Heh. Yeah, it's like that for me too. Pretty much any time I'm in an MSN conversation and don't have any other web browsing to do, Dice Wars is my default activity.
-
Huge success, yes. But it's only the nerds like you* who care about the fact that it was a success.*and me

I suppose my issue is the fact that he's the one who's telling us how anticipated his game is. Sure, there's a bunch of game nerds who certainly are looking forward to it, but most of the gaming public wouldn't even know he's working on a new game.

Clever, or pretentious? His blog post just came across as condescending to me.I really don't get the video. I have high expectations of the game. I loved Braid and, snarkiness aside, I think Blow has high standards for his own work. I just don't get where the fun comes in, given that I can get more interesting mazes with a Happy Meal. I'm sure there's more to it than just that, I'm just withholding my excitement for the time being.

OWI have been working on the PC version for a while, but it's another company doing that port. Stewart Gilray, the CEO of JAW, has made it clear they're not involved in the Oddbox (which is the name they've given to the Steam package of the two Abe games, Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath).

It's a remake of Stranger's Wrath for PS3. It looks to me to be simply a graphical upgrade and control rejig for Move. Possibly more, but time will tell on that. http://www.jawltd.com/?p=574

They've made a tactical error in not announcing this game and putting it up for preorder on the same day that The Devil's Playhouse's DVD shipping became available. For the last couple of game series' DVDs, they announced other stuff on the same day. That meant that I ended up getting close enough to the 'Free Postage' threshold that I spent a little more on other merchandise in the store. For instance, I bought The Devil's Playhouse in the same purchase as I ordered the DVD for ToMI and ended up upgrading to the pointless Deluxe Edition in order to get that free postage. I received a 20% discount voucher a little while ago, so I've been waiting for a few more things to come out before I buy Puzzle Agent.

So Deathspank has actually ended up as an episodic game? How odd.
-
They've certainly put in an effort to make it more game-y, with the item-search and point awarding stuff.
-
Yeah, the narration is pretty terrible. The whole thing - narration and direction in particular - just seems to be trying to make us go "Oh, this looks like Nightmare Before Christmas. It must be good then!" I'm not suggesting that the game itself is a rip-off. Just the trailer.

Thus far it seems like a really cool tech demo in search of a game. This is definately on the 'Wait And See' pile for me.

This is not the same concept as they showed with Kate. Milo doesn't respond to Dimitry at all. They seem to be only using the Kinect as a controller to do overtly gamey things like pick shit up and throw it. Not even the voice 'control' seems all that relevant; Milo doesn't actually respond to anything Dimitry says; you could probably say any shit and he'd cheer up if you used a happy tone of voice. Milo doesn't seem to be any more intelligent than my Creature was in Black and White.

Release date: February 9th. http://gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2010/08/18/portal-2-has-a-release-date.aspx

Completely ignoring the ongoing conversation and instead replying to the above post... I totally agree. I generally don't play FPSes and appreciated the fact that on easy mode I could mostly play with electroshock and wrench. Only occassionally did I have to pull out the weaponry; when facing a Big Daddy or one of the set-piece swarming splicer moments. That's why I was disappointed when I heard that Bioshock 2 was going to be all swarming and massed battles. I haven't even bothered playing it. And despite all that there is to like about Infinite, it seems like it's following on the same track.

Trademarks must be registered seperately for any country where you want to do business. I assume he's only gotten around to trolling the USA so far.
-
To the people talking about playing the demo: Was this only on the 360? I can't seem to find the demo on PSN.
-
It's not just that though... most people I know are more than happy to buy the game on PS3, but only if the PC version isn't happening. So if there will be no PC version, he's screwing up what could be impressive early sales numbers.
-
Yup, it's been confirmed that it will definately come out this year.
-
I wouldn't suggest buying them just yet as they're soon going to be releasing the Oddbox on Steam, which will have both Abe games, Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath. Also acheivements added in.
-
I think he's a smartarse who loves getting a reaction from people. Which is why I love him.
-
Can someone with Twitter let Ron know how many people are holding off from buying this game until he makes a statement either way about a PC port? Seems silly not to just tell everyone that it's definitively not going to happen.
-
Heh. I just read that article and hurried here to post it. Looks like you pipped me by 15 minutes
-
The thing that jumped out at me from that article is that at several points he uses the pluralised 'games' when referring to what he's working on now.
