  1. Left 4 Thumbs

We should have these happen more often if possible. The reason I bring this up now, is because I have the next two weeks off work. I am planning to catch up on all the games I have left unfinished and I am open to play L4D anytime during those two weeks. Then again, I suppose Sunday is the best time for most of us.
  2. Thumb Fortress 2: The Sessioning

I will play, but it would be for the first time, so someone would have essentially guide me through or something.
  3. http://steamcommunity.com/id/Skratche/ I feel like I've done this before... Assuming you've steam opened up, go to your community tab, select edit my profile on the right side. On the page that opens up, you should see an entry named "custom URL" where you can change the string to what you find most appropriate. I should say, it wasn't easy for me to figure this out the first time, as well. A whole lot trial and error and viola, now it's like I have two usernames...one for logging in and one for the community.
  4. I somehow cheated without even "Trine"?

Aww, I have a keyboard with volume controls on it, but it doesn't work for me. And AFAIK there wasn't a recent patch to fix it. So what gives? Not that I wanted cheats or anything, just sounded weird and cool at the same time, the way you described it.
  5. Left 4 Thumbs

I'll go ahead and confess that the "amazing boom" in the second video was my fault. I totally saw the boomer right in front of me and said "BOOMER, shoot". We were so ahead in terms of pts during the first two rounds, then for some reason the tables were turned. We completely lost it, in the next two rounds. It all came down to the final round and lets just say it was a real close game....and leave it at that. I second that. All I have played on versus is No Mercy and Blood Harvest. Death Toll could be a nice change.
  6. Left 4 Thumbs

I wasn't referring to you in that previous statement. It's only after you left, another guy immediately quit and then there were a whole bunch of joins and quits. Random people joined played a couple mins and quit upon dying. Whatever, I am just rambling on and on...I just plain and simple hate ragequits. Especially in L4D.
  7. Left 4 Thumbs

Since there were only four of us at the start, we had a fun game on expert for a while, until I unfortunately crashed. Shame we were doing good too. A while later, some of us happened to play good 'ol versus. It was a really close right up to the end, even with the constant ragequits. In fact, on my team I was the only one who stayed for the entire campaign. People were jumping in and out every minute. It was still loads of fun.
  8. Cloth maps > night vision goggles. On another note, including a ME2 item in Dragon Age CE is plain atrocious. But I suppose this kind of thing has become the quite the norm these days.
  9. Left 4 Thumbs

I am betting we are going to be overrun with participants this Sunday as well. In the case that we end up splitting into two or more groups, I would rather have a go at an expert/advanced campaign than same old versus. Besides, I think I'm close to getting the 53,595 kills achievement. I would love to finally get that one. EDIT: Turns out I've around 41,000...still a long way to go.
  10. Trine

Yeah just saw that and apparently its not $40 but $30 and if pre-purchased through steam, you get Shadowgrounds for free. Still a bit too much if you ask me. But I am thinking of buying it. That's what steam does to me....
  11. Trine

I am using the keyboard/mouse wasd controls. What's really confusing is 'w' is for jump, but you could also used space for jump. But sometimes you don't want to jump but rather go in a particular direction that could be associated by the 'w' key. Meh, you really have to play it, to understand what I'm trying to say. I suppose using a controller would makes things a little more clearer. But I would rather not use the dpad on the 360 controller I have lying around. Shit, I just realized that this a full-priced $40 game. Guess I'll be waiting for as steam sale. I first thought this was like a download-able small arcade kind of thing (Like Braid or Flock). Possibly priced around $20 max. Sorry to say it, but I am not paying more than $20.
  12. Trine

Demo for the PC version is out. And it's amazing, a bit frustrating at times, but almost all platformers can be annoying. Do we know if this is coming to steam? Preferably with steam achievements?
  13. Grand Thumb Fortress!

