It took me a while to notice, but I did. I was paying close attention to my encumbrance, though.

What kind of spoilers are we talking about? Is there a big plot event near the end or something?

Designer Notes 9: Bruce Shelley
Cbirdsong replied to Soren Johnson's topic in Designer Notes Episodes
Both of these episodes make me really want a massive Sid Meier episode of either 'cast. -
It would be great if Jackbox Games applied their phone+TV model/tech to some more strategic games.

This feels like a pretty realistic bit of world building! Iceland/Greenland, that sort of thing.

Will the game let you buy a copy of a recipe you already know?
-
Yeah, the amount of stuff Geralt, veteran Witcher who longer has amnesia, lacks access to is narratively nonsensical. You would think he would have basic recipes at the start of the game, and not need to buy them from a vendor or find them in a box in a cave.

Nekker hearts in particular seem like a bug - you need five to make the base level oil, and you almost never get them.

I could never get the new haircuts to load in properly.

You should definitely head for Sen's Fortress. If you get really frustrated with it or the area that follows it, you could poke around the Catacombs, but the item you get in the area past Sen's will make play much more pleasant. A spoilered Sen's tip:

Very, very little.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
Cbirdsong replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
I've just started this. Scholar of the First Sin, never played the other one. Picked a sorcerer, made my way through the Forest of the Fallen Giants. I've just been hanging around co-oping and exploring to find secrets I missed, like I also saved up enough souls to buy- 1284 replies

I went to the Isle of Mists.

While exploring on the big island in Skellige, I found a cave full of It's located here.

The ease of outleveling the main quest fuels my opinion that leveling systems where stats scale significantly are a bad idea that cause more problems than they solve, especially in open-ended action games. It would be much more mechanically satisfying (and narratively logical) if the power curve was pretty small, and leveling mostly opened up more character build options.

Excellent. I'm at the quest called "The Isle of Mists" - how much more is there? Feels like I'm approaching an ending.

Official Giant Bomb Thread Mostly for Complaining About Dan
Cbirdsong replied to tegan's topic in Idle Banter
Yeah, I miss the weird locations and zany tone. It's way too organized and rigid now. In previous years, it felt like they were getting away with something. It's still a good listen, but only the "What is Firewatch?" segment has felt like the older shows.- 1367 replies

I really love the world they built but the narrative was super done after 3. Exploring a totally new galaxy seems a way that could keep build on what came before while introducing a whole bunch of new interesting stuff. I just hope it's not ultimately about defeating an apocalyptic threat again.
-
Novigrad tip to avoid frustration: You should play through any quests involving searching for a sorceress before doing any secondary quests for Triss. Spoiler chat about that:

I use the abandoned village in White Orchard as my crap storage location. So far nothing has disappeared! The inventory interface is definitely bad on both controller and mouse/keyboard. Ultimately, the icons are all samey and not distinct enough for how it's displayed.

I'm curious about others' conclusion to the questline with the goofy knight who wants to fight you to honor Maid Bilberry. I encountered him twice, and sparing him both times. The third time was Definitely an amusing way for that guy to go out, but have I reached the end of the quest line? Was there a different way for things to go?

Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))
Cbirdsong replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
Exciting! Seems like From has a pretty solid track record with Souls series DLC. -
I like this, but the lack of analog movement undermines it and generally bums me out, since I'm inclined to not behave in an immersion-breaking way in this sort of open-world game. I'm either walking along at a snail's pace so the dialogue still feels natural, or running full speed while the characters converse like they're standing still.

I wonder if it's episode 0 because next week, they'll have the new hire.- 1367 replies
