  1. That's probably what it will mean in most cases, since the pirated copies will most likely include a crack to circumvent this.
  2. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

I have to admit that the addition of trading cards to a bunch of games that I already have is tempting me to play them just to grind for cards. I don't really like what that says about me, but it's true.
  3. Steam Trading Card

I think the thing that doesn't work for me about this system is the emphasis on crafting badges. For some reason, I would much rather have a full set of trading cards than a badge (even though they're both pretty silly). I guess my brain is going "why would I trade 8 meaningless JPEGs for 1 equally meaningless JPEG?" and I'd just rather have a nice little art gallery than an icon on my profile. So I've just been hoarding my cards for every game and I'll probably never get any more unless I get some more of those random "booster packs."
  4. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Way to build your house in the most inconvenient spot in the town, Rod! I can't wait to run into it and have to walk around every time I'm walking along the edge of the lake or coming back from the beach, and also to not be able to fish in a large portion of the lake. You haven't even moved in yet and I already hate you.
  5. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I sold mine yesterday for like 182 and a coworker today has 310. I hate the stalk market.
  6. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I'm usually around somewhere between 7 and 11 PM Pacific time on weekdays, and basically random times on weekends. I usually don't open my gate unless it's something that was arranged beforehand on the forums or something (just because I feel like I don't really know how to entertain guests, and I'm usually in the middle of harvesting fruit or decorating my house or going back and forth from the island or something), but I do occasionally check for available towns if I get bored. But yeah, if we do visit each other I'll be happy to add you as a BFF and then you can just message me if you want me to open the gate. Life would be a lot easier if you could just message anybody who's on your friends list. Just getting to that point is already way more complicated than it needs to be. Oh, Nintendo.
  7. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I haven't seen a scorpion either... and I've only seen two tarantulas. I caught one, and the other one ran behind my house and vanished somehow. (By the way, sorry for bailing on the island, Cubby -- my wife needed me to go pick something up from the grocery store.) This is pretty much the opposite of how I feel. To me, part of the appeal is coming back to it every day to discover what's new in the shops and in my town, and to slowly make progress on collecting things and decorating my house. I feel that to blow through all that stuff by time traveling is to cheat yourself out of a lot of what makes the game interesting. But that's just me.
  8. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Nintendo of America posted the code for their official Dream Suite town: 5700 – 2038 – 6151. Things to note: There are famous mushrooms all over the place. Whenever I get these in my town, I sell them because they're worth a lot, but since you can't take them out of the Dream Suite anyway, I recommend eating them. You can get a bunch of designs from Wendell, including Reggie's face, in case you want to recreate his bed.
  9. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Sorry, I must have been on the island or in Cubby's town.
  10. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I actually got a styraco tail today, but you can just have the mask. I have some pears you can have also if you want. If you can give me anything from the astro or sleek sets in return, that would be great, but if not, don't worry about it. My gate is open now.
  11. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I have an extra. What's your friend code? Mine is 0387-8790-2867. Sure. I can just give it to you. But I don't think I have your friend code either. Yeah, what I really want is a list that has all that information, and I can log into it and check off the things I've got in my catalog, and then I can link other people to that list and also look at their lists, do searches to see what items they have that I don't, etc. It would be a pretty big deal to set up, which I guess is why nobody's done it.
  12. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I was envisioning something much more elaborate and impractical to make, but a Google document would be cool. I've found a few sites that have the information I'm looking for (item name, cost/not for sale status, sell price, series/set, feng shui colors, customizability), but it's all scattered in different places and not easily combined into a single checklist. It's probably not actually worth the effort to put it all together, but if someone else did it, I'd be happy to use it! Yup, it's in the second post in this thread. In other news, my Doug cosplay is almost complete. I just need some better shorts. If anybody has some basic brown/khaki/cargo pants-like shorts, hit me up. Oh yeah: there are apparently two completely different pieces of furniture called "washbasin." Weird. I got the first one from a villager and the second one by ordering it from Reggie's house after being confused when the item called "washbasin" wasn't what I thought it was.
  13. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

    I made a Doug shirt:
  14. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

What I really want is a website where you can keep a checklist of all the items that you have in your catalog, and you can cross-reference that with other people's lists to arrange trades and stuff. I'm kind of surprised that doesn't already exist. I don't have any extra fossils on hand right now, but I'll keep an eye out. NEED: ammonite ankylo torso apato skull dimetrodon torso diplo neck ichthyo skull iguanodon tail megacero tail pachy skull parasaur skull Peking man plesio neck ptera left wing spino torso styraco tail tricera torso trilobite
  15. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Sure. It's a rococo bed, but I had Cyrus customize it to "gothic black," I believe.
  16. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

    I renovated my basement.
  17. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I only just realized that the fruit trees, even when there are no fruits on them, are actually visually distinguishable from the bee/money/furniture trees. (Fruit trees have slightly darker leaves.) This changes everything.
  18. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I got yet another Fire Flower, and also Midna's Mask and a hero's cap if anyone wants them. It's really weird that you can't sell the duplicate Nintendo items. I guess that's to encourage trading with other people? I'm also flush with silver slingshots. I finally filled up all of the slots in my storage locker and now I'm not sure what to do about it. I guess it's time to just start selling anything that I don't want to put in my house and can re-order from the catalog... kind of a bummer. I've considered starting an additional character to get another house, but that seems like a dangerous road to go down with the amount of time I'm already wasting playing this game.
  19. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

I can't wait to collect some sweet foil trading cards (of ghosts).
  20. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Oh man, that bed is sweet (if probably a bit uncomfortable). Is that one of the things Cyrus will make if you give him three gold nuggets? I've still only got one, and I've been trying to decide whether to hold onto it until I get two more, or just use it to make a gold toilet right now.
  21. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Cool. Of the two, I think I'd rather have the Pikmin. My gate's open now if you want to stop by.
  22. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I have some duplicates of some of the Nintendo crap that I need to get rid of, if anyone wants to trade. I'm offering: Fire Flower Peach's parasol Wii Balance Board Yoshi's egg Fi mask I'm looking for any of: coin goal pole Bill blaster Pikmin S.S. Dolphin Super Mushroom Virtual Boy
  23. The Swapper

Ever wish you could rewind time?
  24. I can imagine a realistically rendered Ballmer.
  25. I guess so. I would consider text adventures a subset of IF. I personally don't think "interactive fiction" is a very useful term because it's so broad. That description applies to almost any video game (and many non-video games). In common practice they're used fairly interchangeably except that IF includes stuff with different interfaces, as well as text adventures whose authors think it makes them sound more respectable (like calling comics graphic novels).
