Hehehe. Would you believe that what's up there is the third revision of my post, as I tried to make it more vague and less spoilery?
-
I don't think this counts as a spoiler, so I'll just point out to Zeus that there's more in the photo than he's noticing. One more object of... significance. Read this spoiler if you want a hint on what part of the photo to look at: Don't read this spoiler until you've solved the puzzle, Zeus.

I genuinely felt like applauding when I got to the last of Security_Tubbs' pictures. I really need to fire up this game and give it a go for myself!

Kim & Clint Hocking their Swiftboat down the Amazon
thorn replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
Strangely, whilst I had assumed it was being literal, one of the thoughts that went through my head while trying to parse it did turn out to be the correct one. Not sure what that says about me. Also, I've got a job interview with Amazon in a few weeks, so I think they're highly relevant and important. shutupshutupshutup -
Most of the puzzles you mention involve inventory items, and often things that can easily be missed as you walk past them. Have a thorough look around the various areas and make sure you've picked up everything.

Does anyone find that Threes kills the battery life? Even with the 'Conserve Battery' setting enabled, my (Android) phone gets super hot and dies faster than usual. Also, what does that setting actually change? I can't see anything different. Why would a slow-paced game without complex graphics or background processing use up so much power?
-
This. Very this. I find Threes a lot more interesting to play, plus it's dripping with charm.

Huh. Maybe that's why I was having difficulty with the puzzle. I should download ResidualVM and find where the hell my game disks are to test it.

I think we're stretching the definition of 'spoiler' here... How did that bug play out?
-
I always try to do that. Somehow it just never works without me fiddling around multiple times. It's the GrimeE engine's equivalent of pixel-hunting.
-
Warning: This is my least favourite puzzle in the game. It's fairly easy to work out what to do, but I always have to attempt it 5-10 times before getting it right.

What are some unusual things you've done to break your own addiction to a game?
thorn replied to cowuponacow's topic in Video Gaming
I was spending 30-60 minutes daily. But what really bothered me was that I felt I had to play it daily. And if I missed a day, I had to adjust my DS's clock to catch up. One day I was planning out my evening, listing out my tasks like "I've got to go to work, finish that bit of homework, read up my notes for class tomorrow... oh, and I have to play a bit of Animal Crossing". The moment I realised that it had become something I had to do, I knew I had to get rid of it. -

Nothing like that. But I did make a conscious effort to delete my Animal Crossing DS savegame and trade in the cartridge so that even if I got tempted to play it again, I couldn't. -
Thanks! I'd definitely heard parts of that, but not the bit that explains the whole frigging plot of the game.

Which line is that? The ResidualVM forum page is unavailable.

I love how everyone feels so strongly about Grim that they want to explain everything to Zeus so he gets the full experience. Speaking of which... He did it because the food poisoning wasn't officially allocated to individual agents. It was first-come, first-serve.

It's not anyone's guess though, as he told me that it was going to involve adult Guybrush. And a few other things too...

MI2:SE has the commentary tracks from Gilbert, Shafer and Grossman in which they discuss the ending. Turns out it wasn't even part of any grand, overarching plot; it was something Grossman suggested and Gilbert approved because he thought it was funny. Given that there was going to be an MI3 and it was going to involve Guybrush as a pirate [citation: I asked Gilbert when he was here for PAX-OZ] , it's fair to say that the ending of MI2 was only a voodoo curse.

Damn this stupid forum for not letting me use html tags, so I couldn't include the title text!

I'm like that too. I'd suggest getting ginger-based anti-nausea tablets. On me they are even more effective than the hard chemicals kind, don't make me woozy, and don't have any other side effect. Those pills got me through Bioshock and both Portal games.

Can someone explain to a non-podcast listener what this game is?
-
I'm terrible at FPSes and don't generally enjoy them, but I loved Bioshock for the reasons you think you might like it; the story and art. Stick to the psy-abilities and the wrench and you should be fine.

The "what the crap was that game called again?" thread
thorn replied to BadHat's topic in Video Gaming
I've got a somewhat obscure one to challenge the Thumbs. Can anyone remember an Apple II game in which you play the pilot of a flying craft (possibly a flying saucer, but I can't remember exactly) that crashes, who must then explore a landscape for the pieces of his ship so that he can reassemble it? Some pieces were simply lying on the ground and others required solving puzzles. My only clear memory of the landscape was that there was a river running through it left-to-right; you could ride a raft along it and fall down a waterfall at the end. -
Uhhh... so why did I just pay money if the videos are going to be public?
-
I'm lost. Where do I find the episodes? The Humble Bundle store page only shows the livestream. The Library page only has links to the demos from last year. Where should I be looking?
