I didn't see it as a cliff-hanger so much as a set-up towards a season of Puzzle Agent games with the gnomes as primary antagonists. I loved the UI, enjoyed (most of) the puzzles. I really, really didn't like the fact that I was continually told where to go and what order to do things; less linearity and more exploration would be nicer. What's more, perhaps I've just been conditioned by other games to expect that anything shown to me will be important eventually, but the town map made it look like the game would be five times longer than it actually was. I was looking forward to visiting all those places, but never had the chance. Also, once I finished the game, I loaded the last savegame (in the factory) and noticed in the file that there were a few puzzles I hadn't found. From that location, however, I wasn't able to go back and find them. Perhaps finishing the game should unlock the rest of the puzzles, or the player should be allowed to return to Scoggins in a sandbox to find anything s/he missed.

Have you ever played a game based on a franchise you don't really know?

Ditto. I was rather saddened when it was rereleased because I had paid a ridiculous sum of money on Ebay for a copy of the original print run. -
Yeah, but if I wait three months, the PC version will be $30 and the PS3 will still be $60.
-
It's a good idea, but will it work the other way? As in, I buy the game on Steam and then get a PS3 code.I doubt it.

GameInformer Article doesn't really have anything new and has some pics that don't look quite as good as I was hoping, but still better than I was expecting. What the heck is the point of doing interviews months and months before a game is released and before any concrete design decisions have been made?

Yeah, there were quite a few improvements in Exoddus over Oddysee. For one thing, there was a quicksave system rather than sparsely located savepoints. For another, you could get multiple Mudokons to follow you, rather than just one at a time like in the previous game. Also, as you say, the puzzles were more varied because there were more species you could possess. But it's the quicksaving that really makes the biggest difference in terms of difficulty.

Whoops... totally missed that post. Thanks, you're a lifesaver.I killed Madame Primp before I realised there was an acheivement for seeing all of her costumes. Does anyone know whether I need to play a new game fully until I reach Strumfuquel, or are there cheats that will help me skip forward?

Oh dear. I've suddenly started having that too. I hope there's nothing wrong with the Steam Cloud servers.

Has anyone else had an issue in the PC version of unresponsive buttons? In the main menu, the Acheivements and DLC buttons give a clicky sound but no other response. In the Quest page, the up and down arrow buttons do nothing. Hothead support say they can't reproduce it so I'm on my own. This has happened in both Deathspank and ToV. I also had a bug yesterday where only one of the the Altars near the nun had its attendant near it. Thankfully, quitting and restarting fixed it.

Ah. I've never watched a Giant Bomb video before. I doubt I will again, as I found those guys really annoying. Still, the gameplay looks like it will be fun and the visual style is fantastic.

How can a video that's almost 30 minutes long possibly count as a 'Quick Look'?

I can't be fucked going off and finding the full quote now, but apparently the menus were developed in some sort of console-based Flash and any minor change they made pretty much broke everything, so they were restricted to minor tweaks there. Also what Grufff said. Also, if you have an ATI graphics card, try this: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1671970

Munch update has already been submitted to Steam and might be available for download already. The bug in Stranger has been identified and they're working on fixing it soon. There are various other non-game breaking quibbles that people have had (mainly to do with inflexible graphics options and non-assignable controls, both of which related to them being console ports done by people not used to PC gaming) and JAW has promised to fix them in the new year.

Yeah, this is what I did. I had one set of a normal weapon and a purple-glowy weapon and the second set had the crossbow and an elemental weapon that was relevant to what I was currently fighting (which I only really ended up using when I was fighting ghosts, as I could never work out what other enemies were vulnerable to)

Do you have to have played Costume Quest to appreciate this podcast?
-
I'd suggest holding off from downloading for a few days as it seems they're both a little buggy atm.

The JAW (the team that did the Stranger port) twitter feed has been fielding complaints all day. They're suggesting making sure that your graphics drivers are up to date and are promising a patch soon. They are accepting bug reports and are doing a pretty good job of keeping people in the loop. There's a couple of bugs in Munch's Oddysee but no-one is sure what the story is there as it was a different company that did that port. Oh, and more ontopic: If you didn't know, all Oddworld games are 50% off today and then 25% off until the 3rd of January.
-
Nothing new. Still coming out Easter-ish and only on the PS3.
-
Available from Monday for $25 but with 50% discount on the first day and 25% discount after that until the 3rd of Jan. Hurrah. http://www.oddworld.com/?p=292

Oh, I meant gifting them before buying the new package.
-
What about gifting my existing copy? It's not a Valve pack, btw. It's the upcoming Oddworld Oddboxx.
-
Question: If I buy a game pack on Steam that contains games that I already bought individually, can I either gift the new copies or transfer ownership of my original copies before buying the new ones? This has implications on whether I can contribute to this thread.
-
Oh, I wasn't. It was just that I wasn't sure when I picked up the game whether I'd enjoy it or not. That's why I didn't preorder ToV when it was 20% off - I wanted to get to the end of the first one and see how it went.
