  1. The thing with games is that provide an arena for the player to experience things in rather than a direct static one. This means that the player is very much responsible for message they take from the game. The other thing is that games require interaction which means that they have to provide some kind of incentive/ positive feedback to keep the player interested. This means that setting up any kind of negative experience causes all kinds of problems.
  2. Assassin's Creed II

The fact they were apparently leaning on reviewers again leads me to believe it's not going to be that good. Heck, I'm not going to trust the reviews either which way now
  3. Looks like an amazing, quirky, point and click adventure game: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/machinarium-hands-on gameplay video I'm loving what seems to be the trend in oddly beautiful games at the moment
  4. Lucidity

Is that good, I honestly have no idea how that relates to it being good or not
  5. So how come PSN is so shit?

Given the relative market share it's probably not worth the cost of porting xbla games from the x360 to the ps3. I might be talking out of my butt but I think sony might charge people bandwidth costs too. I can't remember where I got that idea from so take it with a large grain of salt.
  6. Lucidity

Looks great but the actual gameplay gets really frustrating, it's a shame really because I want to like the game but it just doesn't play well
  7. I think my 360 is dying... AGAIN!

I swear the ones you get back from the repair program are actually of a lower quality than new ones. Which is why I ended up buying a new arcade when my last one died out of warranty.
  8. Have people seen Machinarium?

It's $17 or £12! Just buy it you tight gits
  9. Will Langdell choke to death on writs?

Bullies always seem to eventually pick on the wrong person
  10. ODST - Your fathers Halo

Slightly surprised not to see an ODST thread. I have to say I enjoyed it more than I did 2 and 3. I feels much more like Halo 1 and brings you back to the old grenade-gun-melee combo. Brutes have replaced the Elites as an enemy to be feared. The return finite health also brings back a permanent penalty for mis-judgment or poor execution. All of that plus the night-time setting brings back some of the tension and forces you to slow down and assess a situation before piling in. The Hub parts also serve as a break from the action, something which Valve makes a lot of noise about doing. All in all I really liked the campaign and fire-fight is great fun too.
  11. ODST - Your fathers Halo

    all for naught
  12. ODST - Your fathers Halo

    Yeah, just saw that bah
  13. Mass Effect 2

No. Just no. With any luck you'll be able to suit her up in armour. If there was only a way to shut her up, that dialog was truly terrible
  14. Forza Motorsport 3

You say that but to me the damage boils down to lower top speed, crap gear change and the steering pulls. That seems to happen no matter what so of crash you get in
  15. Scribblenauts review up!

Having just listened to the Giant Bomb podcast and it's totally killed any excitement I had for this game It sounds like such a car wreck to actually play.
  16. Favourite endings to games.

    HL2 Portal
  17. Brütal Legend overload...!

I'd definitely agree with that - it screams polish. It reminds be of games like Spartan and Viking - games of that ilk
  18. Direct mp3 download

Looks pretty raw but worth keeping an eye one
  19. Brütal Legend overload...!

It's hard to tell - the demo is totally linear. I ran into a few invisible walls
  20. Direct mp3 download

Me too, but since they changed the security in 1.5 applications are no longer allowed to enable and disable it like they used to I tend to leave it on.
  21. Direct mp3 download

http://phandroid.com/phones/#available I think it's the Lancaster thats in the rumoured section, not sure though.
  22. Brütal Legend overload...!

Single use I think. It's a real shame, the movies show there's so much more to the game but the demo is already 1.5Gb so maybe they had to cut it short
  23. Direct mp3 download

The battery problem isn't a phone problem so much as an App problem. The GPS, when enabled, isn't actually running unless an application is using it. The trick is that apps aren't stopped so much as minimized when you move away from them meaning that they can still be keeping the GPS active even if they're not using it in a sensible fashion. Another thing you can do is hold a lock on the processor to stop the phone from going to sleep fully which is great if you want to wake the phone up, do some work and go back to sleep. However if you don't release the lock the cpu never goes to sleep so bye bye battery. Both these things only afflict badly written apps*. The next update (1.6 aka donut) includes a program which shows you which apps are using all your battery. LG and Motorola both has Android devices coming soon and I think there is a general rumour of an HTC refresh of the G1 too. *The Android application lifecycle is odd so it's not surprising it's causing problems - certainly tripped me up
  24. Brütal Legend overload...!

I thought the demo was weak. It's so short and limited it doesn't give you a chance to see what the game is like. Having attack on A is weird too but the game seems smooth and funny.
