PS3 to "KILL PC" also: it's not expensive enough.
Lazarou replied to General Fuzzy McBitty's topic in Video Gaming
Not to mention sell you all the special-edition movies you bought on dvd all over again. But look, they're all sharp and sparkly, so I guess that's okay then Personally, I just don't think the market's ready for hd media anyway. Won't stop them from trying to force the issue though, but that doesn't necessarily mean it'll take hold anywhere outside of the more anal-retentive techie crowd. SACD or dvd-audio anyone? -
Ooh, I'm just moving towards the end of case three now, so it's been bastardly edgeworth so far for the most part. I'm just savouring every moment of this one and taking my time, as it's one of the best games I've played in years. Look forward to seeing how it all pans out.

There's DS goodness whichever way you turn Also, DAMN YOU EDGEWORTH! Sorry, it's a reflex these days

Well, more of an Irish show really, being written and performed by an almost entirely Irish cast and crew. [/national pride] And yeah, it's absolutely wonderful, I'd recommend it to anyone. The funniest part is, despite the insanely oddball characters, it's still very on the mark with regard to the national character, especially out in the sticks like where I am. Yes, I've really met people who get Mrs Doyle-level offended if you refuse a cup of tea.
-
Well, there's one out yet, at any rate... Still, should be interesting to see how these turn out, for sure
-
200 grand for a machinima trailer? That's generous of 'em
-
Just like the 'official' mags then And for the love of all that's good and pure, STOP ENCOURAGING THESE PEOPLE!
-
Yes. Because we fear change

I'm just an occasional reader of Edge, PC Gamer, Total Film, Empire, Q and NME here, although the new Official Nintendo mag's not too bad at all either (so far). Recently picked up a copy of OXM to see if it's really as heart-stoppingly awful as everyone says, and amazingly it's even worse, even great writers like Gary "UK:R" Cutlack can't save it. As a whole, games mags these days are just so utterly fucking useless I rarely bother reading them anymore.
-
Couldn't really be bothered splitting these into active and cancelled shows, but here's a few of my alltime faves as of now: Invader Zim Father Ted Battlestar Galactica Rome Urusei Yatsura Samurai Pizza Cats Buffy (fuck off, it's great ) Firefly Family Guy Animaniacs The Day Today/Brass Eye Spaced Quality stuff all

Didn't consolevania do this gag already?

Lovely though it may be, there's no way my poor student budget'll stretch to a slightly cuter version of something I already have. So it's a black casemod and phoenix wright for me, the lil' fella can wait a while

Thanks for the tip, sounds like it could be worth another shot. MGS2 put me off the series completely, but this sounds more like it . I'll give it a try anyway.

I hate Metal Gear It's just my opinion though of course, and should be taken as that. You're perfectly entitled to prove me wrong, I like a good argument anyway. There's a decent game in there somewhere, it's just with the hours and hours of cutscenes it can be hard to find it, and whoever thought spending a good chunk of the game staring at intercom screens would be a good way to spend the player's time should be lined up and shot against the nearest available wall. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed the original Metal Gear Solid despite its faults, and was fairly impressed getting into the first level or so or the sequel. But after that it started to go downhill pretty quickly for me, and I just couldn't get any enjoyment out of it anymore. It wasn't a Matrix Reloaded level of sheer "what have you DONE?" proportions, but it was pretty close. It just annoys me that PS mags rave about it like it's the second coming of gameplay, when really I think it's nothing all that special. I guess I tend to make my arguments against it stronger to balance out the people raving about it. It just pisses me off when games seem to exist as a means of delivering cutscenes, rather than the cinematics existing to enhance the gameplay. FFX was guilty of this too, as well as a few others.

Well, if that's the debate, then I nominate EverQuest for "first to the wall" status. I've never played a more unintuitive, mindlessly addictive (not to be confused with actually being enjoyable) waste of time, ever. I'm just glad I got a chance to try it free on a coverdisc instead of adding insult to injury and actually paying box price plus a monthly fee. Take everything that's bad about online games, wrap it up in beards and improbably-armoured breasts, and you have EQ.

