You only really have to water the ones that are wilted. You can water the other ones and it will keep them from wilting the next day, but if you have a lot of flowers, that tends to be more trouble than it's worth. But yeah, I think the keep the town beautiful ordinance means that they just won't wilt, although I've never used it so I can't say for sure. My town is definitely getting overrun with flowers. I want purple, black, or blue ones, but I also am tempted to destroy all the other ones.

My dear boy, do you ask a fish why it swims? Or a bird why it flies? No sirree you don't! They do it because they were born to do it!

When I moved from Florida to California last year, I brought what I could fit into my car and that was it. I got a one-bedroom apartment, but I just put all my stuff in the bedroom, and the living room was completely empty. I didn't have any furniture except a cheap desk and chair that I bought when I got here and an air mattress (which quickly deflated and I replaced with an Ikea floor mattress, until subbes came to visit and couldn't stand sleeping on it and made me buy an actual bed). I lived like that for about six months until subbes found a job here and moved out here with me, at which point we hired movers to bring all the rest of the stuff from our old apartment. When that stuff arrived, that was expensive and shocking. I immediately started feeling sort of claustrophobic and burdened by the amount of stuff we had, after realizing I'd been getting along just fine without (most of) it. That was the closest I ever came to understanding the "your possessions end up owning you, maaan" hippie mindset which I'd always found irritating.

You can avoid this problem by not having any friends in the first place.

Is there a limit to the number of flowers you can have in your town at once or something? I water mine every day, but some of them seem to be disappearing even though I don't think they were even wilted the previous day.

I subscribed to Nintendo Power before I even had any Nintendo systems. I just liked reading about games even if I couldn't actually play them.

I had a dream that I got paint on my jacket. That's all I can remember about it.

I finally got the golden axe! I think this game is starting to lose its luster for me, though. I'm at that irritating stage where I'm only missing one or two fossils and I have a lot of furniture sets that are almost but not quite complete, so I feel like I have to check every day in case one of the things I need shows up, but it's starting to feel more and more like a chore. This makes me really sad. But if I didn't play for a while and then came back and the animals were all "where have you been?" I think I would feel even worse.

I've never understood the affection certain people have for Shantae. I played the DSi one and "thoroughly unremarkable" was a pretty apt description. It wasn't unpleasant, but wasn't memorable in any way.

I don't know if this is the case on the other platforms, but on the Gamecube version, the jump and shoot controls are backwards and can't be customized. That made it pretty much unplayable for me.

I'm sorely disappointed that this wasn't the announcement of the official Idle Thumbs IRC server.

I've been pretty depressed lately, but in a different way than usual. I basically feel fine as long as I'm doing something that is holding my attention, but then as soon as I run out of things to do and start to get bored, my mood immediately plummets and I become mopey and grumpy and miserable. Once that happens it's hard to recover from it because none of the possible options for things to do seem appealing to me, but if I do manage to find something to occupy myself with, I get back to feeling OK pretty quickly. It's weird because I'm not used to my mood varying so much; normally once I get into a funk, I don't come out of it for weeks at a time. So I guess this is an improvement? It doesn't really feel that way, though.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I kind of want to quit Pikmin 3. I'm at the last boss and I'm not having fun. So maybe I'll just ignore that level and go back and find more fruit and stuff, or maybe I'm just done. -
There's also an "outtake" version of "Behind Blue Eyes" included as a bonus track on some of the reissues of Who's Next.

You wouldn't happen to have any extra Ultra Hands, would you? I never managed to get one of those, and I have too many of pretty much everything else.

I thought it was weird that Red Dwarf aired on the same channel as, like, Diagnosis Murder or something. Maybe it was different in other parts of the country, but I've only ever seen Red Dwarf on PBS, never a network affiliate.

This haunted house StreetPass game is killing me. It takes so long to clear out! I find myself intentionally avoiding creating rectangles because then I have to spend extra getting an item and send it to my dimensional box and maybe having to solve a puzzle. I get so many more items than I'll ever use; I've stuck with the same gun since floor 2 and just kept upgrading it, never having any reason to use anything else. I'm on something like floor 11, but at this point I'm not enjoying myself at all. I think I'm just going to skip that game from now on when I check my StreetPasses, unless anybody has any tips on how to make it fun.

Peaches (the villager, not the fruit) moved out of my town over a month ago, but earlier this week, she showed up on Main Street, wandering around and talking as though she still lived here. She's still there. It's kind of creeping me out.

I leave 3D on pretty much all the time unless I'm in bright lighting or sitting at a weird angle or something. Going back to playing games in 2D after using the 3DS for a while actually feels kind of frustrating to me.

If you hold the left-trigger you can lock onto something, then press B to make all your Pikmin charge at it at once. It's much less useful than the C-stick swarm, but it's slightly better than throwing them all individually.

I have recurring dreams in which I still have braces on my teeth and parts of them are coming off -- either I'm pulling out bits of wire or the bits glued to my teeth are coming unglued. Much like the dream of being signed up for a class and not going to it, this is a dream that doesn't feel clearly delineated from reality, so sometimes I have to remind myself that I haven't been in college or had braces for years and none of that happened even when I was.

I'm playing it, but I can't play very much at a time because I find it stresses me out. Even though I have like 10 jars of juice stockpiled, I'm constantly worried that I'm not being efficient enough with my days and I'll end up falling behind. This is the same problem I had with Pikmin 1 and why I never finished it.

My involvement is actually pretty minimal; I was only on it for a couple of weeks between finishing up 400 Days and moving on to start setting up other projects. But I've played it and it's cool!
