Glad to hear that the server is good. I have it for a month, so I might as well extend the subscription. I too sadly agree that two versus games are a bit too much. I wish there was a shorter "Crash Course" sort of map we could burn through. Not that scavenge is bad, just a thought of having shorter versus games.

I've got the server up and running, but right now it is accessible to the entire public. I wanted to make it exclusive to our steam group, but I need the group ID number. It seems that the six digit ID # is only visible to admins of the group. So if one you admins could please look it up in the admin options and post it here, that would be very helpful. EDIT: Thanks toblix for the ID. The server is now visible to all members of our steam group. So you should be able to see it when you launch the game. Currently, it's only cycling through campaign maps (Still have to figure some stuff out) but you can jump in and vote to return to lobby and change stuff.

That is how Valve operates. The demo gets removed once the game has been released. The same thing happened during the release of the first game.

I have bought a server in UK but haven't set it up yet. I got exams coming up and am kinda busy right now. I'll most certaintly have it done though before our Sunday game. This is a learning experience for me and I might not get it right the first time. So I make no promises.

For starters it's just an experiment. I don't want to involve anyone into this until we are sure the severs are good and are worth setting up. More importantly we need to know whether having a separate server improves pings considerably.
-
Don't worry about that. I got it all covered. I just want to know if there's much interest in having such a setup. The only possible issue I see is the location.
-
Well the server I was thinking of lets me have 8 spots. That means two campaign games or one versus game. Of course, I could have more than 8 spots by setting up more of them. I don't want to set up multiple servers at once though. Better to start out with just one, see how it goes and move on from then onwards.

Loved playing the intense versus games tonight. Though I have to admit the server problem is just ridiculous. Every Sunday we have to go through a bunch of "return to lobby" votes due to craptastic pings. I am thinking of setting up a server dedicated to thumbs ppl. I have done some light research and seems like I have the choice of either US, Canada, UK, Netherlands, France, Germany or Australia. Of these I think Australia is out of question. I'd rather not set in North America, since many of our regular L4Ders are in Europe. So I need some input from you guys. Also, this thread was meant to be discussion for L4D2. <nudge nudge> You folks who just posted in the other thread are wreaking the pattern.

Dude just hit me an invite if you see me online. I'll help you out. I am always up to play the original game rather than the sequel.

^That is hilarious. Why can't Valve fix a simple thing like stat tracking in one of their own games?

Lost all my 30 or so achievements. I thought I was immune, since I did not have a problem thus far. So much for that theory. I don't know if I should invest more time into getting those achievements back or just rather wait for an update that would somehow give them back. EDIT: They have returned as mysteriously as they had gone.

Haven't picked up L4D2 yet I see. I feel your pain.

Was fun indeed. Hope to see the new folks around next Sunday as well. On a side note, played scavenge mode for the first time today. Extremely difficult and needs great amount of teamwork. But as usual, was fun even when failing badly.

I saw that the time has been changed to a couple hours earlier than usual this Sunday. I won't be able to make it this time. But I might show up later on if any of you are still online.

I need somebody to play an expert campaign with. I tried it last night with some of the general public, didn't go so well. I'll be playing again tonight around 4-5 PM EST (9-10 GMT). The bots are no help obviously, so I need somebody who has played on expert before. I have decided not to touch realism mode, until I get through on expert first.
-
Same here. Besides, I got a shit load of other games piling up that I need to finish.
-
I finished three campaigns in a row. I need to finish the others off as well before Sunday, so we can get a versus game going. Of course it will all depend on how many of us are willing to play versus so soon. I spotted a couple of subtle bugs and glitches as well, but these will no doubt be fixed in the near future. At least let's hope they get fixed. Also, do any of you find that the spitter goo looks kinda funny, in a comical way? The textures and the colour on that thing just doesn't seem right.
-
Count me in. I will be playing it a couple hours before that time as well. You guys better show up becuase I have decided to skip class for this. BTW I'd rather not play versus since I wanna go through all maps on campaign first.
-
Depends on what time I get home. Either that or I skip my afternoon Anatomy class.
-
Wait what? According to my time, it unlocks at midnight. It can't be 10pm MST. I have even checked the posting on the official L4D2 group, it says midnight. In any case, it's only a two hour difference. BTW I doubt it would open up exactly at midnight, considering how they botched the demo release.

Mics are crucial in L4D games, especially in versus games. I used to have a mic but ever since it stopped working I haven't bothered to buy a new one. I somehow manage to get by using the text chat. I suggest you give the mic a try and decide for yourself.

Hey if you want to get into some versus action, you should make sure you get there early. Spots filled up pretty quick last week and I expect them to do so again this time around. Of course, we could potentially have multiple games going, but wouldn't you rather play as one group? Not to mention, this might be the last L4D game for most of us. Moving on to L4D2 next week.

You can change those numbers into a string of your choice in your profile settings.

I am always up for an expert campaign run, even though I have that particular achievement. Invite me if you see me online.

I'm about 15hrs into the game and I just looked at the statistics. What's funny is it says I have completed only 3% of the game. That could be because I spend a lot of time reading the codex entries. I wanted to know if any of you even bother about those.
