  1. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

    Nice router.
  2. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

I played through a few of the first puzzles in Escape from Monkey Island tonight. I'm curious to hear what Zeus thinks of the plot and characters so far. It's all slightly different from what I remember. Also, my feeble emulation has left me without background music. Every step that Tank Control Guybrush takes echoes on the cobblestones of Mêlée Island.
  3. The Stanley Parable

Semi-replying to Merus in the recently completed video games thread: The main storyline of The Stanley Parable leaves a lot of unresolved questions, like where his co-workers went or the purpose of the deception. As far as I can tell, answers to those questions aren't even hinted at in the rest of the game. The story changes completely for each path. Is that true?
  4. This is exactly how I remember the game looking on my uncle's Commodore 64. So good! And good luck selling tea! It was nothing but drugs and slaves for my uncle and cousins.
  5. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Mac Gaming is hard! Installing this game through Wineskin went fine, but resulted in horrible strobing effects. I discovered that fullscreen seems to be the culprit and I will have to play this game in a window I've never installed a CD crack before and I guess technically I still haven't, since I had to open up REGEDIT.EXE inside my Wineskin and make the changes manually to avoid hitting the D:\ drive I don't feel like plugging in every time I play. But now all that's done and I get to enjoy some timeless Monkey Island humor:
  6. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Zombies Ate My Neighbors and Ghoul Patrol! I tried playing these SNES games a few months ago and got slaughtered by a giant baby.
  7. Yeah, the aesthetic is such a weird thing to think about. I played Commander Keen in CGA so what was supposed to be a colorful adventure was just turquoise and purple to me.
  8. "Milo is the Problem Child of Kinect—like literally, not figuratively," just had me laughing out loud on the train, causing someone to choose not to sit next to me. Well done!
  9. Wow, that never came out in the US? They definitely showed a picture of it in Nintendo Power. I thought it was a SNES Mouse game, but that footage uses controller moves. EDIT: Here's what I read 21 years ago and didn't bother to verify with Wikipedia.
  10. Recently completed video games

Wow, I've been playing all of Octodad with a trackpad and the final boss battle is impossible. To know I have to dig out a mouse and adjust sensitivity settings just to beat the game seems intense.
  11. Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter

Come to think of it, Tex Murphy games are basically non-stop dad jokes.
  12. That's amazing. And a very good point!
  13. Shadowrun Kickstarter

I am very near the end of Dragonfall playing as a Decker, and I'm very glad there are many more opportunities for decking.
  14. Wait, was "gestalt" on our dead language list for Idle Thumbs?
  15. Good modern golf game

Ha, when you said early access golf games were on Steam I thought you meant early games in the Links series from Access Software. That is not what you want.
  16. The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

Bee & Spoke A modern eatery.
  17. Idle Thumbs 157: Molymoto

NO why did I click that? And I was waiting for someone to mention Phil Fish's comments on the cast. It's ridiculous, though, to depict Japan as a monolith that only creates troubled Final Fantasy games. One of the best parts of freeindiegam.es was seeing the Japanese indie games—that indie games are more than just Phil Fish.
  18. Shadowrun Kickstarter

Yes; you weren't supposed to read the short stories until after playing, so that was genuinely meant to be a surprise. You have to create a new character for Dragonfall. Unless you hack it!
  19. Idle Thumbs 157: Molymoto

No, but I was freaked out by the spliced-in Nick in this episode, plus the spliced-in Sean a few episodes back talking about the store. Even Sean coming back after leaving during Reader Mail threw me off!
  20. Idle Thumbs 157: Molymoto

Awww, you didn't have to do a cast! You're too good to us!
  21. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

I have my PC copy of Escape from Monkey Island sitting in front of me, unsure of how I would install it on my MacBook. Residual's official release doesn't yet support it and there's no wrapper on PortingTeam that's still active. I guess I could try creating my own Wineskin, but I haven't had much luck doing that for 3D games. If the PS2 version doesn't work out, Zeus, let me know and I'll figure some way to get you the PC version.
  22. Flappy48, aka The End of Human Civilization

I have been sick in bed for a week with nothing to show for it save for this:
  23. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

I just finished the game tonight. Still so good. Credits reveal: Grim Fandango reuses music from Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe? I would never be able to identify where or what is used. Maybe the music sting when you see the airship?