Shame I own TF2 but have never played it. Still if I get off work early, maybe I'll join in. Don't expect much from me though.
  14. The Secret World

Wait, it's a MMO? Bummer...I watched the trailer last night, never realized it was a MMO.
  15. Oh I knew puffin was a bird. I just thought puffin was also some kinda bakery product as well. EDIT: I just realized that "it" was a puffin (the bird) branded cereal. Puffins is just a brand name and not something you can eat. Well... For some reason all this while, I was thinking of a muffin or a pastry of some sort.
  16. Is a puffin like a puffed up muffin? Whatever that means... In any case, I would really like to know what a puffin looks or tastes like. Forgive my ignorance.
  17. Far Cry 2

See I was playing it when it came out. Played it non-stop for weeks and even enjoyed it. But then a bunch of other games came out (Fallout 3) and I immediately put FC2 on the backburner. FC2 has been an on/off experience for me. I play it for hours on end, but then some ridiculously frustrating things happen and I don't touch it for weeks. Until the day, when there's nothing to play and I remember that I still have FC2 to finish. To this day, I still have to finish FC2 and Fallout 3. I seem to have completely forgotten about it, since I started playing DOW2 and Empire: Total War.
  18. PC Geeks only. [Empire: Total War thread]

I got my preorder late, so I'm just installing this right now. There is one thing that is kinda weird. I figured since this was a retail disc, it would install from disc as opposed to downloading the files off steam. The steam install dialog box says it's installing from disc but the estimated completion time is like 2hrs. I can even hear the disc spinning, but what the hell is going on? Is steam downloading parts of the 15gb files and installling some from disc?I don't understand why installing from disc would take 2hrs. If it really is installing from disc, then this for me would be the longest install time to date.
  19. PC Geeks only. [Empire: Total War thread]

I wasn't aware that steam is charging more than retail. That seems very un-steam-like. In any case, I preordered through retail so no problems here. Oh and downloading 15gb on launch day does sound crazy. It does become problem when your ISP has set a monthly download cap.
  20. PC Geeks only. [Empire: Total War thread]

I played the demo and it's really great. The demo basically has two tutorials (land and naval) and two battles (land and naval). I have to say, the graphics have improved vastly from previous total war games. The water in naval battles looks totally awesome. The attention to detail in this game is really something. I mean how guys from a sinking ship would start jumping into the water or how ships and theirs masts take realistic damage. Once the ship's masts are destroyed it becomes immobile and can be thus boarded for melee combat. That aspect was enough to get me excited for the final game. The land battles are epic as well. Though it took me a while to understand the tactics in controlling units that use guns instead of spears/arrows/swords. The AI has improved drastically, in a manner of speaking. The enemy can take cover in nearby buildings and just stay there taking shots at you, unless you have cannons to bring down the building itself. There is one technical aspect that bothers me though. The load times are absolutely terrible. Not only does it take a long time to load into a battle but it also takes some time to quit the battle after finishing it. I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with my hardware as I have noticed other users have also reported this issue on the official forums. Not to mention, I have quad core processor which exceeds the recommended requirements. There are minor glitches here and there, but nothing that can't be fixed by a patch. One more week to go, 'til the full game.
  21. I remember playing this on the PC a while back (picked it up in a bargain bin). Good lord it was hard! I had a tough time finishing the game without having to resort to FAQs and walkthroughs. That doesn't mean the game wasn't good. I had a fun time playing it. A very different and unusual experience.
  22. I Am Alive

This is not coming out this year right? I vaguely remember reading that it was pushed to early 2010.
  23. PC Geeks only. [Empire: Total War thread]

So, there's an early review of Empire: Total War in PCGamer UK. I read in related forums that it got a 94/100. One big disappointment upon reading the review itself, is that the naval battles are not as epic as the land battles. The reviewer didn't like them for their simplicity and apparently ended up clicking "auto-resolve" during naval encounters. Also, shouldn't this thread be renamed to "Empire: Total War" or something more appropriate?
  24. F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin

I thought it was basically a given, that you could topple a table and then lean out to shoot. I miss the lean function as well and yes it is annoying when I can clearly see the enemy do it flawlessly. Not to mention, the existing cover system would've made more sense with a lean option.
