Be fair. It was in brackets, plus the word 'Uwe' wasn't in that sentence. Seriously, though. What he said was a crass insult to the horror movie genre.

I get what you're saying about the unfinished state, although I think it had more to do with short-sightedness than laziness. I'd really enjoyed the working with the secondary character to make progress, and when Pey'j returned I was rubbing my hands together with glee at the prospect of some puzzles with a layer or two more of added complexity. Set myself up for disapointment there. Otherwise, it was an excellent game.

LucasArts has absolutely no power over the new Sam and Max. As for old LA titles on Virtual Console, there's no real reason Nintendo and LA couldn't make a deal about that. Probably depends on how much LA would want for those rights. It's just they've been downright hostile to the idea in the past.

You're not telling me this is news to you? Anyway, since we're talking about Sam and Max, what does everyone think about possibilities of S&M on Wii? According to Telltale they have been recently contacted by Nintendo following a heap of fan requests. I find this quite exciting, not just for S&M, but also for the possibilities this could open up for the Virtual Console. Only snag: Will LucasArts let them use their old properties? Depressingly, I find that doubtful.

Is anyone else disappointed that it's in English and not Japanese?

I found myself grunting in sympathy to what he said about the sacrifice of longevity in favour of replay value.

I made a 2nd attempt at the Free Play last night. I managed to obtain all but one of the canisters. So near and yet so far.

The sense of humour is all present and correct too. There's a mischevious pleasure in using the force to turn a stormtroopers helmet around. It's also good that the effects of the force seem to be unique to each force user. Granted, we only see it in Kenobi and the Emperor, but I wouldn't be surprised if we'd get to see Vader's choke-hold.

Can someone help me understand something about that thing? It's only available in Japan, right? So does that mean it only works in Japan? I mean, is there some nation-wide Japanese service the device hooks up to or does it just need any broadband connection?

So I clicked on the link on the Thmb Finger just now, only to be met with the hated message telling me the site has been barred under company policy. Great! Now, I'm unable to access Tim Schafer's wit and wisdom during my breaks! In a way, I suppose I should be happy that enough people are accessing it to warrant this!
-
Er...Where eas that link supposed to go?
-
Heh! Since Dominic Armato did that article on Thumbs a while back, I couldn't help thinking about the MI tune on Guitar Hero!

I'm not opposed to subtitles. I can't watch most episodes of House without turning the subtitles on, although that's more for the medical jargon than the accents. But that's just the point, viewers have an option to turn on subtitles if they need it! Why irritate people with mandatory ones?
-
Do you mean that you find the Scots accent hilarious or that, like me, you find it hilarious that certain people cannot penetrate the Scots accent? I remember when Sweet Sixteen was broadcast on TV. We were affronted that they'd included subtitles! I loved the reviews of Sensible Soccer and the poker games, which is saying something, as I'm interested in neither football or poker. And that bit about garroting people because they were ass-holes! I tell you, the local McDonalds would be out of business in a week!

Solved the Bittorent problem in a really weird way. Right-clicked, Save as - it saved it as a .avi file - right click on the file, Open with..., Azureus. It seems to be working now, though I should check when I get home.
-
Is there something wrong with the bittorrent? I just got this page full of weird symbols.

I'm not sure what you've described above is exclusive to video games, though admittedly it is probably more prevalent on that medium. I don't think it matters what 'type' of character is used, as long as it is a reasonably developed character with a decent plot, like The Longest Journey. As you say, they're not all that common. Anyway, two good anti-heroes I can think of are Kain and Raziel from the Legacy of Kain series.

OK, scratch the Lucasarts conspiracy. I've just checked Ron Gilbert's site and I can access that fine.
-
No, and no.

I don't believe it! They've only gone and restricted the Telltale Games blog as well! Is there some sort of conspiracy against former Lucasarts employees?

Anyone else catch the David Attenborough programme last night? In general, it didn't tell me much I wasn't already aware of, but I was surprised at some of the details of the energy we use. After it had finished I turned my TV off, which I always do anyway, but I also unplugged the power cable from the speakers and everything else that didn't have an off switch. While they were discussing windfarms I happened to glance out the window and noticed half a dozen or so lamp posts, and a really crazy idea occurred to me. There'd obviously be a lot of practical and safety issues, but I can't see any reason it couldn't work. The bit about overseas shipping presents an interesting dilemna. Do we buy locally and ignore third world produce, or do we buy FairTrade at the expense of the climate?

I take it your not a House fan? Anyway, the BBC has got this on their website. Enjoy.

Pity Ninty and Sony aren't teaming up. I would have fancied the ability to use a Wii controller as drumsticks to complement Guitar Hero.

Ico has a co-op mode, after you play it once, where one player controls Ico and another controls Yorda. And you might be able to get some of the classic side-scrolling beat-em-ups on Wii.

My query was born of ignorance. Still, good to know for future reference.
