  1. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

I prefer Thumb as well and was originally designated as such. But after finding out that I am in the minority, I switched over to Thumbs. Also I ended up creating a "dummy" skype account just for this. My tag is skratches. The game so far has been much too chaotic for me. I am still in the process of getting a hang of it. That doesn't mean it wasn't fun to run around in an idiotic manner for the first few games.
  2. New people: Read this, say hi.

Oh hey Jamsl. Now you can officially be called a Thumb.
  3. Steam maintenance?

Blaming aside, there is thread in the official steam forums that a moderator usually updates with dates and times for scheduled server maintenance.
  4. Left 4 Thumbs 2

Watching that clip brings back bad memories. The part where we "appeared" to be running around in circles wasn't meant to throw you off or anything. We never made a choice on where to head first. Instead I think we unconsciously decided to "Rambo" it.
  5. Dawn of War 2

Count me in as a noob as well. I haven't played the game since I finished my first playthrough.
  6. Other injokes like: Wizard, Horsebag, FarCry 2, Hot Scoops, Boost, Strategy chocolate and more...
  7. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

Yeah well, your UK release date is on the 4th. It's already out over in North America.
  8. Portal ARG?

This truly awesome and weird at the same time.
  9. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

No preload? I'm only asking because I'm still on a very shite connection and download speeds are really bad. Downloading when it officially unlocks with all the server overload business does not seem very ideal.
  10. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

It seems we all have our own preferred days and times with very little overlap. I think it's best if we just do alternate Sundays. Then those who would rather play L4D2 can do so as well. Besides, the whole point of having another game was to avoid the return to lobby shenanigans of L4D2. So playing on alternate Sundays or when L4D2 gets too much, seems like the best solution.
  11. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

That might be convenient for us Canadians and Americans, but I am sure it gets too early for our European comrades.
  12. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

Oh yes, we do it at 8pm now. So what I meant was 9pm GMT. I am also up for alternate weekends, though I think that would make things a bit harder to keep track of. That would put two "thumbs" in the title, which ruins the naming convention we have going so far for other events.
  13. Battlethumbs: Idle Company

I can do Fridays or Saturdays. But not at our usual time. If I am not mistaken we do L4D2 at 9pm BST (3pm EST). It would have to be an hour later, if we decide on Friday.
  14. No steam integration whatsoever. This thread would've to be the source to share your names. To make things easier though, folks should stick to their steam usernames.
  15. THIS. I still haven't preordered. I don't know if I will. But I might buy it later when it comes out. As for clan tags, I thought we settled on "IT" for Idle Thumbs.
  16. Left 4 Thumbs 2

Mostly it's because of complex third party server settings that conflict with the original Valve approved settings. A simple example is an all talk server. Valve does not support such a server first hand and people who want to set it up have to modify the server files. As you might know, modifying original files comes with it's risks. Mucking about in the config file can give you a lot of different variations to the game but in most cases it'll also have a unknown side-effect. Which is why, I fearfully tend to keep my server as vanilla as possible. From my experience, servers that are "pure" tend to run much better or rather run as they were supposed to in the first place.

Were you still drunk when you made that post? The post game lobby hilarity was way more awesome than the game itself.
  18. I played a bit of the beta this morning. Needless to say it was an overwhelming experience. I haven't played a battlefield game in ages. I had no idea what I was doing with all the chaos, except getting killed a dozen times. I would very much like to experience the beta from thumbs perspective, before I go ahead buy the game. I am hoping that we can get together and get a game going soon.
  19. At this point I can only do weekends and since Sunday is already taken up by L4D2, I propose Saturday. I would prefer it to be around the same time as L4D2 i.e. 9 or 10 pm BST, but I am open to other suggestions. Note that this not a commitment to play the actual game but just try out the beta for a few weeks first.
  20. Last I checked they still had some keys over at fileplay.com. You just need to signup for an account first. Even if it says no keys left, check back later they keep adding more from time to time. BTW, I am Skratche in game. I have friended everyone I could think of, but I might have missed someone.
  21. Bioshock 4 Pack

If any of you had not been so last minute about it, I would have joined in as well. I just preorderd the limited edition through a retail store last week.
  22. Hmm, didn't think of that. I have no idea how that will work out. On a side note, I have managed to grab a beta key for BFBC2 without having to pre-order it first. I might end up buying it if things go better than the AvP demo.
  23. Left 4 Thumbs 2

'twas fun from our side. But of course, winning is always fun. Hope to see you next time around.
