The Arma 2 + Operation AH thread of 'let's try this again'
Scratch replied to Lu 's topic in Multiplayer Networking
I found two that are not on your list: Hunt Waldo (14 players) Beachhead (10 players) There are several other maps on that site that I haven't looked into. -

We're on at 3pm EST. So whatever that works out to be in your time zone. -

It's likely most things that went wrong yesterday were my fault. I was figuring out how to play the game and just going along with what others were doing. Not to mention my mic decided to bug out yesterday and having no communication made things worse. I couldn't figure out how to get the in-game text chat working either. Hopefully I'll have the mic setup right next week. Still had a whole lot of fun playing though. -

I got the 1.11 patch from their website. I didn't see a link for any other patch higher than that one. So I'm assuming that's the only one. Will try to get online later and see if it works. -

I'm downloading the free portion of the game as I post this. I might be late to the party, but I would like to join in on the fun next time around as well (if you'll have me). I haven't played ARMA before, so you guys will have to bear with my lack of skills/understanding. And I do have prior engagements this Sunday so, my presence for the next round of fun is not entirely set in stone. -
Done and Done. Let's get this going!

Oh shit. It's coming back.

I'll yes for now. But depending on how things turn out tomorrow, I might not show. -
I just bought Burnout Paradise for the PC on a whim. I haven't played a single racing game on the PC since NFS Most Wanted and after the really bad sequels (Carbon, ProStreet and Undercover), I needed something to get my racing fix on the PC. Never played a burnout game before, since this is the first time it has been on the PC. Lets just say, burnout is very different from the occasional NFS titles I was used to playing. I love every moment I spend in Paradise City. Well, except for the times when the lousy DJ comes on. Oh and the game is obviously a port of the console version, but it is decent and plays really smoothly. The cluttered menu navigation is the only thing that makes it 'console-like'. I wish the game had been released through Steam though, that way your friend's list could have been better manageable. As of right now, doing Freeburn Challenges online is hard, since most players don't cooperate and just repeatedly crash into you. Not to mention Steam is just awesome.

So the game comes out next week. I think it's time we settle on a day and time that is reasonable for everyone interested. Once that is set in stone one of the admins of our steam group can put it up on the calendar as a regularly scheduled event. EDIT: We now play on alternate Sundays at 3pm EST (work that out for whatever timezone you are in). Also, if you want to be recruited into battlethumbs make sure you post your game/steam ID. We use skype as a way of communication so post your skype thing as well. We use "Thumbs" as a clan tag, so we can freak people out by mass invading some random server. I'm open to either L4D1 or L4D2. I've both installed, so I'll go with the crowd. As for time, Sunday usual time sounds good.

Left 4 Thumbs reunion when dlc comes out? Preferably on the weekend of the week it comes out? Yes? No? Why am I posting in questions?

Sorry if I'm derailing some ongoing conversation. I am currently in the process of buying a new graphics card. I have two 9800GTXs in SLi at the moment. So far I have it narrowed down to the GTX 460. It's in my budget and seems like the proper incremental upgrade from my existing cards. I've not been a fan of ATI but I am open to other suggestions. EDIT: While we're at it, I am also looking to upgrade my RAM. I have 2gb DDR3 clocked at 1600mhz cas 7 timings. I would love to get a pair of those same ones again, but they don't seem to manufacture them anymore. I have looked for 4gb packs but nothing out there has cas 7 timings. Any advice would be really appreciated.

Video Games Rodkin? -
Just finished it. Unlike the original game, the ending is really flat and lame. I even feel the entire plot is kinda cheap compared to the first game. The graphics and tech is amazing. Even the gameplay is decent, i.e shooting, driving etc feels alright. But the story comes out as the weakest link. Also, just realized that the original game had a free play mode which unlocked after the end. You could drive around in any car and complete some challenges or cause the usual havoc around the city. This game however doesn't have anything of that sort. It just ends, credits roll and back to main screen. You can look at the unlocked concept art, wanted posters or playboy magazines. You can browse the "car-cyclopedia" featuring models of the 42 cars in the game, but that's about it. I guess I feel cheated. The game even feels unfinished. Another thing, there were working trains and trams in the original game, which could be used by the player as viable means of transport. I believe they even forced the player to use them in one of the missions. There are visible train tracks around the city in Mafia 2 but no trains, not even AI trains. Just empty train tracks. I know it's a weird thing to complain about, but I was expecting features from the original game to be maintained and built upon, not cut entirely.

Played a couple hours last night and I like it so far. Even though the reviews of the game have not been that great, I am still enjoying it. Most reviews out there don't see this game as a "controlled" open world and expect to let you do things a GTA game would. I came into this game knowing what I wanted. I don't really care about not having much to do in the city besides drive around and complete missions. I don't really care there aren't many side missions either. Playing the game last night brought back quite a few nostalgic memories of playing the original game and that is all I basically wanted from the sequel. Anyway, played a couple chapters so far. The environments are really done well and look quite nice. The only thing I disapprove of are the playboy magazine collectibles that are apparently strewn around the world. I accidentally found one last night and I don't really understand what the point of it is. What were they thinking putting this stuff as collectibles in a game? More updates as and when I get the time to play again.

This shit happened to me to, except I have a US account and reside in Canada. Don't ask me why, I just do. At the time, I had purchased a PSN card from my local retailer, but of course it didn't go through because of the region lock deal. I had no idea they don't allow you to change your country. In my case, instead of creating another account, I just bought a prepaid mastercard and that went through just fine. So all my games are on one account even if they are not on a Canadian account. EDIT: I still have the PSN card lying around. If anyone out there with a Canadian account can make use of it just PM me.

So this means Chris Remo's Bioshock: To the Moon is another potential spin-off.
