I really like the trailer. It's intriguing and teasing. Not sure how I feel about going back to Liberty City though. I never finished GTA III and never had the capabilities to play LCS so I'm not sure how I feel with that city.

Sounds pretty frustrating but it also sounds like one of those things that sounds worse on paper so it's not discouraging me...

You're all saying about Save Points and I don't really understand. In Ocarina you could save anywhere, couldn't you? Why is that not the case in this one?

With the European launch yesterday, Sony announced its updated backwards compatibility list. I don't mean to bash Sony any more than has already occurred but the list seems somewhat puzzling to me. Having never owned a PS2 a lot of the older games that I might want to try for the first time on the new console aren't supported or, at best, run with "noticeable issues". For example, all the Final Fantasy games seem to have troubles (including FF12 which is pretty bizarre) and Guitar Hero just doesn't work. Having said that there are tonnes of games that are supported but none which i really care too much about which is a shame. Poor Europe.

I'm clearly losing the battle here so I won't labour the point any longer but I just think that the console developers (and I mean all of them, not just Sony although Nintendo kind of got round it in this generation) underestimate the importance of backwards compatibility for the people who either missed out on the games/consoles of last generation or can't afford to keep more than one console or have them cluttering up the house without having to take them out and put them back in storage everytime you want to try something out. You know, the casual gamers

Ok that's fair enough but it still just seems strange to me that they wouldn't put in that extra effort to try and make their most popular back catalogue/ newer games work straight away

On an oddly related note... Gamespot

That's pretty cool. I think overall I enjoyed the game, just my enthusiasm kind of ran out of steam towards the very end

That could just be some kind of promotional art. Does look cool though

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes? More like...a decent game.

I haven't played any of the previous ones (I don't own a Gamecube) so I don't really know what to expect. I guess it goes onto my ever-increasing "to buy" list. *sigh* -
I went to Wikipedia to try and find out just how much the CD-Roms held(as you no doubt also did) but to no avail. I did however, see this interesting little point: "As price drops continued throughout the 32-bit era, the system board design of the Saturn was not as easy to condense in a cost-saving manner, and Sega fell behind after price drops offered by Nintendo and Sony. This forced Sega to "bundle" more software with the system in an attempt to make the more expensive Saturn compete with its rivals. Although the quality of the bundled software was high, gamers preferred to purchase a cheaper system from the competition and purchase game titles of their own choice instead." Remind you of anyone...? Oh, and the Dreamcast GD-Roms held 1.2GB so... under that I guess

With both MegaDrive and N64 games on the VC, I'm sure Saturn games must have at least crossed their collective minds. Are the games really that big that they'd warrant an external hard drive though?

Mario Kart is superb on its own. The addition of the missions to this edition (see what I did there?) make it excellent for single player and, while I haven't got the WiFi working in my own house yet, it's great fun round my girlfriend's... Also, you can play multiplayer off single cart but it is much better with more than one. Other than that I'd suggest New Super Mario Brothers. Not really much of a stylus game but outstanding nonetheless Oh, and you can't go wrong with Brain Training

I still haven't bought Hunters for the DS. Is it worth the money? -
The Ocarina Of Time -- My Struggle by SJJW Esq. So as I earlier threatened, I went and bought Ocarina of Time and today, it arrived! So here we go with a running commentary on my thoughts of the game... So far in day one, I don't feel I've gotten very far. I found the whole of the first area incredibly disorientating and frequently and ever so frustratingly found myself in exactly the same place I had just been getting away from. Having said that however, it was pretty fun to explore and throw rocks around and all that and I eventually discovered the sword (despite the fact it was in an area just after loads of signs telling you how to use the sword. Incredibly illogical) and, thanks to what I had read in the other thread, bought the shield which would have taken me a while if I didn't already know. I then found the tree and yada yada, I'm pleased at the amount of hearts there are around and the simple fact that if you just wait for things to grow then you can get full health in no time. So anyway, I got the slingshot which is surprisingly easy to use, made my way through the web and... my dog stood on the reset button. That's right people, my dog stood on the reset button. Luckily I'd saved it just when I got the shield (by accident...) so I haven't too much to do to get back but still. I haven't played it since. I really want to comment on the graphics and the sound but it's kind of difficult to do so while taking into account the limitations of dated technology. The music cues, despite being made up of very obvious MIDI sounds, works well with the overlapping sound working well with what's happening on screen. As for the graphic style, everyone kind of looks a bit dumpy and more cartoony than I expected, having said that though the backgrounds and rooms and at quite a high standard and the things you can interact with, like rocks and grass, don't stick out so I suppose that's all good too. Oh also, I LOVE the little buttons at the top helping you out but why does everyone in Link's village keep laughing? Anyway, that's it for Day One

Ocarina of Time? More like Cock Arena of Slime... spoilers

The other day (Wednesday?) I beat Ganondorf, the tower started collapsing and to no one's surprise he turned into his "true form". Now, I know exactly how I'm supposed to beat him (in fairness it's not that hard to figure out) but I just really can't be bothered to do it. I'll probably do it sometime soon but at the moment I just keep running out of magic and I have to let him kill me to save time. Shame really, I was getting into it -
Yeah I'd go with that, except for me of course... Being English (or British or whatever it is now) I find it hard to say I hate all British/English people but, well... where I live isn't exactly known for its glamour

Which happened right near where I live (Though please understand I don't live there. Those people are scum of the Earth)

To quote some guy from the comments of that page: I think that summed it up quite nicely

Sony's latest accomplishment for Europe - PS2 game support to be "limited"
BooJaka replied to Kolzig's topic in Video Gaming
Over 1000 PS/PS2 titles will still be able to run on the PS3 apparently. What are the odds that the one you want to play isn't supported? -
I had a Donatello puppet, does that count? Also, his weapon was always the best. It was basically just a stick. Kind of like he really didn't need a weapon to fight Shredder but he also didn't want to be left out
-
Donatello was always the best

Wow. A £50 PS2... sounds very tempting. Maybe if I had a need for another DVD player and I had enough time and money to play the Final Fantasy games on it then I'd go for it. It might even be worth something as a trade-in for those wanting PS3s too...

Heh. The PSP is the past? Well I'll be damned...
