  1. Spore demo leaked

EA seem very fractured and disparate on the frontend that I can't see it being any better behind the scenes. I just wouldn't be comfortable purchasing from them when it's such hard work navigating their maze of websites. Wrestle; fins and things like that are in the full editor.

    One step ahead of you!
  3. Spore demo leaked

Actually my method was very legal Direct2drive are offering the UK release as of now, the EA service (which I recommend you stay clear of) won't be active until later tonight I believe. Strange that huh? D2D you do have to buy the full pre-order of the main game in order to get the money back off the full game, on EA's service you get a coupon so you can buy it later.
  4. Spore demo leaked

    Well I have the full version now, my first creation;
  5. Just completed Act 3, and started Act 4. I laughed so hard, great fan service. I thought my PS3 had crashed (not such a great feeling, whoa) and then we get treated to that little gem (not to mention all the goody items we got beforehand). Brilliant
  6. Spore demo leaked

Just look at what's being created with 1/4 of the 'parts' - wait until it's all unlocked
  7. Spore demo leaked

It looks just like him, bless; http://plaza.fi/edome/uutiset/spore-houkutteli-nettipervot-piiloistaan I want to know what the guys who worked on this game think about all these creations. I find them amusing and harmless but I suppose it is a little discrediting.
  8. Spore demo leaked

There's some seriously fucked up creations out there. Don't watch this one if you want to be blissfully ignorant; http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-689194118682834081

Use the mouse wheel on buts of the skeleton to fatten or thin that area of the flesh. I didn't know this! Also, you can have ape like creatures if you put the ape like hands on the arms. Doh.
  10. I wish there was a way of telling Naomi to button her fricking shirt up. Honestly, what was she thinking? It freaks me out.
  11. If you have aspirations of playing MGS4 you should just dive in. Snake Eater is different enough in terms of approach that it should make the experience in MGS1/2 less jarring in terms of 'going back' technologically.

  13. Medieal 2:TW - Worth playing?

MTW is a game I adore but hate in equal measure. It requires so much of your attention and dedication to get the most out of it - the middle-to-end game is very hard indeed. Just so much to keep track of that it becomes overwhelming and I eventually give up and lose all frame of reference forcing me to start over the next time I get the itch.
  14. Spore demo leaked

I've got it, hoping it isn't malware but it's worth it if is Extremely fun to while away creating little critters but I'm not going to draw any conclusions from this as to the main game - just enjoy it for what it is and pray SPORE lives up to the hype My quick attempt at a dragon type creature; The fun part is watching them run around. I tried to create a monkey type creature that didn't just walk on it's hind legs but it seems the hands can only be used as hands?
  15. The Meryl thing ('spoilers' regarding the first MGS game) ; So far I'm finding the game very enjoyable and expect anyone who already likes MGS will too. Those who don't know what it is however will probably find it a bit mad and confusing, whilst those who already hate it will be rolling their eyes and switching the PS3 off well before the first hour is up. That cutscene where Snake first meets Liquid is fupping great, plus did you know you can reset the camouflage by shaking the controller and that it also works during cutscenes, lol. There's quite a few things like this that aren't documented - if you've played MGS before you'll know most of the extras instinctively but it's a shame they aren't explicitly pointed out for newbies (the camera controls in cutscenes for example). Oh yeah... used cutscene a lot in that last paragraph for a good reason I'm disappointed in the flashback sequences though - I was expecting something far more substantial when I'd first heard about them. They are just fleeting images and the odd short-lived sound effect. It's nice having played the previous games to recognise these assets but I was really hoping they'd be less of a gimmick (in earning Drebin points) and more of a tool in tying up the references made. Still, minor quibble - perhaps they get better as the game goes along? Regarding stealth; the normal difficulty is surprisingly easy so as an MGS regular you'll want to set it higher (and also know that there is an unlockable harder difficulty setting once you've completed the game), but saying that I think it's more a case of people resorting to violence because it's extremely viable (being a war zone) and more functional, satisfying and action orientated in approach. The latter is a blessing because now the boss fights feel less like puzzles and more like the action sequences they are purported to be during cutscenes. There's been a few action sequences which could be considered 'fights' and they benefit from the new system too - they'd have been clunky and dull in any other MGS. The game doesn't force you to play it quietly and I think some people are just falling into the trap of running and gunning (which is especially easy, and tempting, with the array of lethal weaponry on offer). I'd say it's more likely a byproduct of the tweaks made to combat as there's always a sneaky option just around the corner. Of course upping the difficulty will help make it less of a choice and more of a necessity - but even on the easier settings combat is something you SHOULD avoid, it's just people aren't. You see?
  16. I started one of those impromptu codec conversations, but after a few screens someone knocked on the door. Turned out to be a neighbour so after a brief exchange of words I went back to the PS3 only to find Snake and Otacon still in deep conversation, lol But I have an important question; I've pissed off the militia and they no longer like me! Is there any way to get back their respect? I can't just walk up to them anymore and I wasted two rations previously in helping them
  17. Video games: Causality vs correlation

