  1. How do you change number of posts per page? [/sorry if obvious]
  2. G4ming Keyb0rdz

Apparently you should buy one of those mechanical keyboards because despite looking more industrial they are supposedly much better when it comes to the nuts and bolts of actually pressing keys down... there's some keyboard test you can do where digital keyboards will fail as they can only take so many inputs at a time, and the travel of the keys is very on/off (which I'm guessing refers to how on some keyboards you can get away with pressing the key down without it registering). I wouldn't know myself but 'dats what I read! [/disclaimer] If it's the same one I think it is I actually had the same keyboard you're looking to get rid of, the calculator button on it is still something I can't train myself to get out of the habit of reaching for.
  3. Diablo III

Does this game make anyone else's PC run really hot? It's a little weird that it's more taxing (heat wise, not performance wise) than ArmA II/DCS A-10 for example? Not sure I understand that... Class wise I've tried Barbarian (which I played in the beta) and Wizard... Wizard is pretty naff in the beginning, found it a bit like playing Dota2 ranged but with no decent abilities (so far).

  5. Something witty about OnLive

Anyone tried that Gaikai service on Eurogamer in the same vein? Playing demos of games in your web browser... Was just as impressive and starts working in minutes. I seemed to have less input lag with it as well. It's also pretty upfront about the length of your license. I think they only have agreements with some games for so long (I seem to remember 2014 for one of them), after which you may no longer have access to it if they don't renew their deal. I tried the demos and I was definitely impressed with what I saw but like others have said I wonder whether they'll be the guys carrying the baton when this stuff really takes off. *looks wistfully at Valve*
  6. Batman: Arkham City

Updated (well, automatically updated) the game today and I can no longer get play the game [...] unless I log out of GFWL and play offline where it now magically works perfectly in DX11 (etc) ...and yet they list the problem I'm now getting as one of the fixes in the patch.
  7. Uncharted 3: the Uncharteningest

Well, I doubt you're going to finish either Skyrim or Batman any time soon, but for the rest of us who were waiting for the patch; now is the time to get back in there! Apparently they've reintroduced motion blur to singleplayer too, which is odd since I never noticed that was missing. I wonder whether the two are related.
  8. Batman: Arkham City

Don't know if it was just me either, but on that first level; crawling around on the floor kicking up those posters and watching them get caught around her body and flap about realistically combined with those ruffling sounds was an interesting couple of minutes too... the animation, sound and physics of the clutter was genuinely impressive! Are you playing in DX11? I read about Gwardinen (and for that matter everybody elses) DX11 problems but I did the typical "ah it won't happen to me" approach. Eventually got it working in DX9 after a couple of restarts - don't know why it blacked out on me in the beginning.
  9. Batman: Arkham City

If you want Skyrim, you could try Gamesplanet.com, it's where I bought it (cheaper than any where else digitally at the time), and they are the digital arm of GAME in the UK so it's perfectly legit. I used them to buy DOWII in the past for £5 and they let me download it from them or use STEAM so it depends on the game, but for Skyrim they just send you a CDKEY that you put into STEAM. As for Batman... I got it free so I'm not going to complain too much but I can't get it to work nicely with GFWL. If I login to my account my screen suddenly gets 2 frames per second (in the menus!) but if I use an offline account it's silky smooth!? So now I disable DX11... try again, and this time - bizzarely - it works when logging in to an online account, everythings looking good, press start game, get greeted with a blank screen... everything still works, can hear music and GFWL pops up when I try and ALT+F4 my way out. But no actual game.
  10. Black Friday Deals

From what I understand it's considered a bad port of a now relatively old game. I've heard stuff about it being locked at 30FPS, unable to up the resolution because of the motion-capture technology, something about cut-scenes not scaling to your monitor. I don't know how accurate all that is, as I played it on the PS3 where I thought it was an okay game, but like Miffy I also eventually got bored with it! You must not have been paying attention because people were calling Heavy Rain shit even before it was released. I seem to remember the same thing with Dragon Age 2, but in that case I just assumed people were being hyper-critical the way they were with Mass Effect 2. Should probably play more than a couple hours of the game to decide where I stand on that... think it was crashing, or freezing on dialogue the last time I tried.
  11. Batman: Arkham City

    Same boat as you but reading on the forums you can apparently do this;
  12. V The Elder Scrolls

I find fighting them tedious and usually ignore them but if they persist I tend to use my usual tactic of running towards the nearest mammoth farmer and letting them do it for me
  13. STEAM hacked

Apparently. Go go gadget password changer... oh wait, that's me... every, single, month, it seems like. Although it should be said there's supposedly no cause for panic. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-11-10-valve-confirms-steam-security-breach
  14. The sneaky stealth game thread.

See for yourself, the game should be awarded double points for allowing this; rt5aUdijAN8 ...and this; 6PG2CPSxE_0
  15. The sneaky stealth game thread.

