  1. Just picked this up again after a busy couple of weeks. As it booted, my heart wasn't in it. After 10 mins play (and a couple of wipes!), I was sucked in. A finely crafted game indeed - although I think I chose too high a difficulty level. The upshot of this is that Skeletal Infantry and Bowmen are mere XP bonuses. RPS had it right - when you find a new weapon, your heart fair sings! Crossbow for my rogue was most welcome, as was a proper spiked mace for my fighter to replace his balloon on a stick. Making my way around L4 atm, with an occasional foray to 5 via pits .

Firefly series 2? Too soon? Too LATE?
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

That is great news! The series has really evolved as time has gone on.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

    The Avengers. Thoroughly good fun..
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

But apart from that, you liked it?
  6. Game of Thrones (TV show)

Heh. It took him long enough for DoD. Reckon he'll kark it before that comes out.
  7. Books, books, books...

Talking about dick authors (ok, maybe you weren't but it's triggered a memory), a friend lent me the first two books of L Ron Hubbard's sci-fi years ago. This was before I knew he was responsible for the dickest organisation ever, but I read these books, and ended up really hating the author for writing this. From what I remember, all of the characters were massive dicks, either rampant, selfish egotists, sly, backstabbing bastards or something else. You might think that this is cool and realistic, rather than the one dimensional characters we sometimes have to put up with. However, they were pretty one-dimensional iirc, but were all one-dimensional bastards. Not one of the characters had any redeeming feature at all, and the entire society just seemed to be out for themselves and barely functioned. This may, of course, have been his point, but it made for a miserable experience. I don't think I made it half-way through the 2nd book. Then I found out that he had started a quasi-cult, and it all became clear. I thought back to his books and was glad that I hated them, that without the front-loaded knowledge of him starting this cult for idiots, I still loathed him. [Edit]I had to look the name of the books up, and it was 'Mission Earth'.

American Horror Story is actually pretty good. Really really sinister. Had to stop watching it, because we live in a mega old house.
  10. Fez

The cube you're talking about is probably one of the artefacts.
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

Veep is on in 3 days.
  12. ...or objective C. I think it's quite elegant, in it's way. /me runs.
  13. Mad Men

Nothing ever happens. Doesn't stop it being one of the best things on telly. Up there with Wire and Breaking Bad.
  14. Mad Men

Anyone caught the 5th series of Mad Men yet? Does it live up to it's promise?
  15. I usually find the O'Reilly books to be pretty good - it depends on what you like though. BEst thing about them is you can get full digital copies now, which are all searchable, and more importantly, don't take up shelf/desk space.
  16. Fez

Yeh, we used this to clear a room to make jumps gettable. I think it's part of the game, 'cos near the start, the little floating cube explains to you that the blackholes come and go.
  17. Non-video games

I've found SmartGo Pro to be pretty good (on iphone) they have another for the ipad, if that's what you're after.
  18. Non-video games

I've picked Go up again in the last few months, but I'm not very good. But, our TZs are completely out of kilter.
  19. Fez

Fallng off goes mercifully un-punished, thankfully. As does dying in general. This is good.
  20. Fez

The sound is great. Love the bell toll.
  21. Fez

I've found the one you mean; different ones.
  22. Fez

This game is fabulous. We ignored the map initially, but after doing few of the levels, it becomes pretty easy to navigate with it. The QR code we found Loving it.
  23. Maybe I got over-excited. Beyond the basics, there is none. Nothing that can't be attributed to Bard's Tale, D&D and indeed any other form of RPG. I'm stupid, sorry.
  24. That really surprises me Chris, actually. You really go for RPGs like Torchlight and Diablo (and while not the same), there's a bit of heritage there. I guess I just assumed that you would have cut your teeth on Dungeon Master.
