  1. Classic Controller replicas for Wii

TOTALLY agree. Although you should add: Xbox360 > GC > Xbox > PS2 (I don't have a 360, but daaammnnn that controller is nice when I've used it)
  2. Classic Controller replicas for Wii

Yeah, it's basically saying you have to buy Wii-enabled versions of the controllers. I still think they should do my wireless hub idea, which is basically the same thing, but you can use the *real* controllers.
  3. On the word Gamer...

I don't mind the term at all, I'd proudly call myself a gamer, if, you know, I talked to people. To me it just means, "one who plays video games," and that's all. If other people want to read way into it, that's their issue. I yo-yo, so I'm a yo-yoer, I juggle, so I'm a juggler, etc. It's just a short word to get a point across (skater, biker, cyclist, cook, actor, etc.). *shrug* I don't see what the big deal is. With that said, if you listen to GameSpot's podcast, The Hotspot, they've talked about how much they hate the word many times. The subtitle under my name ("Core Gamer Demo" [as in demographic]) is kind of a general joke about that, how the companies have turned it into a marketing term.
  4. Fake GBA cartridges, argh!

Has this happened to any of you? I don't normally buy GBA games on ebay, but I have been lately. Gotta be careful now.... http://crackedrabbitgaming.com/2006/06/03/a-counterfeit-gba-ring-operating-out-of-my-car-hole-er-ebay/
  5. Fake GBA cartridges, argh!

    Haha, nice.
  6. Okay fine. That would be Mikhail Bulgakov! Hah! Tommy = 1, miffy = 0. *puts strategy guide away*
  7. Sonic Rivals Gameplay Trailer

NiGHTS rules. But the camera in that is good, and the whole thing makes sense. Viewtiful Joe, also awesome...but the camera didn't really move in 3D as far as I can remember, or not much.
  8. What DS games to buy

Yeah, FTM is great (don't have RR yet), although it's kind of short, and not a ton of replay value. After I beat it I didn't really feel like doing it again on hard, or getting ten stars on everything. Actually, if they had changed the "star" thing so you don't have to start at the beginning (first star) each time, I'd probably be more into it. FTM gets extra points for having a NiGHTS unlockable hat! (it's pointless though)
  9. Sonic Rush

I got through the first act easily with Sonic, but I hate the second (underwater)! So I switched to Blaze, and now I'm on the last boss, haven't beaten it yet though. You just have to learn to go slower at certain parts, and remember things. Blaze's hover ability is really cool, it can save you, so remember to use it.
  10. Fake GBA cartridges, argh!

Yeah, although in my case the seller was legit, he just got burned first, so there really wasn't a way for me to know. If I'm ever unsure I'll definitely contact them first from now on.
  11. Fake GBA cartridges, argh!

Yeah, I know it's nothing new, just the first time it happened to me. I found it really odd that the label is different too, but of course the auction used a stock photo.
  12. Sonic Rivals Gameplay Trailer

Okay seriously, was anyone even *playing* in that video, or did they just tape the analog stick to the right?! That didn't look very fast, very fun, or very interesting...I hope the other levels are better. I don't have a PSP anyway, so, whatever. And I have Sonic Rush.
  13. What DS games to buy

MKDS is absolutely amazing in every way. Nice to meet you. Although to be fair, I've only played the GCN version. I didn't like it because it's mostly just "work"--digging stuff up, swapping items with people, etc. The "cool" part is that different things happen on certain days at certain times, like fireworks for instance. The stupid thing is that they're basically all just *reflections* in the pond...you can't actually even look at the sky! So I was really disappointed. Again, that was the GCN version, maybe the top screen shows cool stuff on the DS. I also don't play the Sims, again because it's mostly work and just customizing. So YMMV, obviously a lot of other people like those games. If you have any interest at all in music games, you NEED to get "Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan" (import)! It's probably my favorite DS game...and I have many. You can hear the original music here, or see gameplay videos on YouTube, such as this one: You can also just wait for the US version to be released ("Elite Beat Agents"), but it has all new music so there's no reason to not get both. Kirby Canvas Curse is pretty fun, another good example of why the touch screen is so cool.
  14. So you've beaten Shanghai Honey? That was the one that gave me the most trouble. Insane wasn't too hard, but the Cleopatra one slowed me down I think, and S.H. always destroyed me at the end! It was just so fast and random that it was really hard to learn or sight-read, and because it was at the end you had to play through the whole level just to fail! It literally was the last FIVE seconds of the song that killed me. RSG wasn't nearly as hard. Yes! That's one of my favorites, and that's even what inspired me to create that page of links. I found OtD on YouTube sort of by chance, and looked for the rest after that.
  15. Gameboy games

Metroid was good, but every time I played it I got stuck in the same spot and had no idea where I was going, so I never finished it. I'm really loving Fusion's map/nav rooms.
  16. I know, it's weird how when you're playing along, you really get more out of the music. Same with DDR, there are songs where I've listened to them separately and they were kind of bland, but jumping to the rhythm sort of enhances it. It's hard to explain. There are some songs that I really hate listening to, but dancing/playing to them is actually fun. As for MM, that video is just insaaaaane. The first time I saw it I felt like my eyes got punched in the face fifty times. And I know that makes no sense.
  17. My First Review (Gibbage related ¬¬)

    Congrats!
  18. Game and watch DS mods

    Awesome!
  19. Gamelife Episode 3: somehow it still lives

I totally called that! The very first time I saw an episode (#2), I figured it went down like that... Dad: "Hey kids, you guys need a hobby!" Andrew: "No...dad we...just like playing...VIDEO-games." Dad: "Well then why don't you make a little show about it! You can borrow my camera and I can edit it for you!" Andrew: "Fine...DAD...I can be...the HOSTandAlexcan...uhhhh...be ummmmm...THE co-host!" *points at Alex* Geoff: "Bllaaaaaarrrrrggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Waaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!"
  20. Guitar Hero editor type thing

Actually, there are many Beatmania emulators, and people make simfiles for them. They actually take out the notes the best they can, eliminating as much background noise as possible, etc. So they do actually play individual notes. Not as good as the real thing of course, but not too bad. Anything is better than nothing, though.
  21. Another GameLife Thread...

I would like to mirror what Duncan said.
  22. possibly interesting e3 games

Oh man, they're packed. They both have basically the same mini-games I think, just done slightly differently: Monkey Golf, Monkey Fight, Target, Billiards, Bowling, Race.... They're well done, too, not just some quick dumb stage. Golf has a full set of holes to play, and maybe more than one course, I can't remember. Target is the best though--you roll down a hill, launch off a ramp, hit the button to open your ball into "wings," then try to land on this target. Getting to do all these mini-games with the wii controller will rock.
