  1. I'll never forget the day I heard the wizard died.
  2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I've been a little luke warm on the single player so far (about 10 chapters in), but I started playing the co-op missions last night and they are fantastic. Could be my favorite co-op experience since L4D. Unfortunately there are only 3 missions, which seem to take about 20-30 mins to complete. I hope there are more you can unlock or more coming through dlc. They are pretty tough too. I've been playing them on easy and it's still a challenge. I highly recommend you give it a try. And if anyone wants to play, friend up IUMogg.

I wouldn't say that statement is unfair, but it does give you some guidance. Between the manual and in game info you can tell what weapons are stronger, what items do, what your stats affect, etc. I think some things are left intentionally obtuse to fit the tone of the game. The player and character are sent to this unknown world, so it would be odd if the game gave you a bunch of info upfront that your in-game character couldn't know. The game does require some trial and error and experimentation, but, for me at least, it adds to the sense of discovery and is rarely frustrating. I wonder if any of the thumbs are planning on trying it out. I would like to hear it discussed on the podcast.

That quick look is good to get a feel for the game, but I wouldn't use it to determine if you might be interested in the game. They have just scratched the surface and don't seem to totally understand all the systems. Also, the second world he went to with the octopus head enemy is too advanced for him. There are other places he should have gone.

I put in about an hour or so today. I'm hooked. I think this is the dungeon crawler I've been waiting for. I've tried games like Sacred 2 and Titan quest and they were just too focused on trash mobs it was hard to not get bored. This game is much more deliberate, where every enemy is a threat, instead of feeling powerful where enemies are only a threat if they are super powered or in large numbers. I feel vulnerable and isolated. That is combined with the great atmosphere and presentation that reminds me of the Team Ico games. In invokes feelings I had as a child going through a professional haunted house. Not being able to see what's coming and knowing that the whole thing is set up to get me is frightening and exhilarating. It is challenging, but not like most games are challenging. This game just requires precision. It doesn't rely on overwhelming number or twitch to create difficulty.

well it appears to be a mistake. I'll save any more of my self-righteous indignation until its worked out. http://frozenbyte.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=1754

So being forced to a buy a game with a 100% mark-up by misleading the buyer into thinking it was a bonus makes it alright?

Now that the game is out, it's listed as $20 on steam. WTF is up with that? Did the people who preordered get screwed?

I've been having a lot of fun with Infamous. So much of the game is well made that it easily over shadows the minor negatives. I really like the combat. I enjoyed it in the demo, but once you really get some skill it gets a lot better. In the demo all I did was basically shoot a ton and throw grenades to blow stuff up. Now I'm able to do stuff much more intentionally. Now when I land on a roof top with 4 or so enemies I can force push a few off, hit another with a stick grenade, and then run up and kick the last guy. They train you to use your powers and build them up at a nice pace so it doesn't feel so frantic. There are a lot of things they got right and great design decisions. I like that the collectibles show up on the radar when you use your scanning ability. The checkpoint system is fantastic. There is a good amount of variety in the side missions and the story missions are great. Anyone that didn't hate the demo should at least rent it.