It's a great advertisement for the book because much of the supporting theory isn't properly defined. I think we can all agree that this is something worth investigating but I won't be jumping on the bandwagon any time soon - I'm going to wait for some fair and balanced review that actually has some evidence. This guy was obviously convinced by the book into gurning on the internet, Noam Chomsky would be rolling in his grave if he wasn't still alive and kicking.
  18. That episode was my favourite so far The scene towards the end, omg, absolutely fupping hilarious! The cheek of the shows creators to throw in 'comedy' like that and pull it off, just amazing. The musical score was especially good too, but I've really got no idea how they are going to follow this episode, it's bound to disappoint. "Just one more episode before the mid-season break" - DanJW Oh, pants
  19. The Getaway series wasn't without its faults I admit, but they had their own charm and I enjoyed playing them. The realistic setting of London and that British flavour helps of course, so hopefully this doesn't spell the end completely! I know nothing about it but to say their involvement with the PS3 didn't influence my purchase would be lying. I'm looking forward to Little Big Planet which shouldn't be too long a wait and looks quite nice but the PS3 is definitely short on games. It's still early days but I always think they are two different types of market (360 vs PS3) so you'll know which you inherently prefer. I was just joking of course as there's always at least one Metal Gear detractor to spoil the party but to be serious I do agree with much of your criticism, I just find it doesn't prevent me from enjoying the game.
  20. So, this "GTA 4" thing then...

Check out this video and experience the pure awesomeness for yourself
  21. Planet Earth (BBC)

It's amazing in high definition but the programs content itself is jaw dropping enough. That little montage at the beginning showing just a taste of what they'll be covering was something special. Highly recommended - some of the stuff you see in these documentaries is scary though, really show off your ignorance or at least it did for me!
  22. That Lampkin guy rubs me the wrong way, just doesn't seem... human.
  23. That Monitor Thread

I have a Viewsonic VP930 (19") which I bought some years ago now and its been fine for computer use. It has vertical adjustment, tilt and can be rotated vertically for portrait mode. The viewing angles are basically anywhere and everywhere (!) I've not had a single problem with viewing it at different angles whereas the other cheaper LCD monitors we have in the house are notorious for it (just tilt your head for those, this Viewsonic requires you to leave the room ). I've not noticed any ghosting on any of the games I've played on it over the years either. ...but of course it's completely out of date now Regarding Apple monitors; they are overpriced (natch) but you can get a Dell version for a little less and supposedly they us the same panel - but even the Dell's are pricey in comparison to the often recommended Samsung variants (whose panels supposedly adorn Apples and Dells alike?). ...or not. I don't know. When it comes to things like this I just curl up into a little ball and throw my money in a random direction. Sometimes it works (VP930) sometimes it doesn't (a passing vagrant).
  24. Yeah, Lost is on a one week break as well. Don't understand it myself but that's American television schedules for you.
