One of the things that has helped me to stay active, along with the obvious intelligence of the members, lack of retarded console flame wars et. all, is the fact that everybody appears capable of good spelling and grammar, and bothers to write proper english. At the risk of sounding like your english teacher or your grandad (replace the war with spelling), the literacy level on most forums on is low; when you see posts written properly it becomes so easy and pleasant to read. Even if the contents contain faux-intellectual willy-waving sometimes. I can deal with that - it's a small issue - as long as it is lexically correct!

Relic, in an interview discussing the forthcoming DoWII, let slip an interesting take on how to deal with people nicking their game... Quite a healthy step forward I reckon.

It's a drag game, but the cube has inertia. You get some kind of bonus for managing to balance it on its edges as well (a little timer appears), but I haven't worked out what/how much yet.

I like the idea of that - but it also makes me sad, as I think about what a bunch of dupes we are in the western market.

Man, you should see some of the vids on the wipeout forum - a lot of people seem to be able to get to zone 50-odd with ease, and I think one chap as posted a vid of zone up to around 120 - although it stops getting faster around 80 or so. Still, it beggars belief. I can just about manage 25 :/ But then there will always be folk better than me at any game.

I went down Leeds markets one day, and in common with most markets, there was one row that was filled with butchers. I asked about 5 of the different shops if they knew the farm the food came form or the abbatoir. If I remember correctly only 2 knew which abbatoir they came from, let alone the farm.

Started doing this seriously about a few years ago - now we make the extra effort to buy stuff that's grown/raised locally, failing that at least local independant shops, supermarkets come last now. It often works out cheaper too. The quality of the meat from the local butcher is staggering, often for only a little bit more than the supermarket, sometimes cheaper.

"Let's try this again shall we Dougal? Small." *points at toy cow on table" "Far away" *points at real cow in the distance* Wonderfully silly program. -

If anyone fancies listening to something a little different, try 'Deerhoof'. A strange blend of instrumental, harmonics, some indie rock influence and japanese vocals. -
Aaaaah! Series 3 & 4 should be arriving shortly

Well, at risk of being completely ostracised for this, I went to the cinema last night (under duress initially, as I'm getting sick to the back teeth at having to get angry at people for talking to each other, on the phone etc.), but I'd had a shit day and wanted something light hearted and easy viewing...so we went to see 'Role Models'. Pleasantly surprised, it was actually quite funny. Anyway, it did the job and raised my mood, so here's a recommendation for it.

I couldn't run throught the room, so ended up taking them out one by one. There's loads of little bits where you can 'trick' them into coming round a corner and out of covering fire to beat them up.

I think you're right Jake. I can't wait to leave this fucking country.

Yeh I thought it was satirical...until I looked into it. Fucking scary man.

As an aside, Peter Sommer [soma? ] makes a good point - information gathered remotely will not be able to stand up in a court due to the rules governing the forensic acquisition of data. That's not to say that it couldn't be used as a reason to get a warrant to obtain such information forensically, but that's a different pot of eggs altogether.

Yeh it got me enraged for a while. Notice however, it's not ruled out for the future... More seriously, I've just noticed that I missed an apostrophe in 'it's', and I can't correct said error
