    Argh!
  2. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

  3. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

Only halfway through, but pretty sure I've only even heard 7 and 13. I'm bad at this! Guess I'll keep listening to chiptune versions of Axel F over and over.
  4. General Video Game Deals Thread

Well, just bought Gone Home again. It's actually the first time this has happened to me in a Humble Bundle. They plan these well!
  5. Life

Or you can end up like me, pushing 40, moving back in with your old roommate for a long commute into NYC with no equity and no prospect for ever earning anything ever!
  6. Campo Santo: Firewatch Will Have "Unlimited Antlers"
  7. Nintendo 3DS

Ha, I just saw this and my first thought was that Tegan would go nuts for it. Gamestop exclusive? But the only games retailer I've been to in years has been Nintendo World.
  8. Ello.co

This looks good! I'm interested. Do they have open APIs? Non-crappy business model is great, but openness in how people want to scoop out their own data is also important.
  9. I guess what I'm really asking is does someone want to recreate Firewatch on the Idle Thumbs Minecraft server?
  10. What kind of crafting system does this game have? How many trees and rocks do you have to break apart in order to create tools? Can you craft gunpowder and combine it with the wood to make the fireworks?
  11. Recently completed video games

Those animations were always poor; Malik's flapping was especially distracting when I first played the game. The animators were too busy creating awesome kills, I guess.
  12. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

    Kill The Alligator And Run
  13. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

I still like everything about The Simpsons! 25 more years!
  14. Idlethumbs changed my life forever

I want Nick Breckon to get really husky, grow a beard, and become my papa bear.
  15. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

Wow. EDIT: Ugh, of course I start a new page with that. This essay was wonderful to read and made an excellent one-two punch with me re-reading Nathan Grayson's "Love You All" Rock, Paper, Shotgun farewell article just beforehand.
  16. There was a lot of swearing in the trailer! And the live demo! Nearly every one of Henry's possible responses included an s-bomb. Ranger Smith never swore at me!
  17. Anyone Remember?

Clicking through from that podblast brought me to one of my favorite episodes: "Episode Forty-Five" from five years ago this month. One of the first topics discussed is the miserable "Subject Zero/Jack" trailer for Mass Effect 2. Chris's description of the character crosscuts with audio clips of the insufferable trailer. It's interesting to hear Chris—in 2009—describe the general grossness of big budget gaming as something that is becoming a problem. Chris and Jake compared it to the tasteless ads in the hardware section of PC Gamer in the 90s. It was an anomaly, not the way they thought games were by default. And now, according to awful, entitled, vocal people on the Internet, this is the way games are by default—and how they always were by default. Don't believe them! Don't let them rewrite history! Listen to old episodes of Idle Thumbs instead!
  18. May it go the way of B A N A N A.
  19. Keiji Inafune's Mighty No.9

Wow, that Beta demo has no real level design. They might as well have Beck walking down a Final Fight street. Other than that, I don't see anything too wrong. Giving Beck limited power-ups based on his dash is a good corrective to Mega Man, where I rarely use special powers except in boss battles because I'm afraid to use them before I might need them!
  20. Keiji Inafune's Mighty No.9

    One guy will always remember!
  21. Consider Phlebas

I think this was my only Banks, too. I found the last section to be the most difficult to read, since it was just a protracted chase and fight with two unstoppable Idirians. I felt like I understood these pursuers better than any of the main characters.
  22. Based on the fingers I can only imagine Henry looking exactly like Wreck-It Ralph.