Well, I'm sneaking around stealing stuff in Skyrim if that counts. In fact it's probably the most perversely satisfying form of sneaking because the rewards are pretty high with some of the stuff you can steal. It's a shame the world isn't so reactive, I mean it's almost comical in a sense, but can't say it's spoilt my enjoyment or the hilarity that ensues when a shopkeeper follows you around his store.
  16. V The Elder Scrolls

For anyone that wishes the graphics were a bit crisper, more PC'ish, there's a couple of files you can download here; http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=21 which have the desired effect. Just stick it in your Skyrim directory and away you go. The screenshot on that site makes it look more extreme than it is, and although sharpen filters are a bit artificial and far from ideal its really made the difference for me. My eyes don't feel like they are submerged in gunk. Worth a try at least. Well it could have been better suited to a mouse & keyboard setup at the very least. It's far from ideal and the fact you seemingly have to use the mouse to select some components (or reach over to the enter key) is very finicky for example. The inventory system works once you understand it but the menu system overall is just wrong for the PC. It takes you out of the game in my opinion, and you don't really get to enjoy any of the stuff you pick up because by christ you want out of the menu system asap (again, imo ). It's not a problem that kills the game or anything but you'd think they'd spend more time in the porting process. Imagine console users getting a PC interface to deal with in reverse. *says someone currently playing and enjoying the game*
  17. Uncharted 3: the Uncharteningest

Hah, well they do say they updated the aiming for Uncharted 3. Something about bullets now shooting straight (?) so who knows maybe it'll feel less alien to you because I personally found the aiming in Uncharted 1 & 2 to be perfectly normal, but apparently not. Still doesn't make any sense to me why they changed it.
  18. Uncharted 3: the Uncharteningest

As soon as you get a gun in the game you'll notice, it's very odd. A video; ARYIqfvswDU It makes it look game breaking but in truth it's more of an annoyance that you begrudgingly get used to. Not sure why it's like that but will be happy if they fix it.
  19. Uncharted 3: the Uncharteningest

Not had any lockups or anything on my end but I'm still waiting until they get that patch out to fix the aiming. I muddled on so far and it hasn't gotten in the way but once they acknowledged it I figured might as well wait. To anyone who played the previous games it was so painfully obvious that you have to question the role of reviews when they decide to omit stuff like that... Otherwise I was really enjoying it, very Uncharted'y. The beginning of the game it was difficult (in a good way) to know whether you were watching a cut-scene or controlling one. The sequence with a young drake was nicely done too, especially with regards the animation. The way Drakes hands now grab out to hold onto stuff procedurally (to the extent he can brush books out of bookcases) is a nice flourish.
  20. V The Elder Scrolls

I had the problem myself (using an old PCI X-FI) but switching that setting seems to have done the trick. Voices are still quite quiet relative to everything else and they can get cut off like in Fallout 3 (because you moved to far away or something) which can get annoying - but otherwise good to go. Game is very enjoyable and Oblivion/fallout 3-ish (both good and bad). The only problem is it looks like someone smeared my monitor with a console game. Even with everything on ultra and with several ini tweaks. Not complaining so much because it still manages to look really nice but it's a shame it comes across as more of a port (right down to the clumsy menus) and not the lead platform. The dialogue system is poor too, you don't really feel like there's a narrative to your discussion, just ask questions which happen to be scripted but might not necessarily mean anything to you for example. I'm still very early in the game though (whatever that means) so whatever.
  21. STEAM hacked

Does that include everything, username and email for example? It seems with STEAM Guard enabled and a 2-step verification email like gmail that your STEAM account isn't really hackable either so that's a bonus, or weight off your (my) mind.
  22. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

I think it's interesting you find such a difference between the two, I mean I know there are some improvements but I wouldn't have thought they'd have changed someones overall perception of combat. Glad to see I'm wrong though and that you're now enjoying the game. Just remember something about a crossbow for on a later level (a level that will make your jaw drop) because apparently that will save you a lot of heartache.
  23. Uncharted

Uncharted 2 is just as difficult. I remember the last couple of levels were a challenge for me especially, almost to the extent I was prepared to throw my controller across the room. I'm not sure it's better either, it's just more of the same, done better, so if you don't like the first I doubt you'd like the sequel, or the sequels sequel. I personally enjoy the story and its characters enough that I can look past the formulaic combat and 'puzzles that solve themselves', and some of the set pieces, particularly in the sequel(s?), are amazing.
  24. I've played about 8hrs of the game so far and I think it's pretty addictive and fun in multiplayer for sure. Singleplayer was such an obvious COD rip-off I couldn't stomach playing it for more than 10 minutes at a time but it supposedly gets better. Right now the only thing that's annoying me are the maps are not big enough in my opinion. 64 players (on the PC) is enough to have bigger maps where you actually need to ferry people to and from the frontline, as it is now you can literally get into a helicopter, go up a few feet and then notice you've been locked onto by a lone soldier a stones throw away. Not saying all the maps should be bigger but they should have made one or two really big maps especially for the PC. Think it would be nice to let the game breathe a little, and give my ears a chance to rest at least... as the pounding from the sound effects are glorious at first but it soon becomes fatiguing. Oh and all the explosives spamming that goes on, especially with ammo packs thrown on the ground to replenish... gets old fast.
  25. Battlethumbs 3

I'm on as Cigoler and would be happy enough to serve as explodable room meat in any potential Idle Thumbs BF2 meet.
