrolls games have anything like VATS, or is combat strictly real time? Do I have to be accurate when I throw a fireball at somebody?

You have to speak with your crew member who guards the hold of shiny trinkets first. After you do that the S-es show up. The most difficult one for me was the one where you have to I figured out what I had to do early on, but it was so hard to do!
-
And a year later: It's still part of me.
-
I spent a few hours last year rising and falling, rising and falling, hitting every spike just to get that trinket. I entered another state of consciousness and became one with the game. VVVVVV is now a part of me. Is it worth it? It changed who I am as a human being. So, no.

Alive? Now it's undead! Now you can play Call of Duty on the goddamn moon. I'm wondering how far they'll go in portraying moon movement. The article mentions low gravity, but will these zombies moan in no atmosphere? If astronauts have never done more than carefully shuffle (or bound) over the moon's surface, will they force you to take the same types of steps? Can you impale a zombie with an American flag from one of the Apollo missions? I will never play this and probably won't even search for a Let's Play on YouTube, but these are the questions taking up space in my head.
