I remember A Feast For Crows being not as exciting initially as the first few, but it picks up.

That's me looking gormless outside where I park for work. Check out the Edfu temple to the left!

I've been watching 'The Sweeney' for the last year or so. Despite being so old, it's still great. Well worth a watch. Some great sarcasm in there too.
  6. Half Life 2: I'm really missing the point

I remember playing it first back when it came out, or just after, late '98 or something, and a friend saying it was awesome, so I tried it on his machine. This was back when I had no money, so didn't have a machine to run it. Got a about a third the way through, remember loving it, and then I ended up leaving the area. So I forgot about it. Two years later I started a job in a multimedia firm around 2000, and they were all HL mad - played DM at lunchtimes and after work etc. I loved that too, so played the MP a little bit, then played the game (on work machine as I didn't have the resources to divert for personal use), and loved it all over again. Was also very impressed that valve had written the game so that it ran on NT - I think the games that did you could count on the fingers of one hand at that time. I even upgraded my work machine with a gfx card that I bought personally so I could play with better resolution (Geforce 2 iirc) At the time, there was no other game with the atmosphere, quality of story and gameplay that could touch it. That's why there was so much hype and playing it now will seem kind of ordinary, but at the time it was in a league of its own. Found HL2 good, but a little boring in places. The coastal section was fab - and the bridge...ooooo...can remember the vertigo and stomach churns it gave me even now! At least the Black Mesa devs are getting a little more voluble on twitter, so hopefully they're getting close to releasing something.
  7. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

Looking at them might be enough sometimes
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeh sure, that did stretch it and break credulity. Just before that bit there's the woman shouting at them across the forecourt which made me a bit concerned. Then there's the eating of the squirrel. The point I was trying to make though was that there is always a lot more scope for them in the overseas challenges, whereas the normal episodes are very tightly scripted and often a little forced. Still damn good teevee though! The Beetle in Africa was provided by the producers in case one of the main cars broke down, as a threat as they don't like them, rather like the USA liveried motorbike in 'Nam.

They are also the most unscripted progs, as they have to ad-lib a lot more. Really shows the good chemistry. I was genuinely worried for them in America in that redneck town. Events were triggered by Hammond having 'Man love rules OK' painted on his truck. Only just saw the Arctic one recently... That was top too!
  11. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Ok, so it's not as highbrow as Tim thingamajig, it's just people hurting themselves. It is, however, bloody funny if you like that sort of thing. YUITPWY-vOQ[/url]
