Oo, I dunno, looks quite good tech this time around. I won't be able to use it though due to fucked eyes.

I liked Chris, and eventually liked Wikus. I thought it was quite sympathetic towards the aliens tbh.
  5. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

So I was playing this very late last night, going round collecting riddler trophies, when I heard the radio in one location talking about how great Arkham Asylum (the place) was, and giving out a web address. That is ArkhamCare - a really nice little meta-site, showing how much effort has gone into this game. There's some nice stuff surrounding employee login as well...

Just to throw another iron in the fire, Sony appear to be doing interesting things with 3D gaming, things which will link directly into Bravia TVs. Eurogamer Article

More votes for District 9 and The Hurt Locker. Top quality.

I reckon LCD's are all pretty much of a muchness now. Some people will prefer some brands etc. Personally, I've got a Samsung, purchased when I got the 360. Great screens, but poor DTV software. If you've got the money (or rather if I had some to get another screen!) I'd go for a Bravia W series or something.
  9. Life

After nearly 6 months on the rock and roll, I've been offered a job today, as a learning disabled outreach support worker. The salary is a little over a 1/5 from my previous job, but at least I won't be working for a load of bastards who didn't really give a shit about the security of the publicly run database they were put in charge of, and were only really interested in covering their own arses. Signs were good early on in the interview when I was sat down in their break area with a scenario to study and fill in a shift report. 10 people charged in for a coffee break, which initially irritated the piss out of me. Still, I ignored that feeling, and they all turned out to be dead friendly people, and let me join in with what they were chatting about. I got a few tips about the upcoming interview as well - the sort of mentality the job needs, the ssort of thing I should be thinking about, as I have no prior experience whatsoever of this type of job. The people in the job were very unassuming and seemed nice enough. So, onward with the career change, although I won't be leaving security far behind... as soon as my sciatica is better and I'm up to speed with Xcode, there are a few iphone apps bursting to be written. Game on!
  10. Definition Transition - Are YOU HD?

Iplayer on v.3.0 is a total coup.

You will be astounded again with BR. I was given Planet Earth BR for my birthday a year ago. It's another level of clarity above DVD.
  12. Sooooo... Diablo II then.

Loving it. However, thhere I was, tramping about Stony Field, when I came across a large bunch of nasties. My 3 skeletons couldn't tank their damage, and then neither could I. I presume my gear is on my dead body...but I lost a level of skeleton summoning skill. Is that it then? Have I lost it forever?
  13. Sooooo... Diablo II then.

Agreed. There was a PC gaming drought for me for a while when I couldn't afford a new machine to play all these whizzy games. Now I'm back in that position again, but they're old enough to run on my netbook. Job's a good'un.
  14. Games with steep difficulty curves

The levels in Trials HD are so perfect. Each one seems tricky until you go to the next one. Then you think back on what an easy time you had. The hard levels are really really tough, but still doable. Just. I remarked to Nachimir that I avoid games like this as they get frustrating, but there's something about it that doesn't make me want to smash the controller [Ferris Wheel, veteran, I'm looking at you]. I just keep retrying it - maybe it's the joyful implementation of retry, in that it's near enough instant. A load to retry the track would have meant me playing it for about half an hour. Had quick go at the extreme first level. I think I've reached the first hanging man on the Eve learning cliff. The bulldozer is what cracks me up the most though.

Saw Push the other night. Enjoyed the story, and Dakota Fanning was excellent.

I think you're about to get your first!

  18. iPhone/iTouch gaming

Everyone beware: Erkki, despite not playing much scrabble, and being Estonian, is pretty bloody good at it. The two people that seem to play a stronger game than me are not English. Christ I suck
  19. Definition Transition - Are YOU HD?

If it has an HDMI socket, it will be HD-Ready at the very least, so you will be getting 720p minimum.
