  1. It was a lot of fun watching the player try to look at the map while staring into the sun, then finally realizing he had to turn away to be able to read it. Then he sent off an angry e-mail saying "Your map texture brightness is wrong!"
  2. Twin Peaks Discussion

    AMAZING
  3. cutepuppies11 asking the important questions:
  4. The Stanley Parable

This is a bizarre reason for thread-necromancy, but apparently Kevin Spacey plays The Stanley Parable in the new season of House of Cards? And he's the president now?
  5. Binding of Isaac: Rebirth

I finally beat Satan with Isaac—and turned into Guppy! Wow, I don't even know what that is. As far as I think I am (88 hours), I am barely halfway deep into this game. (Because I am bad at it.)
  6. I like goofy Hawk. Denise is now the only character on the show who does any actual law enforcement. I would have rather Josie never have come back at all. Oh, and scary photo of Andy:
  7. I am only now reading that this was the last episode of 1990, with nearly a full month's gap between this 12/15/90 episode and next episode's 1/12/91 premiere. I guess because of Christmas/New Years/etc. there isn't a huge need to have a cliffhanger (Andrew Packard?), but there's nothing in this episode that would make me anticipate what next year's Twin Peaks had to offer.
  8. Twin Peaks Discussion

Let's stop this SPOILERs stuff: A January 1991 discussion of how best to manage spoilers for people who aren't caught up with the latest episode of Twin Peaks (at that point Episode 21). Even then they struggled with the best way to do it! It also features the acronym WKLP which I didn't understand. Googling it reveals: Who Killed Laura Palmer.
  9. Twin Peaks Discussion

PS: Here's an article about a real-life Agent Cooper! Who, um, is possibly responsive for dozens of false convictions in arson cases...
  10. Life

EDIT: This should be in the Twin Peaks thread.
  11. Twin Peaks Discussion

    And the day after!
  12. Recently completed video games

It's the worst game I've ever played!
  13. Dishonored - or - GIFs By Breckon

Someone now has to make a Dishonored mod that replaces rats with gerbils. 'Gerbils replace rats' as main cause of Black Death
  14. Yes. I don't think any of us expected the James subplot to be good, but your screenshots represent something that needed to be good and failed.
  15. This is correct but the Hammond quote gets it wrong. I wonder if this takes Disney die-hards like Danielle out of the movie? "I always knew John Hammond's park would fail because he didn't know his Disney history!"
  16. Episode 295: Heroes of Might and Magic

Oh man, I played the original King's Bounty many times as a kid but always lost. I will feel nothing but shame when listening to this podcast.
  17. AMAZING When they opened Disneyland in 1956 nothing worked.
  18. This is much more convincing than your initial suspicion. My office just upgraded to Office 2013 (from 2003) and I am shocked to see how some of the bizarre Excel behavior I've endured has not been streamlined or changed at all. The only new work was slapping the Ribbon interface on top. I also use a software program daily designed for—and mostly by—people with an arts background. Programming-wise, I recognize that they've made decisions that no one with a computer science background would make and have probably made things harder for them to support and improve. But no one with a computer science background would have ever designed the software in the way that actually makes it useful for my industry. Oh, and I finally listened to Reader Mail. I know Jeremy! I've never met him, but he played Harry Potter in a short play I wrote years ago. I also saw his name in the program for a play I saw this weekend, saying one of his plays will have a public reading March 9th. Go Jeremy!
  19. Super Metroid Appreciation Station

That's where I gave up on both games and never looked back!
  20. I was annoyed two years ago when "selfie" became popular. "I say 'self-pic,'" I'd say, "'Selfie' sounds so much more shameful." But then I realized that taking a picture of yourself should carry some shame with it, so I could live with the popular term. But a selfie stick celebrates the selfie! Now I hate the word again.
  21. Anyone Remember?

I was just thinking of "You Gotta Use The Kid To Kill That Snake" yesterday! It has forever ruined all Randy Newman songs for me because what prompted me to think of it was the horrible weather in New York and me feeling like the bum from the start of his "I Love LA" video. You gotta have spice!
  22. Sister Steve had a rough life on the streets! Father Dowling had a messed-up son! I was expecting the worst when I clicked on that schedule but that actually wasn't a terrible time for television.
  23. Nonviolent and Alternative mechanics

Maniac Mansion is all about microwaving hamsters! Mechanically it's sentence construction, but then so is The Typing of the Dead. And Crusader Kings is insanely violent, at least when played Nick Breckon-style.
  24. So many new sets! Or at least new angles. We haven't seen those angles of the...Hayward house(?), the outside of Ben Horne's office, Truman's bedroom, or any of those high school settings. Was any of Catherine's story true? She showed no fear in front of Shelly at the end of season 1, so her statement to Truman about being scared doesn't seem right. There were also way too many scenes in which people talked about how great Agent Cooper is. Major Food Critic Spoilers: Is this good Cooper dialogue or bad Cooper dialogue?