Isn't there something against this shit in the game's EULA? IF not, there fuckin' should be. Gahhhhhh... One of the better things about Guild Wars is how little your funds actually matter after the first couple week's play. Coupled with the low, easily-reachable level cap and custom, unsellable expensive items like armour, the community manages to largely avoid endlessly infuriating services like this. And thanks to the "instanced" nature of the game, you do manage to take part in a central story arc, fighting with your chosen mates against the major enemies, along with the main character NPCs and the like, something which games like WoW can't do by nature of their design. But then if you want to be pedantic, GW isnt really a MMORPG anyway, but it does offer a cohesive story above most of the crowd. Urk, Im beginning to sound like almost as bad a sales rep as that guy...

Hmm, good point. I wouldn't have had a notion what Psychonauts was about if I hadn't stumbled across this place. And even then I had to have a bash on the demo to get an idea of what it played like. I knew it was going to be a laugh and well worth playing, I just didn't know what it was exactly. Even then it's hard to define the thing. Advertising on the Tim Schafer name probably wasn't the best idea either. I'm enough of a geek to hear the name and think "ooh, Full throttle etc.", but I have quite a few mates who LOVED Grim Fandango and still wouldn't be able to place the name, the kind of people who'd love Psychonauts given half a chance. Guess I'll just have to educate 'em myself then

Far be it from me to break from the BB love-in here, so I won't Great movie, certainly my favourite Batman to date. Bale just nails the character perfectly (perhaps now hollywood'll wake up and give him more of the roles he deserves), and fellow Irishman Cillian Murphy gives us probably the best villan since Nicholson's Joker. Still didn't Like it quite as much as Sin City, but still fantastic. The intro was a little plodding in parts, which may come off worse in repeat viewings, but that's only a minor gripe really.

It would've made a lot more sense to focus more on the lesser-known, more original titles out there than just give HL2 another pointless little extra bit of blurb to stick on their inevitable "game of the year" boxes. But maybe that's just me

Yeah, couldn't agree more. We were at the tail end of the seemingly mass culling of sites happening there at the time and didn't even get a warning. One day we were there, next we were gone. I had a few interviews for follow up work on other games sites, but by then I'd totally lost the heart for it

And in reply to ysbreker, me and the strangely named Sip-Ice and J-Muff took over running the site from Spaff around the time of that archive update, where it continued for about another year before UGO (or whoever it was that held ownership of the domain name) decided to hell with it, didn't renew our domain and some complete arse of a cybersquatter nabbed it. Bit of a crappy end really, I always had a soft spot for the place...

Sweet baby Jesus, I thought that place was lost to the ether long ago. And that's me on the top post (as the "secretly ironic but nobody got it anyway" Evilone). I'd lost all those reviews ages ago when my last comp died. And in hindsight, that was probably for the best . The folly of youth indeed

Yep Yufster, I'm from Donegal. Whereabouts are you from yourself?

Meh, why not. Last few games I played or replayed recently: The Longest Journey - April! Swearing! Pure gaming bliss. Full Throttle - Short, but near perfect. Why don't more games have proper soundtracks? Guild Wars - Nippy, accessible, feeless. Not for the short of friends. Call Of Duty - Not bloody WW2 AGAIN, yet surprisingly great.

Hi all, found this place through UK:Resistance (great site), thought as I'd been browsing the main feature pages for quite a while now I might as well sign on here and get it over with The name's Joe Griffin, hailing from the unmentionably dead-ended North-west of Ireland. I actually used to write under Spaff (ooh-er etc) some time ago, as a reviewer on the long-lost Converted2 site. Thankfully I've learned a bit since giving online (sock)fest Counter-Strike a 4/5 review. Although apparently not that much, as I'm in the process of signing up for a degree in games development On the games front, all-time faves would have to be The Longest Journey, System Shock 2, Full Throttle and Laser Squad (yep, the original one) Anyway, look forward to seeing you all on the forums...
