  1. Another backlog thread

I've been mowing through my backlog, but still have a few key unfinished titles on my shelf, namely: Killzone 2 Sacred 2 Castle Crashers Rez HD Splosion Man A short list, but full of shame. I'll get to KZ2 eventually, but the others may slip til next year.
  2. The Myth of Sisyphus (Trials HD)

Count me as another disciple. Whenever I heard someone describe this series it didn't seem very interesting, but once I tried the Trials HD...trial...I was hooked. Don't think I'll ever get through the Extreme levels though. Inferno II makes me its bitch every time I play it.
  3. Recently completed video games

Looking over my list I'm amazed how few new games I've played this year (so far). I was able to clear out almost all of my backlog though. In chronological order: Bioshock RE5 Snatcher Flower Tales of Vesperia Condemned 1 Gears of War 1 Gears of War 2 Gun Crackdown Too Human Assassin's Creed Sam & Max Season 1 Prince of Persia Secret of Monkey Island Oblivion Shadow Complex Batman: Arkham Asylum
  4. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

What difficulty were you playing on? I had a bitch of a time with the Bane fight on hard, but it's my first time through..maybe I should have started on normal... Also I chose the worst upgrades up to that point (stupid!) so I was stuck on the Bane fight from about 3am to 4am. It was that horrible time of night when I just get the logic and mechanics down and then keep completely forgetting both. Needless to say I felt like a champ once I finally beat him, but I'm kinda worried about the rest. I wanted to play more yesterday, but got sidetracked by Trials HD.
  5. Wizaaaaaards!!

    Yup, more wizards.
  6. Jesus, you don't have to be so angry about it. Actually I wanted to say I bought the massive compilation of The Complete Sherlock Holmes a while back and read through the whole thing in a few weekends. Some of the stories were so-so, but most were really great. I especially appreciated the complexity of Holmes himself, such as his cocaine addiction and feelings of boredom with life in general. The only thing I didn't like was when Arthur Conan Doyle (he's no Sir to me!) killed Sherlock and walked away for a few years, wrote Baskervilles (as a prequel), then needed cash and retconned his death. (Spoilers!) Not only was the explanation lame, but so were the subsequent stories. I can imagine my great grandfather being all pissed off the same way we are about Lucas.
  7. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

I'm planning on getting this only because I was such a fan of the animated series and Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy represent the definitive B-Man & Joker™ to me. Not a resounding endorsement, I know, but I'm still skeptical to see if all the elements we saw in the demo can be stretched out for a full length game. Also it seems to have a ridiculous amount of hype at the moment, how did it do that? Great IP, solid game, good release window? Is the formula that simple?
  8. Life

I'm also at the relationship crossroads. I could leave if I want, things are so rocky, or I could suck it up, stay, and start the long process of rebuilding. Do I really want the freedom I so often daydreamed of, or was that an illusion? Le sigh. Better to not think about it and go take out my frustrations by being an asshole on GAF.
  9. Shadow Complex

The only negative comment I've seen from anyone is Jeremy Parish, who said it's too much like super metroid. hah! That could never be a negative. I'm pretty excited.
  10. Battlefield 1943

Yeah, that's pretty accurate. Still had a good time though. In a strange way all that chaos adds to the charm for me.
  11. Boycott Left 4 Dead 2!

Ok, I'm not seriously advocating the boycott of this just announced game. I just think it's funny...make that hilarious that gamers have already started a boycott group on the steam community that has almost 4,000 people right now. http://steamcommunity.com/groups/L4D2boycott Or do they have a point? Significant content for L4D1 was promised, and never delivered Valve put little faith in L4D1 since they almost certainly started working on L4D2 right after release The fact that L4D2 is nearly identical to L4D1 will decimate the community for both games The announced date is not nearly enough time to polish content or make significant gameplay changes The new character designs seem bland and unappealing so far L4D2 is too bright to fit in with L4D1's visual aesthetic The fiddle-based horde music is extremely disliked, though the differently orchestrated music is otherwise welcome L4D2's release will result in a drop in quality and frequency for L4D1 content, even compared to before The community has lost faith in Valve's former reputation for commitment to their games post-release There are a few reasonable gripes in there, but personally I think this is a direct result of Valve spoiling their customers for years and then, for once, acting like a normal publisher and choosing to iterate on their content in a normal way rather than give everyone everything they want for free. Still funny though.
  12. Battlefield 1943

This may sound stupid (especially to a Battlefield vet) but I love the simplicity of the whole thing. There is no choice between public or private games, there aren't multiple modes like deathmatch or whatever, there is one game type, one mode. This way everyone who is playing Battlefield is just playing Battlefield without splitting the user base across whatever. Until the DLC anyway.
  13. Battlefield 1943

Yeah I'm pretty excited to get into this, but the servers are crumbling under the onslaught of gamers. How was EA not prepared for this? I just keep running through the training mission. By the time they get it sorted out I should be much better flying planes at least.
  14. July 5th

It's Monday here. Why don't you show some fucking respect. Southeast Asia represent represent.
  15. They're called *Video Games*

Whatever man. I say video games, email, and alot. Common terms should just be one word. Fuck the AP stylebook.
  16. Life

Steve McNair had an affair And it seems to have cost him his life. The details are hazy, But his girlfriend was crazy And he should have just fucked his wife! I made up that limerick in a marketing meeting today. Sorry Steve, but your name had a simple alliteration that inspired me. Also, limericks are cool. Also, yes that was very 4chan immature of me.
  17. Fallout 3

Wow, I think Point Lookout is my favorite of the DLC so far. It's expansive and spooky, with lots of little things to find and a good variety of optional side missions. Plus, Desmond is one cool ass motherf'ing ghoul.
  18. Life

Not that it's too soon, just very 4chan immature of you. Besides, he doesn't even need the joker paint to look creepy. I always watch those early Jackson 5 videos and think of the child prodigy and what could have been, but then I think that's not fair, and maybe he was happy wrapped inside his own insanity. But now is not the time for that either, today we should just appreciate the legacy.
  19. Fallout 3

Yeah, I'm pretty excited myself. I've had a great time with all the DLC so far, this should be no exception.
  20. Life

I just wanted to save my gamerscore today for posterity, because it will never be this awesomely emo again. Also, I'm going to be the lead doctor in our company's training video, which will be unintentionally hilarious, and I'm expecting a big bag of weed today. So life is good!
  21. Boycott Left 4 Dead 2!

Holy shit the group has over 23,000 whiners members atm!
  22. Yes this is David Simon... yes, that's me right next to him!

1 week ago that was just some old bald dude to me. After buying the boxed set of The Wire and going through Seasons 1 & 2 already...that guy in the picture is a god among men. I don't know what I'm going to do when I finish the series, it puts every other show to shame.
  23. [PROTOTYPE] In Stores Today!

My personal boycott of Activision only extends to games I'm not interested in anyway. It's a very convenient boycott. I know the comparison is kind of lame, but I just finished Infamous. Is this really different enough to warrant my attention? Even if so, is it any good?
  24. Tomonobu Itagaki is a fucking Douchebag

Some days I think he's a tool and represents everything wrong with 'star developers' and some days I think he's exactly the kind of tool the industry needs. Either way I agree, he's an arrogant tool. Let's see what he does next first though, which will be very interesting to see.
