That's wierd. I never received the email about it. And the website still says "Get the Collector's DVD after the season ends" rather than just "Get the DVD now!".
-
So, it's been almost 10 months. Is there a reason why the DVD isn't available yet?
-
I have none at all. Does anyone know if there's an official way to gift a game, or should I just send Orvidos the serial number?
-
Just pre-ordered Puzzle Agent 2, which gives me a free copy of #1. Given that I was gifted the first game by brkl, it seems only fair to pay it forward and offer the extra copy to anyone here who hasn't played it yet. Who wantsee?
-
All I could think was "I'd love to play this on a smartphone with accelerometer control". But it looks pretty good anyway.
-
You do realise that that's exactly what they said in their first announcement about the issue? Word for word, in fact. The only difference is that now they're emphasising it in its own FAQ, rather than in the middle of a paragraph that everyone just skims over because they're too angry to actually bother to understand anything.

Even if that is true, which I doubt, that doesn't mean that the hackers have his credit card details. It would just mean that they have access to his PSN account and have bought items on his behalf from Sony. They wouldn't need his credit card for that.
-
Telltale need to fire their PR department. They've been sizzling Jurassic Park since before they'd even determined the game mechanics, and this game gets no play until after it's been released? Madness! By which I mean to say; this looks amusing and I believe I will be purchasing it.
-
Of course that's true. But it's impossible to build a completely unhackable system. Any system on the internet - any system - can be hacked, with enough skill and resources. You just have to expect a company to build a system that's secure against 99.9999% of hackers in the world and hope that the 0.0001% of hackers don't turn their attention that way. Note: Your expectation of the number of '9' decimal places may differ from mine, but it doesn't change the point that there's no such thing as an unhackable system. For the record, people are probably overthinking things when discussing admin accounts or whether 77 million accounts were individually hacked. Probably they got server access and simply downloaded a copy of the database.

I'm not going to cancel my credit card until more is known. For one thing, my bank will refund me if anything is purchased fraudulently. For another, unless Sony are absolute dipshits, they'll have encrypted the credit details. I don't know about other countries, but it's law in Australia that computer systems must have CC details encrypted so that not even admin users can view them. In general, they'll be encrypted with the bank (or credit card service)'s public key when the user first submits it and after that, Sony would only need to send the encrypted version to the bank/service when a transaction is performed.
-
My gut feeling is that this was a hack done for profit, not to prove a point, which would probably take Anonymous out of the picture. And if it was done for profit, then it's probably a sophisticated enough hack that Sony couldn't reasonably be expected to have prevented it.

Has Puzzle Agent 2 been officially announced? What about a release date?
-
Ohhhh... I have the in-game steam overlay turned off Are you restarting the song rather than loading it from the main menu? That's the only time that has happened for me.
-
Maybe I'm clueless, but how do I know if I've earned a potato? I've acheived Gold a few times but nothing happened.
-
I've gotten Gold on both the easy and medium settings but potatoes were non-existent. Possibly I need to earn Gold before the end of the level and not including bonuses.
-
As of posting time, we appear to be 16 hours ahead of schedule. Not sure how they're calculating it though: http://www.gamingmasters.co.uk/portal/

Apparently sitting idle isn't enough. I read somewhere that they're actually making sure the games are being played. That might just be a myth though; I can't think of how they'd do it. Does anyone have the Potato in Audiosurf? The websites I've seen say that you just need to get gold on the song that GlaDOS infected our computers with, but I've done that and received nothing. EDIT: The slider for The Wonderful End of the World has turned blue and is marked 'COMPUTATIONS COMPLETE'. Any idea how they judge that?

I find this one amazing. Apparently there was some white noise inserted in to the unofficail Steamcast podcast which, when opened in a wave viewer, look like this:

I thought accessibility meant that the game was capable of being played by people with physicial disabilities. Depending on the person, that might have something to do with flexible controls or enough redundancy in the audio/visual feedback for them to be able to cope. One amazing story is the blind guy who completed the Oddworld Abe games.
-
Yeah, this is pretty much how I felt. Except that I predicted that I'd hit the skill wall and gave up in advance. It's fun, though, and definately worth a look. Also, I initially thought that I was playing a training mode seperate to the story mode. Turns out that I was actually playing the story mode, but it's possible to completely ignore the story aspects and just play it as a puzzle game. Whilst this is a good thing, it makes me wonder why the hell they bothered writing the story at all.

EDIT: Damn this website's embedded-flash restriction policies. Follow this link to see the video: http://www.g4tv.com/videos/51653/trenched-first-look-preview/ So it's more of a Tower Defence game with shooting aspects? Starting to sound a little more interesting.

Leaving aside the evil thing (which I don't disagree with), if you were write in to the OED and politely ask them to change the term to 'Social Network-Based Game', his argument (and your point in the sentence quoted) would be moot. He's arguing about definitions and nothing more.
-
He (or possibly the writer of the article) are doing nothing more than splitting hairs over terminology. 'Social' Games Are "Not Very Social", but games like WoW that are social, actually are 'Social'. Sigh.
-
Are they trying to start a trend of "dumb" adventure game heroes?

It's been a good long while since I played the game, but from memory your description sums him up pretty well from there too. -
Am I a crazyperson for wanting to actually play the game before deciding whether I want to buy merch?
