I'm with you on the inverted castle business, I played for a couple hours after unlocking it and realized I hadn't made a satisfying discovery in that time (and that playing with the Crissaegrim is no fun...) and retired from playing for the next little while. I'll come back and chip away at it over the summer though, because that game is fucking great. Shadow Complex looks like a lot of fun, as long as the controls are tight and it has some replayability I'll be happy, Gordon Turret notwithstanding.

Whoa whoa whoa Similar to Killzone 2, RE5 and Zeno Clash?! This sounds amazing! Joking aside, I will definitely be getting this, along with a bunch of other Live Arcade games this summer. It's a great time for digital downloads, to be sure. Also I just finished playing SOTN, might as well hit up some Super Metroid to continue the prep... Achievement spoiler:

For those of us who have cooled our collective jets about L4D2 and plan on picking it up, here's a bit more info to wet the ol' whistle. Three new unique infected... (edit: crummy old link removed, he mentions three fairly early in the interview) and more importantly... A GODDAMN CRICKET BAT a la Shaun of the Dead

Completely agreed, lady badass is the only way to play imo, I was really put off by the male Shepherd a lot of the time. <monotone> Conservative hopefulness, I've had my fingers crossed for an Elcor companion since the first time I spoke to one at the Citadel.</monotone> From the wiki - "The slow speed and immense size of the elcor makes them easy targets. Fortunately, their durable hide allows them to shrug off most incoming fire. Elcor warriors don't carry small arms; their broad shoulders serve as a stable platform for the same size of weapons typically mounted on Alliance fighting vehicles." ME2 is getting bigger weapons than the first and having an Elcor buddy would be a kickass venue for a heavy weapons platform.

New "old-school" LucasArts game announced tomorrow
Shakesbeard replied to toblix's topic in Video Gaming
Hahaha jesus christ man, is this a joke? You sound like THE internet "guy", the one who can't appreciate a good thing and decides that anyone who can appreciate it is a horrible subhuman beast who likes to get fucked in the ass. Well done, good sir, keep fighting the good fight so that we can learn from your shining example. This is great news, I've been trying to hunt down old adventure games I missed out on in my formative years and now I can do so from the comfort of my own home! Alright! Now the only challenge is figuring out what order to play them in. Chronologically makes the most sense, and should provide a decent frame of reference for a relative newcomer methinks... -
I think the important distinction to make here is that it seems like you have to earn the ability to "quick-kill" guys, if you look closely at the video you can see the red dots that are used for those kills only appear after taking enemies out the old fashioned way. I was skeptical about the "red-dot" system until this became apparent, now I'm looking forward to a nice balance of challenge and badassery.

Idle Worms 1: The Caecilian Connection
Shakesbeard replied to toblix's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I haven't bought it yet but I'll take the plunge if someone wants to play soon. Hell, I've got a couple hours right now if anyone is down with the cause... -
Just rolled out of bed and onto Shacknews (that...doesn't sound right) to find an update posted by a certain Mr. Breckon that should interest some folks...I'm off to watch it now, hell of a way to start the day! http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/59402 Just have to say, I love the little cartoony move intro splashes that show up to instruct you on combos and attacks and such, they're kinda awesome...

Hooray! While I will miss sitting on the couch or standing around a computer with friends I am still looking forward to blowing cute little annelids to kingdom come online. Apparently there will be new weapons (sentry guns, bunker busters, electro-magnets), landscapes and level types. (Full details on the Team17 Facebook) Any thumbs planning on buying it? I think I'm going to get it tomorrow, but I won't be playing it until Thursday due to certain obligations. GT: Shakesbeard

Worms Armageddon (live arcade release July 1)
Shakesbeard replied to Shakesbeard's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Don't worry, I've always been pretty bad myself (still had a ton of fun) and I'm sure we're not the only ones. Well, if anyone buys the XBLA version we should start organizing some games, looks like I'll probably pick up the PC one when it comes out as well... -
Whatever do you mean? Content: I just watched Zoolander for the first time and daaaamn I've been missing out, that movie just does not stop. Start to finish laughs for me and a few friends, who typically have very different tastes in movies (especially comedies).

Worms Armageddon (live arcade release July 1)
Shakesbeard replied to Shakesbeard's topic in Multiplayer Networking
So which way is everyone leaning on this? Because honestly, if I knew I'd have people to play with on the pc I would totally pass on the 360 and wait. I'm only really getting it for the online multiplayer anyway... -

Oh dammit I couldn't help but picture Chris putting sunglasses on at the end of that line. Peter Molyneux is smiling at your farts.

Idle Thumbs 31: The Future of Games
Shakesbeard replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I'm developing a disconcerting habit of listening to the entire archive over the course of a month or so, then thinking "what can I listen to now? weeelllll....." and going back to the start once more. That being said, I'm pretty sure a certain review of the Doom movie is mentioned in the second episode, does such a thing exist on our current-day internet? -
Thanks for the tips guys, gonna do what must be done and throw LA my precious monies when they re-release, I've waited this long, I can wait a couple months...

Chiming in to say that I'm a hopeless plebe that wasn't even aware PC gaming existed for much of my young life (all my friends were too busy arguing about consoles) which resulted in me never having played any Monkey Island games. It's hard to admit but totally true and I feel as though I am on my way to redemption as a trip to the flea market yesterday yielded the Curse of Monkey Island, in box, with instruction booklet and everything for $5CDN. I want to play the first two before I play the third, what would my fellow thumbs recommend as the best venue for obtaining them these days?
