  1. Warren Spector's Disney project concept art

Those character designs are straight up silly. I honestly laughed when I saw them for the first time. The environments look incredible though, here's hoping they come up with some interesting characters to populate those areas. I'd hate to see them ruin some genuinely interesting concepts with a population of bland and unispired npcs.

  3. Point-and-Click Adventure Games, Today.

Oh hey LucasArts, what's up? Has anyone else heard about this?
  4. Brütal Legend overload...!

I guess I may have overlooked this, but did we know that Brutal Legend has multiplayer? Sounds like we might have another venue for Pikmin/Overlord style battles with four v. four (!) skirmishes...
  5. The sad sad tale of Tim Langdell

Haha awesome Mirror's Spore: Edgy Soulspore on the Edge of Twilight 2" PREPARE TO BE AMAZED...

Just yankin' your chain ol' bean. I'm personally slowly working my way into the realm of pc gaming, it's a rocky road...
  7. Point-and-Click Adventure Games, Today.

All I know is that iMuse is listed in the credits at the beginning of FT and I've noticed it on several occasions while playing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IMUSE
  8. Point-and-Click Adventure Games, Today.

Just want to chime in on this topic since it's pretty damn timely in my case, I've never really played adventure games but last night I spent about two hours playing what I have to guess is a fantastic introduction to the genre - MOTHERFUCKIN' FULL THROTTLE Of note: - Holy shit the music is incredible. Having just learned aboit iMuse through reading about MI I was pretty excited and not at all disappointed when I would, say, pick up a picture and have a nice little piano tune seamlessly overlap the main piece of music as Maureen talks about her childhood. Simple, yet effective. - Mark Hammil is great, as Ripburger and Todd in the first half hour of the game, I was nerding out like crazy. - Seriously, the voice acting is top-notch. Hearing Maurice LaMarche (the BRAIN!) pipe up from the front seat in the opening scene actually made me giggle like a little girl. - The gameplay is straightforward and easy to pick up. As someone who has simply no experience with the genre I can say that within thirty seconds or so I had come to terms with the basics, no problem. No tutorial necessary. I love the "click & hold" method of selecting objects, it's the earliest example of a sort of radial wheel menu that I can think of. - Complaints of repetition and trial & error are non-existant at this point. I know it's still quite early in the game, but I've already gotten stuck a few times and I have absolutely no problem due to the atmosphere and characters. I don't mind running back and forth from the water tower/Todd's trailer/Todd's junkyard/Maureen's house trying different things because the music and the art create such a cohesive and engrossing atmosphere that I don't notice when Ben repeats himself for the tenth time. Bear in mind this is coming from someone who can and will get easily frustrated with a game and look at a guide for it. I don't think I could bring myself to do that with FT, there's a certain satisfaction I get from completing a puzzle that I don't remember feeling in many other games. (recent examples might be Braid and unsurprisingly, Sam & Max on the 360) I could seriously go on and on (and I probably will as I get farther into the game) but I will stop myself here. TL;DR - Someone who has never played adventure games plays Full Throttle, is blown away ign.com and raves about it, contributing very little to the conversation.
  9. Indeed, no man can resist the siren song of a soft, supple, inviting cloth map...
  10. Point-and-Click Adventure Games, Today.

Just out of curiosity, what turned you off about them? Was it the controls, or the graphics or the rudimentary gameplay? Which games did you demo?
  11. Halo 3 Co-op

    Jaaaaaaammes!

WoW is for losers come play the M$ EXBawks with the rest of us XBros.
  13. Ugh. These special/prestige/limited editions are getting out of hand. Look at Dragon Age, you've got your tin case, dvd, random other junk AND they're packing an exclusive in game item for MASS EFFECT 2, it's all over the place! Of course it also has a cloth map...
  14. Life

Any tips for someone new to the game? So far I've got: - Watch out for rain - and poop
  15. You jolt out of a deep sleep, awoken by some unseen force, a sound unlike anything you've heard before resonates in your mind but you can't tell if it was real or imaginary. You sit, frozen in your bed, waiting for a sign. You can feel someone, something, watching you. Staring. Thoughts of Big Bird's bones and Pyramid Head racing through your brain... ...you turn around.
  16. I never played much perfect dark but in Goldeneye it wasn't even a cheat, just a weapons setting called "Slappers Only" that you could set before the match. The sound of a karate chop and the ensuing *GASP* that the character would emit is still fresh in my mind... edit: wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the dlc thread <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7aTlrDYkso&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7aTlrDYkso&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> doubleedit: I like where this is headed...
  17. Brütal Legend overload...!

    Meh indeed...
  18. Life

Thanks Wrestle, funny you should say that, it's actually a 1980 Honda CB650C. Less of a crotch rocket and more just old school class. I love the look of hondas from the 70's/80's. What happened to yours?
  19. Scribblenauts

Scibblenauts is currently scheduled for release on September 15th. If you want to try and win a copy, check out Edge Online's contest which consists of solving one of the game's later challenges (you are suspended from the ceiling [via top hat & rope] over a pool of lava next to a cage which contains your goal, a starite) using five words. Any ideas?
  20. Life

This is going to be the best week ever, I'm going to buy a severely underpriced motorcycle (my first one!) after work today, and then taking my training course through Friday/Saturday/Sunday with a break from classes on Saturday night to go see KISS. And Monkey Island is finally hitting Xbox Live, allowing me to start my Lucasarts adventure game summer with a bang! In closing:
  21. Burnout Paradise online.

I was driving my car and I accidentally the whole thing...
  22. Little Big Planet

Unfortunately the Toblix Promise has been rendered null & void due to frequent complaints on the subject of video games post promise-to-not-criticize-games. Was there ever any mention of releasing levels in the form of dlc? It seems unlikely given that everyone and their mom can get practically limitless levels for free. That being said, (if I owned a PS3 and LBP) I would buy the hell out of a "MM Dev-Levels Pack" just to see how the people behind the game would approach creating content now that LBP has been out for a while.
  23. Little Big Planet

Next-gen procedurally generated user-based wig development will blow you away.
  24. Mass Effect 2

Anyways...how 'bout that there Mass Effect 2? GT just put up a dev interview and holy shit, spoilers be damned (we're talking end-game possibilities here, wow) it looks really good. It also has bonus rockin' dev-'stache action! Looks like the dialogue "interrupt" system is juiced up, as in, "I don't like what you're sayin', hows about I kick you out this window". Mako exploration looks improved as well, you can scan planets for interesting or mineral rich environments before descending to explore them (looks like they addressed complaints in regards to boring random height-map planets, what is shown in the video looks quite interesting and scenic). Feel free to return to Mass Effect 1 arguing mode if this doesn't interest you.

Oh shiiiit Power Grid is the business. Considering starting a board game thread now... I've only been here a few months, but welcome!
