  1. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Does anybody have access to a green emblem blazer? I have the beige one and it's pretty snazzy, but I really want green.
  2. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

I got: GTA IV Complete Bundle Dear Esther FTL Soundtrack Toki Tori 2+ Farming Simulator 2013 RPG Maker VX Ace System Shock 2 Castle Crashers Prison Architect Worms Armageddon SimCity 4 Deluxe The question is how many of them will I actually play.
  3. Yes, really. I didn't pick guide, I just started a new game. Then I died without finding the area you're talking about. And the title (to the extent that I thought about it at all, which wasn't much) I just figured was probably some sort of ironic joke (I'm guessing there is no Ultra Business Tycoon I or II). Maybe I didn't give the game a fair shake, but I played it for longer than it engaged me and it didn't give me any reason to want to come back. I was thinking about this when I played Kentucky Route Zero. I mostly enjoyed that game, but it's basically just a text adventure with a really nice presentation layer on top of it, and the whole time I kept thinking that if it were just the text, I'd probably like it a lot less and maybe find it kind of insufferable, because I was pretty sure the surreal stuff, while sometimes amusing in itself, wasn't going to end up meaning anything. The few minutes of this game that I played felt like what I'd imagined that would be like: just aimlessly interacting with objects and getting responses that don't make much sense. (That said, I found the writing in Kentucky Route Zero much more readable and interesting than this.) People are talking about how effective the end of this game is, so I guess in this case it does end up amounting to something, but the part I played was so off-putting that I can't see myself ever having the patience to get that far.
  4. Nintendo 3DS

In case you didn't already know, you can fast-forward the animations of a lot of stuff throughout all of Streetpass Mii Plaza by holding the R button. Speaking of animations, the animations for the Miis in the garden game kind of creep me out for some reason. They have this weird stretchy, rubbery quality that they don't have anywhere else. I know the games are made by several different developers, but that's the only one that really stands out as not being made by Nintendo to me because the animation and UI stuff is so different.
  5. The idea of getting to end of the game is baffling to me because I have no idea what the goal even is. When I played it I just wandered around a bit and clicked through a lot of overwrought, pretentious nonsense until I was insta-killed for desecrating something, and I welcomed the opportunity to stop playing. It made me feel old and confused and grumpy.
  6. I can't think of a way to ask this that doesn't sound super-snarky, but I genuinely want to know: what about this is amazing?
  7. Idle Thumbs 115: Robot News

Yeah, I never would have thought I could be as completely disinterested in a video game -- any video game -- as I am in sports, but then DOTA came along. I did enjoy watching the tail end of the Smash Bros. EVO stuff, though. Is it mandated that competitive Smash Bros. be played only on the most boring stages, or is that just the players' personal preferences? If it's the latter, is there like, one guy who always chooses Poké Floats or something just to throw off his opponents? I would enjoy that.
  8. Nintendo 3DS

The new Streetpass games are great, except now it takes like half an hour just to clear out my streetpasses every day. The haunted house game in particular is a killer. I don't have time for that! I have animals to cross!
  9. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Mine is fine. Gate's open (town name is Formica).
  10. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Sure. I can do it now actually.
  11. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Standing in front of the sign and pressing A should be all you have to do. For me, it shows the "no name display" thing and then asks me if I want to change it. It might be one of those things where you can't do it if you have your gate open or something like that.
  12. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Twig, I got an extra styraco tail today. I'll hang onto it if you want to trade for your Peking man or plesio neck. (I think tegan wanted a Peking man too, so maybe I should take the plesio neck.)
  13. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Twiglet, I think I can get you a rococo bed and sofa, at least, and a modern wood sofa. I'll have to order the rococo stuff but I think it should arrive around 5PM my time? Not sure about that. Also: Rod keeps calling me Foxy. Is this your doing, Cubby? It's a little disconcerting, heh.
  14. Steam Trading Card

It got me to play some FTL and some Surgeon Simulator 2013. I have so far avoided running games just to idle for card drops because I feel weird about it for some reason.
  15. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

You can't order mannequins. You can only get them from the Able Sisters (plus Gracie), one each, ever, and you can't trade them with anybody else. The only way to get more is to start another character, as far as I know.
  16. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

Cool! I still need to give you that kettle. Is there anything else you're looking for? I'm probably going to be busy most of this afternoon, but maybe tonight or tomorrow we could do some trading. Oh yeah, also, I have persimmons now. I only have three trees right now, so I can't give away too many, but if anybody wants one or two to plant, let me know.
  17. Games giveaway

I have a coupon for 10% off Toki Tori 2+ if anyone wants it. (And I'm still offering Portal 1 and Cogs.)
  18. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

I don't understand the economics of why the backgrounds and emoticons are worth so much less than the cards themselves. If that stuff only drops by crafting, which uses up multiple cards, shouldn't it be more rare and thus more valuable?
  19. Steam Trading Card

OK, I sold my Half-Life 2 cards, used the funds to buy the Don't Starve cards I was missing and craft a badge, and had enough left over to buy a Doug emoticon and get $0.24 off the FTL soundtrack. I guess I can grudgingly see how this could be sort of fun even if you don't put any money into it.
  20. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

It's weird how the summer sale card set includes cards for games that don't have trading card support themselves. I wonder if that means trading cards will be rolled out for those games over the course of the rest of the sale.
  21. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

My island is selling the tropical vista today, if anybody wants one and has 100 medals to spare.
  22. Nintendo 3DS

To pay the people who developed them?
  23. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

But if you have a cushion, you can always do this: Tegan, I can give you a kart and a Blue Falcon. Trade you for your ankylo torso? Also, I think some of my StreetPass houses might have some rococo furniture I could order for you. Which ones do you already have? STUFF I WANT: astro bed, cd player, closet sleek bed, dresser, sideboard, stereo, wall modern desk, end table, lamp, wall sloppy stuff (any of it) cushion any DLC items from regions other than North America (even if only to catalog) NINTENDO JUNK I NEED: Dolphin Goal Pole Red Pikmin hat Varia Suit Hero's Boots NINTENDO JUNK I HAVE SPARES OF: 1-Up Mushroom Bill Blaster Blue Falcon Fi mask Fire Flower (x2) hero's pants kart Master Sword Peach's parasol Pikmin Pipe Toad hat Triforce Wii Balance Board Yoshi's Egg Triple Red Shells (x2) FOSSILS I NEED: ankylo torso apato skull dimetrodon torso iguanodon tail pachy skull parasaur skull Peking man plesio neck ptera left wing spino torso tricera torso I don't have any fossils on hand to trade; I usually just check this thread to see if I dug up anything someone wants, then sell them if not.
  24. Steam Trading Card

Oh, really? That changes everything! I thought that since you had to collect the cards again if you wanted to level up the badge, it would mean you no longer had access to the cards you used to craft it.
  25. Steam Summer Getaway Sale

Well, it hasn't tempted me enough to actually do it yet, so I guess there's still hope.
