That practically all major cast members are returning to provide their talent (in voice and scripting) is a mouth watering prospect (Can anyone else say testing the waters for Ghostbusters 3? ), now I just hope it can live up to expectations or at the very least deliver a solid gaming experience. The screenshot looks interesting - at a glance it seems like it might be an on the rails type escape up the building? A lot of people wax lyrical about the old Ghostbuster games (never played them!), but I can remember a version on the Amstrad that had multiplayer co-op (of a sort)

I'm disappointed by the reception it's recieving but I guess I can't say I'm surprised. It initially had a lot going for it but as the hype played out the cracks started to appear. Probably one of those rare occasions where media saturation didn't work in its favour - at least from a critical standpoint, as I've no idea whether it's ruling the sales chart or not? And there goes my desire to play the game. Plop.

pryo and medic? Can't really see that myself with it's short range and lack of killing power (on its own). I can imagine it would definitely depend on the map as to its effectiveness as well. Though arguably the people and contraptions the spy takes out have (invariably anyway) a potentially profound effect on proceedings. It's definitely trickier these days as well.

Don't always walk backwards - it depends on the map and the context really. The whole walking backwards thing (especially with a medic symbol) is so typical of spies these days that it actually makes you stand out more in my experience.

My rationale is because it was for the greater good

That sounds like the best easter egg ever. Can't believe I never experienced it first hand

Thrik; you posted the same thing on RPS? I do remember the map, but can't say I recall a moveable box with a heart on it. You should email Gabe asking for compensation, he'll probably respond as well Something I found on another forum, thought it was quite funny; http://www.weebls-stuff.com/wab/cube/

I just joined a server and then so did a couple of others and it never progressed from that really. That is unless you want to count my complete and utter domination of course We need someone to guide us like sheep - Shilling tried for a bit with Steam chat (which I forgot about) and voice comms - and I think there was enough of us for a team on a smaller server. Counter-Strike is a different game style to be fair, but you're quite right with what you say. It doesn't really curtail enjoyment of the game but it is irritating when you're on a team that's completely impotent and the clock is counting down to your impending doom.

Does it not dynamically adjust to the users timezone? It says 7pm here (GMT) but I really just posted to get the thing 'official'.

This just happened to me as well - same level - my starting move is straight away diagonally into that moving block in the middle and as it's coming downwards diagonally they intersect, screen fades and I'm stuck in the top left corner. Really nice game though. A tad too simple to fully capture my attention but I can definitely appreciate what's going on.

I vote 4th, if only for the connotations it has with 'Independence Day'. A somewhat overrated, but enjoyable movie experience.

Idea to fall on its arse in, oh, approximately one week

Those screenshots above aren't in-game surely

I personally think it has become somewhat overrated I didn't find any of the puzzles particularly enjoyable or taxing, for me the thrust of the game developed into merely enjoying what was happening. I don't believe it truly succeeds as a game in contrast to say EP2 or TF2, and its qualities are purely (or at least out of the box; more suited) as an experience first and foremost. The credits sequence for example is entirely non-interactive and its impact isn't garnered from any of your actions but rather the pre-determined plot and characters crafted by Valve. It's also the one thing people remember the most. There's a lot of charming interactions I agree, and the game itself isn't completely barren (if my mumbo-jumbo gives that impression) but the game.... the game itself... it just isn't GOTY material. It's something you look back on fondly as an experience - or at least that's how I see it anyway. I do find it a little grating that TF2 and EP2 aren't recieving the same critical attention because I think both of those games achieve something above their respective stations. Portal (out of the box) was for all intents and purposes a nice modification with an hilariously charming backdrop. Don't hate me

I never saw GMan once! :getmecoat:getmecoat Amelie is one of my favourite films and I didn't realise the gnome connection :getmecoat:getmecoat:getmecoat Nevermind...
-
That's the only place the gnome is as far as I'm aware. It's such a sexah gnome at that. Pity I don't have the backbone to take him with me as it'd be a pretty neat achievment to posess

Hilarious and right on the money. The only thing I would disagree with is the downplaying of Episode 2. I found the experience to be truly memorable and the new scientist wasn't a walrus for me at all () - its such a well crafted experience with far more exposition and cinematic drama than HL2 and EP1 combined. I'd also dread to think how long it would take for them to sit down and make a sequel to HL2, a lot longer than making episodic content I imagine. This is just how Valve work.

Have you guys seen this flash version of Portal? It's actually pretty cool: http://www.armorgames.com/games/portaltheflashversion_game.html

I'm glad someones mentioned UT3 - playing the beta really makes you appreciate the attention to detail in TF2. Nachimir: another strategy perhaps, (well not one I was aware of anyway), is the chaining of medics. I noticed this when I joined your game the other night and it seemed to work quite well were it not for the lack of offensive players to take advantage of it.

You can also access the gifts interface in the tools menu. They don't need to be a friend, you can always enter the email address - its much the same thing I believe.

I'm so in love with valve right now it's ugly
-
I'm up to the war of the worlds moment, just having the freedom to drive around and plan your attacks, it's just so fucking good! The character exposition is much greater this time around as well, really loving it.... don't want it to end
-
One thing I don't understand though; why didn't Valve implement the depth of field effect? It works so well in TF2 that I'm sure they could have tweaked it to a realistic level? Shame.
