  1. I owned the Water Temple today without any help whatsoever which I was pretty proud of. I loved the way the whole thing was centred around that one room. Nice design. Right now though, I seem to be hitting a brick wall, the game isn't really telling me what to do next...
  2. Electronic Arts: the positive thread

I've recently been kind of getting into American Football (I'm English so it's not the easiest thing in the world with people immediately going "Oh, it's just a dumb version of Rugby. Shut up, shut up, SHUT UP!) so I'm kind of interested in getting Madden for the Wii when I eventually get one, especially since I've never played one before so I can overlook the glaring similarities to previous versions. It seems to have got pretty good reviews too...
  3. DS Games

I just saw that Portrait of Ruin, Mario Vs DK 2, Phoenix Wright 2, Raving Rabbids and Chronos Twins are all being released in March. Damn my money saving
  4. Does the Wii nead *real games* ?

And speaking of Mario, does anyone know if there's a new Mario Kart coming to the Wii?
  5. Let's Talk About Rayman Again

    Dear God they're everywhere...
  6. Play by Email games

I've never even heard of them but I'm pretty intrigued as to how they work. Do you just send in orders for other people to do or what?
  7. Does the Wii nead *real games* ?

I think the Wii needs a healthy mix of both "real" games and "party" games. I don't own a Wii so I can't comment fully but it seems to me that the whole minigame after minigame formula is already starting to grow tired despite the innovations of the Wiimote. That leaves me to wonder how many more party games are really left in the Wii, bearing in mind that the average life span for a console is 7 years. So because of this, it kind of needs some more real games on it which will undoubtedly come into its own once Mario and Metroid come to the scene as someone before me said. As for competing with other consoles, bear in mind that the Wii reaches out to those not so up to speed on gaming and so, obviously not wanting to spend loads of money on buying more than one console, they will choose just the one, in this case, the Wii. Those people then would not be buying the same games again but buying the "real" games to try on their first system.
  8. I just came across the twisty tunnel today and this is the first dundeon I've got stuck in. Stupid locked doors
  9. You know, regarding the title I'm kind of worried about what I'm gonna put if I ever write about Majora's Mask. "Majora's Ass" doesn't really work...
  10. I've been whiling away at it in silence for a couple of days now but it's time for a progress update... So the man with the big nose told me to talk to the hand and it seems my body was locked away for seven years because I was too young to deal with it (uhh... what? Link looks about 14 now, it makes that much of a difference?) and so everything's gone to crap over those years I've been away. A little silly, but I get it. Just as I was starting to enjoy the boomerang too... Anyway, I made my way to the Forest Temple today and I suddenly realise why whenever anyone raves about Zelda they talk about the atmosphere. The mood of that place is brilliant. I was playing it at 2:30 in the afternoon, some big skeleton guys burst out the ground and I jumped. It was bright light and I was so engrossed in it I actually jumped back. That's pretty impressive. So right now I feel that for everything anyone has said about the graphics of this game they are made insignificant to the amount of atmosphere those graphics can create.
  11. How do you rez characters in FFIII?

Yeah there are 2 kinds of pools, one where it says "Your blah and whatever have been restored" and the other one says "Nothing Happened". The second one's the one you want
  12. All I can say now is that any game where I can fly by grabbing a chicken against its will is absolutely inspired Having said that, the graphics became a bit of an issue today in that I had no idea where the guards of the castle were looking in order to get passed them. I managed it in the end though (even if I did spend most of that time trying to get past the big rock in the dead end ) I also got some batteries for my Rumble Pack today. Let the good times... vibrate?
  13. Ok, I've now made it through the big talking tree (who promptly died) and I've now become quite acquainted with the graphics and the music is becoming less and less noticeable (which is a good thing) though I still seem to crack up every time something bleeps. I guess it's some kind of homage to the previous games but it seems so ridiculously out of place it's just funny. So all in all I'm still enjoying it. I did find the end of the tree dungeon pretty annoying though. I spend ages groping around in that dark room for a door or something to climb of some kind of trigger or whatever when all I had to do was look up
  14. Oh come on, this is my first worthwhile contribution to this forum. You've gotta let me this one at least
  15. All the Zelda Games?! More like MODERATED FTW

Well I'm sold. Now I just have to sit and wait for it to arrive
  16. All the Zelda Games?! More like MODERATED FTW

Just one quick question. When I get one from ebay, does it really matter if I get the instructions with it? There seems to be quite a big price difference
  17. All the Zelda Games?! More like MODERATED FTW

All this talk of Zelda has got me intrigued and so, despite clearly being warned against it all the way through this thread, I've decided to pick up a copy of Ocarina of Time from eBay. Good work people I'll report back with my findings like I'm sure you care
  18. Metroid Prime

Ooo mixed reviews... anyone else want to throw in their two cents?
  19. Metroid Prime

Do you guys recommend the DS version of this? I've never played one so I don't know what to expect but I'm kind of after something... "different"
  20. Sixaxis controller wins emmy... what?

Ooo I stand corrected. It's a good job Sony thought up the idea in the first place then
  21. Dante Padre sounds suspiciously like Dan Petit. Coincidence or conspiracy? YOU decide!
  22. Sixaxis controller wins emmy... what?

People are dumb Didn't the GBA have tilt sensors? I seem to remember a Yoshi game which used them
  23. Navarro lashes out

I know for a fact I've intentionally bought films from IMDb's Worst 100 list (Theodore Rex being a particularly proud part of my collection) so being labelled the worst video games might actually boost their sales.
  24. Yeah I know how you feel. Just as my brother and I were deciding to put some money aside to go halves on one sometime next year my Dad told us (without prompting, mind) that he wouldn't mind getting one when the buzz dies down. The very last person I would expect to say that. Score!
