  1. Free Range FTW!

Great thread. Have been a vegetarian for over 12 years now. It began purely for the sakes of the animals, but over time, I began to realise it was necessary just to contribute to a healthy environment. I also try to eat as much locally grown food to cut back on transportation. It is a bit more expensive than just eating all the cheapest products, so I understand not everybody can do this every day, but it would help if everybody knew where the food sitting on their platter came from.
  2. Game of the Year '08

Hehe, nice site! And good selection of games Bring on 2009!
  3. The audio montage at the beginning of the episode was really good, must have taken a lot of work to put it together. Great episode, good discussions (especially the Dinosaur Park thing was hilarious). And now I'm looking forward to some fresh and up-to-date episodes.
  4. $t€4md!

Play always was more expensive in euro's than in pounds to compensate for shipping. Lately, Amazon.co.uk has become the better choice, as even with shipping they do make a standard conversion.
  5. $t€4md!

Ah their holiday sale is finally up. There is not really anything spectacular there, as most of the games on there can be found cheaper in their retail version. But Bioshock is interesting, and I just bought Doom II for one euro, for the heck of it.
  6. Rosy Rupee Land

I enjoyed it, it is kind of a Zelda 'lite'. There is the overworld, the dungeons, the rupees .. And the story is pretty funny about a thirty four year old guy who has to do something with his life, and decides to go around just collecting rupees. But I found it became quite frustrating. For everything you do, you need rupees. People won't talk to you if you don't give them rupees, and this isn't a fixed amount, everytime you have to guess how much to give to them. If you give too low, bummer, give again. If you give too much, you lost that money too. And rupees are also your lifebar. If you run out of rupees, you are dead. And you also need them to advance in the game. You have to fund a tower to get higher into heaven (or something like that) and that needs a whole lot of rupees. So I just stopped playing after a while, as this system became too much of a chore. But it has a few nice ideas. To fight, you need a companion (who you have to pay, of course) and there are a few choices (big and strong but expensive, or small and weak and cheap). The parody elements of Zelda also are quite funny (Tingle has his own 'puzzle solved' jingle). But ultimately, it is a nice little game and good to pick up at a low price, but nothing to get really invested in.
  7. 'He is black'. Oh god, I was jogging and I just doubled over at that one, there was someone sitting in a car who did watch strangely Do you have a link to that guy's blog that is archiving those old games? Sounds really interesting. Great show once again. I just find the countless interruptions sometimes irritating when someone is explaining something, but these are far and few between, and mostly the interruptions are hilarious so that compensates Merry Christmas to all the podcasters!
  8. The passing of time

The Fallout time limit was thankfully only a gimmick, as you could buy all the time you want. Another example I just remembered was Driver: Parallel Lines. Not a good game, but in this sandbox game, the first half of the game takes place in the seventies, and the second half in the modern era. Every building is still there, but with a modern jacket, really cool to see.
  9. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hi all. Heard about the podcast through GAF, subscribed to iTunes, listened to the first ten episodes, and now here I am.
  10. $t€4md!

The price has indeed become an issue, but it still is the easiest way to manage your games. I bought L4D retail (cheaper than on Steam), entered the product code and now I never have to touch the CD again. I was bummed when I bought Bioshock retail and it wouldn't accept my product code, now I always need to insert the cd to launch the game... But I will keep buying retail versions, their price isn't fair anymore to us Europeans. Last thing I bought on Steam was TF2 with 50% off in $.
  11. The passing of time

Fahrenheit indeed immediately comes to mind. The only other game I can think of is Mafia, and then more especially the ending, which did it beautifully. Don't forget Ocarina of Time ;-)
